You're saying that Saints are 'risking' Wellens & Graham because maintaining this record against Wire and the pride of a local derby is so vitally important to them it's worth the risk?

And that if they were playing Wigan or Leeds they wouldn't take the risk and they'd be left out because there's no 'record or pride' at stake?

You really should read what someone is saying properly before quoting them and making yourself look like a moron.

Perhaps, just perhaps if saints wanted to win this so much, they wouldn't risk any players that are injured because they need a fully fit team?! Or maybe saints don't see wire as a threat and are willing to risk fielding a team that is not 100% fit to try and get them back to full fitness. Either way, some of you wire fans need to stop looking for excuses before the biannual drubbing by saints!

ermm.. haven't the Saints players openly said in the media (particularly ahead of last years fixture) about how they were driven on by not wanting to be in the Saints team that were beaten by Warrington on their home ground thus ending this run of victories?

If any of you are even remotely suggesting (which the whole point of this thread is) that Wellens' & Graham's participation in this match has nothing to do with wanting to beat possible title contenders, and that they are being risked because of pride and the maintenance of a record then you are beyond deluded.

Fresh start at Widnes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you beat us on Friday night. Mind you, I wouldn't have been at all surprised if you'd beaten us at any time during the last three or four years. Why haven't you? Seems crazy to me.

I hope so too. I like the way Warrington play the game. And if the standard of recent years is maintained (the standard of match, not Warrington play!), it should be another fantastic game.

That depends who you ask. It's a bigger fixture for me than the Wigan game as we tend to play the same style of rugby and so the contest is more open and even. Wigan are spoilers and so I just tend to end up feeling frustrated for most of the match! Mind you, it was very good to nick a point from them in Cardiff, especially given the arrogance of their players when they did their pre-match warm up while Cas and Wakey were still playing. But for a few years now I've felt a kind of disbelief when we have won against you lot. 'How did we manage to do that?' has often been the question on lots of Saints' fans lips after our encounters with Wire.

Agreed but there will still be plenty of pride in continuing this run, I would eat my trousers if it isn't mentioned amongst the players in the dressing room before the game to pump them up.

I was stood next to a wire fan for most of those type of matches. Everytime I wanted to hug him at the end xD
