You are aware Warringtons average crowd attendance in its final decade was around 4000 at Wilderspool? The maximum attendance was around 5000ish through safety rules. (Somebody put me accurately corrected)
If Leigh brought 3000+ to Wilderspool then there would be only 8-900 wire fans!!

The season I am talking about was 2000-2001 (ish). We were the top team of the then NFP (Northern Ford Premiership) and after nilling you in the first half, the great Allan Langer had a little too much class in the 2nd half for you to pip us 20-10. I can still smell the urine flowing down the terraces (lets be honest, Wilderspool was a dump but it created a great atmosphere with a packed railway end. I had the queue for 20 mins !!)

Wilderspool was packed (just under 9k in) to watch a Leigh side almost turn over yet another SL side in the QF of the Challenge Cup. I was gutted that you didnt get to Wembley as Warrington are my second team. Most Wire fans I shared a drink with after the match stated that Leigh should have won, but not to be.

The SL team we did beat that year was again Salford. Again it was on the BBC.

Its almost Deja Vu this , but I want a favourable result this time !!

Given our recent attendances at CC games & our poor form this season I would not be surprised to see our fans outnumbered by Leigh fans especially when the match is on BBC.

By the way didn't Wire/Leigh games always happen over Easter in the days of proper RL ,when there was just one division ?

Max attendance at wilderspool for the last few years was around 9.5K, maybe less, after the Snookers side was taped off.

That match in the cup was part of our incredibly uninspiring start to the season, where we didn't have a sponsor to start of with. Walters didn't last very long and DV2 went back to 'straya as his mum was ill, and our cup run was Woolston Rovers, Leigh, and Villeneuve, until we got to the semi final where we were robbed by that nikau try that they didn't go to the video ref for just before half time.

Oh yes ... The one that Cummins later admitted was actually a try.

Reading all the posts by Leigh fans on this thread, it looks like neither team thinks they'll win. Should be interesting.

Bookies giving us about a 18 point start. I'm not feeling a pro-Wire as the bookies or Leigh fans seem to be about the result. But maybe this game is exactly what we need to turn our season around.

It's just been confirmed that the Western portion of the South Stand will be given over to... the BBC. They've built some decking and made a weird makeshift studio.

That will be so they can film who the troublemakers are....after the club being warned there could be more police & stewards than spectators.

In all honesty your favourites but we will give it a go,despite what the Leeds fans claim,we pushed them all the way last year,scores were level with 10 minutes to go.
We have a better team this year so you never know,there is no love lost between Rowley and Smith so that should spice it up a bit!

Although hoping for the win,i think a lot of Leigh fans will be on the +18,and will count it as a successful day if they land the bet!
