I know mate just abit of banter. I'm not sure about an "overall game" better than Eastmond. Tomkins is a very class player mind.

| Eastmond has a better kicking game, but with the ball in hand, I'd take Tomkins every time.

Not sure your right about him having a better overall game than Eastmond.
Eastmond can play quite a few positions very well including 6,7 and even centres and fullback which he has played previously.

I will have to beg to differ Eastmond with ball in hand is a much more frightening thought remeber the game at Knowsley Road, Eastmond just ducked under Morleys attempted tackle and scored. It's more frightening because Eastmond is faster, trickier and harder to put down. Then you have his versatility he can play halfback, fulllback and in the centres. I just think if you were to ask an opposing team who they hate playing against more they would say Eastmond. He is also a great goal kicker. IMO he is the complete overall better player of the three.

Correct and should be the England halves for the next few years with Myler keeping them both on their toes.

From the last view games I have watched I actually think Tomkins looks class at fullback. He's not made one mistake and looks asif he's played there all his career. A great adjustment. He could possibly be the new solid fullback England needs, with Eastmond and Myler playing in the halves. Phenominal talent is Tomkins and anybody who say's different needs to take off there specs. I know theres Widdop who looked very good against France but IMO he isn't ready yet and in a couple of years he will be after learning of the best fullback there is in Slater.

You've made some good points there but looking a Sam at fullback, he's solid enough under the high ball, his one on one tackling is very good and obviously he chimes into the line well being a half back.
However the main thing that worries me is his kick returns. Yes hes good running at a broken line cause of his pace and footwork. But when its one line of defence he gets outmuscled and dominated in the tackle and driven back about 5 metres, not a good start to a set. This happened against you guys at the DW and a couple times last night. To be a great fullback i think he needs to put on more size and weight.
For this year I'd give Widdop a go, admittley I've only seen him against France but he looked the business there and we havent got many other options.
Not like where going to beat the Aussies anyway

| Saw O'loughlins name and couldn't resist backing the notion that I hate him too. Admittedly, he isn't as bad as he used to be, but I'm pretty sure that's because J. Tomkins and Coley joined the squad and so he's not noticed as much anymore.

| excellent player, has a lot to learn still.
i think we forget with the likes of tomkins, eastmond and myler that they are all so young and will only reach their full potential in years to come.
I think myler is the one that will show us his true skills later , as he is more of a general / director of a game
the other attributes are more obvious i.e. running with the ball.
sam tomkins is irritating and it's not that we fear or hate him coz of his ability, i respect his ability but he is just a cocky little tw&t as is his brother.
that said, the tackle was horrendous and potentially as bad as they come.
straight red, can't imagine what the ref was thinking, they can't have missed it and the blood was plain to see afterwards.
And credit the lad with spine, he bounced right up, you can't teach that.
i reckon ablett is looking at a very big ban, if not it's an even bigger disgrace.
I read a thread by some plonker thinking the whole world was against wigan lol, not any more mate coz up till this year you ain't been a threat for ten years!!

| I think some have mentioned how brave Sam was for getting straight back up again and carrying on through the game as if nothing had happened. There's the main difference right there between Tomkins and Eastmond, had that same shot been done on Eastmond he would have been looking to come off. Sam has a bigger heart and bigger mental toughness for the game than Kyle has.
I thought Myler was very unlucky to be on the losing side tonight, he did a couple of wild things that didn't come off but IMO looked the more dangerous half back.

Oh really? How many times in his career has Kyle already limped off? One of my very best friends who is a Saints fan, when helping out at the coaching at Saints told me when Kyle was in the reserves they had a phone call going up on the way to Leeds. In this game they got told on the way up that Ryan Bailey was playing, along with another 1st team forward and once news broke through to Kyle in the training session pulled up with an injury. Then later on was seen walking perfectly fine, he did the same in a reserves game at Orrell a couple years ago, once Wigan went ahead he didn't want to know and pulled up with another injury. He has the heart of a pea.

| I wouldn't question anyone who plays RL professionally it's just luck.
I've had an absolute bell ringer and been fine and i've taken a little knock and had to come off playing the game myself.
Want to know who are tough cookies though Mick Monaghan and Rob Burrows.

Ive seen eastmond play many a reserve game against big names returning from injury. True hardmen like Morley and Peacock. Ive also seen him bloody and bruised and knocked into next week from high tackles and him still refuse to go off. So im supposed to believe some cock and bull story made up from a wigan fan, rather than what ive seen with my own eyes? K mate, dream on

The story is from a Saints fan and was a member of the Saints coaching staff, not a Wigan fan so its hardly "bull" as you put it. He would tell you himself what happened and it isn't the first time he's limped off when the going gets tough. Sam has played more games this year than Eastmond.

| And for the record, I think Kyle is an excellent player but it's already been noted he lacks the toughness/heart that Sam has. We can only see how things develop over the next few years.

Yes, sam has played 7 more games because Eastmond has a legitamte injury.
Ok folks, you heard it from the wigan fan first. If ever your player gets an injury and cant play its all down to mental toughness. Once Sam "the mental warrior" Tomkins gets an injury and cant play, its because hes not mentally tough enough. Maybe if Soliola had more of this mental toughness, he could have played through a ruptured Knee. Same for Richard Owen and Chev Walker. Broken legs? Pah, its mental toughness.

| I'd still rather have Eastmond than Tomkins. Eastmond really takes the line on at speed and most of the time is able to knock players over as he goes through, Tomkins gets collared and thrown on the floor.

You fail to see the point, it's not the size of the injury and its ridiculous to compare it to those players injuries who are long term injured. It's the mental toughness for carrying on which is what I originally pointed out the main difference between the 2 players. You say you've seen Kyle carry on when taking a knock, well thats your opinion. I've seen him looking and wanting to come off when the going gets tough and has come off, with Sam or Myler I haven't seen that yet.

You are just making things up now. First you claimed he hasnt played as many games as Tomkins, because hes mentally weak but I showed that just silly because he has had legitimate injuries and now you are making things up about him looking like he wants to come off, something I havent seen at any Saints game.
