Child sin binned 3 players in that match before it's farcical end. By the end of the match, he had shown 4 yellow cards and 2 red cards. That is almost unprecedented in a rugby league game.

If he had shown any more in the match, then no doubt Child would have been accused of "making it all about him". If players refuse to follow the rules and earlier punishments don't act as a deterrent - what can Child do?

McIllorum rips off Hill's head guard as third man in a tackle - Child's response "I can only give what I can see". Again how could he miss it.

On 60 minutes McIllorum (again) deliberately knees Clark in the head at the play the ball - Child's response "I can only deal with what i see". It is so obvious it's silly.

Given these snidey incidents going unpunished whilst Bird's Hollywood acting throwing his head back when tackled on his shoulder gets a penalty it is no surprise that eventually players look to take things into their own hands. Especially when you have seen three players likely to miss Wembley with ligament damage, ruptured testicle and fractured eye-socket from a ninja tackle, leading with the knee and dropping on the head with the knees respectively all from un-punished, in my opinion, foul play. It will be interesting whether the disciplinary review panel make of these "challenges".

Child is not fit for purpose as far as refereeing at the top level.

totally disagree, if your not getting the rub of the green by the ref it doesnt give you the right to start being houses in the game. The ref did give them the rub but wire should have stuck to the game plan and hurt them on the scoreboard instead.

I thought Mr.Child had a reasonable game in very difficult circumstances .We can all use selective evidence such as Warrington's 5 high tackles in a short time .
What I want to know is why so many of our players were so stupid when the game was clearly won . This could ruin our chance of a top 5 place despite the easy looking run in . Some of the Warrington players also lack composure to put it mildly .

For anyone to blame last night on James Child is beyond me. How on Earth is it his fault that grown men felt the need to try and attack Catalans fans? No referee should have to put up with what he did last night. Quite frankly, Warrington fans are thugs who can’t control themselves and resort to violence quite regularly. The behaviour of Chris Hill was also disgraceful. If I was a Warrington fan I would be ashamed of my club because once again you have shown yourselves to be Rugby League’s shame. Just watched the full game and James Child had a big job on his hands by way of Chris Hill trying to referee the match, can someone put a muzzle on his gob he was a disgrace. I would expect Edwards to get a fair ban for incitement of more trouble.

I have watched Salford put 90 points on Catalan in 2 games with only 14 against.Catalan played up the middle with their much larger pack.Wire tried to mix it with the Catalan forwards instead of going round the outside.Steve Mac the Cats coach is still coaching as in the old days with big cumbersome aggressive forwards.He obviously told them to take Austin and Ratchford out of the game.Tomkins his usual irritating self going in with knees when 3rd man.Crowd trouble by frustrated fans down to the somebody on the top tier shouting down to wire fans.Childs sorry its time to retire he cant even get video ref correct robbing Salford of victory at Saints.

Tomkins is usually complaining about something specific or relevant to what's just happened. If Catalans are penalised, he'll claim they didn't do it, or claim a previous decision didn't go their way and was the same. Referees don't mind that sort of interaction, as long as it's not aggressively delivered. Hill is just an idiot and so disrespectful when it comes to talking to the refs. I've never met him so can't say if it's just his level of intelligence that's the issue, but he just comes across as dismissive, ignorant and disrespectful. His communication is so puerile, often he just ignores what the referees have explained to him and repeatedly asks what the penalty was for, when the referee had just told him. He complains at the wrong times, he complains when it's the most blatant decision ever.

I'd be amazed if he's not punished for the 'chat' they had when he was pretending to be Jesus and trying to part the waves instead of just allowing the referee to finish the game like he wanted to so he could get the players off the field. Players have been banned this year simply for appealing for a decision using a swear word, he repeatedly swore right to the refereee's face.

I agree with this. I cringe whenever he speaks to a ref and it never helps us, he just antagonizes them.

Compare that with Morley who, while having many run-ins with refs, knew how to speak to them.

Watch it again and you’ll hear Hill explaining that his family is stuck in the middle of that. While the ref wants his team to play the penalty and possibly cause more aggro. The two consecutive high tackles probably incited or at least contributed to what happened in the crowd to some level. More wouldn’t help. Stop finding fault where there isn’t any; yes Hill isn’t a saint and was possibly at fault elsewhere in the game, as in many other games, but not in that particular instance.

The ref wanted him to tap the ball and kick it off the pitch so he could end the game, how would that cause more agro? If he had just done that when the ref asked instead of constantly asking him to end the game there and then, after Child had already explained repeatedly he couldn't do that, it would have been over quicker.

James Child's performance was one of the weakest I have witnessed (from the sofa), he is not of the required standard and he does not command any respect from the players.

There were things going on that have no place in the game and those in charge should be looking directly at that and dealing with him in the appropriate manner.

Chris Hill should be removed from captaincy before the next game he is not capable, he is not a leader.

As for the other stuff that went on, I wasn't there, neither were the vast majority on the those commenting so lets leave that to those who can sift the information, videos and testimony to at least try and resolve the issues we are now faced with.

Well, Mr Cyclops knowing the scoreline with a wry smile I watched the game last night with a fair bit of neutrality and you seem to have omitted quite a lot of foul play by Wire to allow Rat Boy 4 penalty shots at goal.

It will be interesting to see what the 8 eyed disciplinary panel will make of it all I suspect the incidents will be a plenty like pages from "War and Peace".

My final perspective on the criticism of James Child is that he should have called time on the 78 mins, result was decided and no one was interested in playing any further part because of the crowd trouble, he will probably learn from that and will be instructed accordingly.

We will see yes. I wonder which team will end up with the most banned players after that game? I'm confident the 8 eyes will be nearer my views than yours. I'd gladly have a wager with you if you're confident? As for Child blowing early he's not allowed to blow early even if common sense dictates he should.

I would imagine McLlorum and Edwards would cop definite bans of a couple of matches and maybe Hill and Mamo on the wire side with a one match or a conduct caution. I think they will ignore the Philbin Flops and the Patton Clothes Lines because I think Catalan got rewarded with some 2pt penalties from those.

As for the crowd trouble there will be a big question mark over the stewards or lack of, to allow the mob scuffle to escalate, for the Wire fans there were 2 or 3 definitely over aggressive and they should have mug shots of those.

I challenge anyone to not kick off if you have someone, that someone being ex-wire player Ben Pomeroy, throwing glass bottles into the wire fans. Then all the catalan fans throwing chairs and snapping legs off tables and using them as weapons. Wire fans are thugs? Perhaps we're not angelic but the majority of the blame lands at the feet of the frenchies up in that box and Catalan as a club for not having adaquat stadium security.

And as for the Ref causing all the argo, though he is not responsible for the actions of the crowd, he does have to take some blame. the sheer frustration he caused from his lack of ability to control the game caused the away fans to vent their frustrations at the ref. The catalan fans then were throwing ale into the crowds and laughing. so in essence he does have a part to play.

Straight after the first fight he should have come down hard on any infringement and stamped his authority. but in the following sets after there were high shots, flops, knees in the tackle, wrestling in the ruck and he just let it slide. It's almost as though he thought "Oh, Hicks let the game flow in the semi-final and it made the game better... I think i'm going to do the same" the man is a complete embarressment to the RFL officials and has been for close to 10 years. How he is still employed as a full time Ref is beyond me.

If thats not warrington playing, then its a regular saturday night where everyone on forums and social media are complaining about catalans standard tactics and incompetant reffing. As most friday nights are.

I wasn't there so can't comment on how it started, but it's perfectly clear from the videos people are sharing that there was no ongoing use of objects by those in the box, in fact there is no evidence of it at all.
