Are you related to either of them ?
They were good, but I never really got the "love in" for them

| No I can just recognize class when I see it, biased or unbiased. Or have you only watched rugby in the last 3-4 years?

No, over 30 years.
I too, can also recognise class. BTW, I'm not biased. Morley's quality (which I've been able to witness (off and on) for well over a decade) has shone through, wether at Leeds, Roosters, Wire or GB.
I just think Moz is far better than the 2 Aussies I mentioned. It's only my opinion (again)

It might be your opinion, but it's wrong.
Morley is a world class prop forward though, only James Graham is better in this country.

Fair enough difference of opinion, there's not much in it IMO.
However Lefty's assertion that Morley is twice the player Civoniceva and Webcke were is so wrong it's untrue.

| Problem for me is that his game hasn't really developed too much over the years, and is still more of an 'old school' biff style forward.
If you compare the role he does to the mobility and offloading of Wood* & Harrison, or the space that Solamona creates, then it's always difficult to say who is the better, or more effective player. It's all really about getting the right balance for the team, rather than the impact of an individual.
(*IMHO I'm really impressed at the way Woody has worked on his game, especially as we feared his career might have been over given the run of injuries over the last few years).

Absolutely spot on, its a no contest for me .. I was comparing Grahams stats earlier and at first glance they look pretty good, but then i started to break them down into Metres per carry and tackles per game and so on, and thats when his stats started to look quite average really.. statswise he's not even the best forward at saints Defensively Paul Clough puts a better stint in than Graham and thats with the ginger whinger playing more minutes.. and both Morley and Woody have better Metres per carry and tackles per game than Graham and his marker tackling is shocking in comparison to those two as well.

| Morley must be in running for MOS again this year - That was also a great impact on Grix. That was one heck of a trip to Disneyland for poor Scott there.
Morley must be up there as the best prop we've had. Certainly in my lifetime anyway (I'm just a bit too young to remember Les).
Not bad for a bloke of 33. Not bad at all.
Leading his team out (again) at Wembley and for the first time at Old Trafford? Time will tell...

I'm not one for following stats and using them to base an opinion on a player or who is better but those show just how dominant our pack has become.

wouldn't disagree with Morley for MOS
He is a player that all opposition players and fans alike respect (though we may not show it on match day)
I dont think he won it last year because of your poor league form early on, irrespective of how well he was playing

Not knocking our captain, but I think Tony Smith has made a much bigger contribution than Morley to the turnaround at our club.

| Quote ="Ghost Rider"I have to admit that I slightly favour Boyd as he was my boyhood hero, but that no way takes the edge off Morely. Both being outstanding players. The game is different now, so to compare is probably not very fair.
I just regard myself as being very lucky to have seen them both wear the Primrose and Blue for Warrington.
I still watch the 1986 Premiership Cup Final occasionally and regard it as one of my most cherished memories from that era. This only recently being surpassed with us winning the Challenge Cup last year – something I have waited over 25 years for…
'"
Ill second that post
I recently watched the premiership final and those posters that are of the opinion fans like us remember this era through Rose tinted glasses would do well to watch this game.
What amazed me was the pace of the game the first time a had watched it some twenty years after the final itself I was expecting to see a slow game with the odd flash of ball handling and the only pace on show being Brian Johnson...how wrong I was....
the pace of the play the balls, and the running of Boyd tamati and Jackson and the considerably younger Mike Gregory was quite brilliant....
on boyd what he did after being out of the game for so long due to his ban was also quite incredible ...with his reputation he got far more "attention" than Morley has ever got.... so playing so well as well as having to deal with that just edges him for me
if they were to ask for a greatest ever wire team tommorrow boyd and Morley would be my two props...without hesitation...

I was only 16 at the time - but had supported Warrington long enough to realise that winning cups wasn't going to be a regular occurance. I remember no-one gave us a chance that day - with Halifax then setting a record of winning the league after losing only 5 games all season.
Indeed, the winners cheque already had Halifax written on it. But, then along came Boyd. And the rest, as they say, is history...
