| Currie isn’t what he was, but is still effective when getting a bit of room and can use the ball well. He’s one of them that if he was behind a dominant pack would look a far better player.
If we’re cutting Cooper, Ratchford, Widdop and Charnley at the end of the season I expect significant investment in the pack, it’s clear for all to see that is the root cause of our failure

| Quote ="Jack Napier"6.1.2 Where the proposed transaction is the termination of a Playing Contract with one
of the Club’s existing Players, as part of which the Club proposes to make a new
payment (in a lump sum or in instalments) to the Player that was not provided for
in his Playing Contract or other arrangements (and therefore was not previously
included in the calculation of his Salary Cap Value) (the “Termination
Payment”), then the information provided to the HSCR must include a proposed
compromise agreement between the Player and the Club (usually in the form of
the RFL’s standard compromise agreement as drafted from time to time) setting
out full details of the agreement reached, including full details of the Termination
Payment.
.
6.1.3 On approval of a Termination Payment referred to in clause 6.1.2 above, the
Player’s original Salary Cap Value shall thereafter be disregarded for the
purposes of calculating his previous Club’s Aggregate Liability.'"
Termination of a contract is very different to paying off a contract. Termination is when there has been a breach of contract (gross misconduct, drugs, arrest etc), and this clause protects clubs from being in a position where they need to keep a banned/ arrested player in their squad. Unless there’s a suggestion there’s a breach the clause you copied isn’t coming into the situation.
Otherwise what we’re discussing here is completing Charnley contract early, which generally includes a negotiated portion of the remaining value of the contract. With 6 months remaining on his contract there was 50k of value left (aka he was paid 100k a year - I don’t know that but for simplicities sake) and Warrington agreed to pay 20k for him to complete his contract now, that would save Warrington 30k on the cap net. Of course we don’t know what any such agreement might be, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why Charnley wouldn’t expect the full sum.
Any loan would need to be agreed with the player as well, so if Charnley didn’t want to go, you couldn’t force him. But it is correct loaned players count in the club whom is loaning’s cap rather than his parent company (otherwise someone could buy a couple of middle ground championship clubs, sign a load of players and then loan them to a SL club and the SL club could effectively have unlimited cap).

| So, Hill gone ,Cooper & Ratchford to go ? 3 players who give100% effort in every game ,possibly exchanged for bums from Down Under giving 20% effort. Why not keep them till our academy bears fruit ?

Very highly rated but can’t stay on the field sadly, so we’ll see. Newman might be the only one I’d think twice about swapping for!

I’d give 100% but it wouldn’t be good enough would it? I don’t think any players Aussie or otherwise will get away with not giving 100% under Powell. The 3 names you mentioned are all on a downward curve due to their age, Ratchford has been for some time. Powell is changing the culture and giving the squad a breath of life….I’m beginning to like where it’s heading.

| If this early release of Charnley rumour becomes fact, and with Butler and Doro already gone, then we must be signing a player for this season.

| If Cooper is going it can only be down to a small number of factors
He wants too much
He wants too long
Powell doesn't like him
He doesn't like Powell
In a year that's been marred by "meh" performances, i think Coops has held his head up high. I've no stats to back any of this up but my eyes tells me he's a great grafter, can still mix it with the best of them and has passion. Not bad attributes for a position where we're struggling to recruit

| If I’m to look to give Powell the benefit of the doubt on Cooper and Hill, stepping back from seeing through the lens that is a match day where it’s evident that they were our best forwards. But they’re could be more to it in the bits that we don’t see. I remember an interview with Adrian Morley around 2012 ish where he admitted that he doesn’t/couldn’t do a lot of weight bearing running during the season anymore, so would do a lot of the cardio work on bikes etc to manage his body. It could be that Cooper is shot to bits Monday to Friday but just about gets ready for the weekend.
I have seen no evidence of this, but just playing devils advocate.

You make a good point that none of us know the full facts in terms of fitness, attitude, longevity, financial demands etc. of anyone in the squad. Hopefully we’ll see some signings announced soon which could give us some confidence about next season.

No lollipop though.
I always put Wire to win, but I actually thought we would win against Saints this week and I lumped on Wire. I thought Toulouse would win too.
Wire have been thrashed by teamsters with big packs, whoever they are and there position in the league, not so much with teams with a light pack, (Hudds apart who clearly had their minds the CC semi final).
Saints have a light pack and Warmsley. What makes them great is their line speed, stop that, all they have left is the pace, match that, then you beat Saints. We just fell short, another 10 mins and we’d have had them.
But fair warning, we still have a light pack and we will get more thrashings, and more disappointing results, the game vs Saints isn’t our summer swallow.
Great backs and a shiitake pack.

I would ask then does it matter if he performs to the level he does? Different sport entirely but I recall Deandre Hopkins for the Texans in the NFL very rarely if ever trained weekly, and he still caught everything thrown to him. Best WR in the league. Cooper is one of the best in SL. Whether he trains or not apparently?

John Woods was the best 20 a day, none trainer, who was fitter than his butchers dog, player I’d ever seen. He was still playing rugby in his 40s.

Well let’s hope it’s nothing more than a rumour, I will add, I wish we’d have gone in for Ian Thornily before Pies took him back.
