Heard the same story about Briers & Myler not getting on. This was a week before Wembley.

| Remember when Monas arrived - apparently he and Briers didn't get on either? Don't you just love gossip?
As for the Penny comment - its a shame for him really. He emerged far too quickly. But also don't you think there isn't much of a place for wingers like Penny? The way SL is played, it seems you want a much larger winger, with a smidge of pace but good strength too. A la Richards, Hicks, Gardner, Hall. Even Riley is more robust and has a good burst of speed rather than length of pitch stuff. I actually was surprised Saints play that new kid (sorry his name escapes me ) but I was stood next to him the other day and he is bigger than I thought. Anyway, you can't compare Penny to Myler. Myler has worked his way through an RL background. Penny hadn't touched a rugby ball before!
Myler has just had a bit of first seasonitis. Next season is make or break for him. And I maintain that it is difficult to compare Myler and Tomkins. They play a totally different game and are at different stages in their career. Sam is certainly peaking at the moment.

They are completely different players so only a complete buffoon would compare them. Are you comparing them?

| When Lee Briers hangs his boot up then and only then will you get the best out of young Richard Myler.
In my opinion you need to build your team around this very talented young player, it was very clear to see when Richard was at the Willows he was no where near the finished article and to be honest I was sick when the Reds decided to let him go.
Well he's your player now and thats life I suppose, I'm sure your head-coach will sort out a decent long-term partner for Myler in time.
SEE YOU ALL NEXT SEASON.... CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY YOU AGAIN.

FAIR COMMENT 'Dyson'
In my opinion Lee Briers has been a very good player, but like every player in the greatest game there comes a time to admit you can't hack it anymore but like most players that decsion has to be made for them.

| briers ain't the same player. just as laughable as solomona needs to go thread. he has been great all season and has two poor games at the end of the season and you say it's time to let him go. obviously mr smith doesn't agree and i take his word over everyone on here.

I mean for the evolution of the club, and I personally still think Hicks should have won the Lance Todd.

| The Myler situation gives me great confidence in Tony Smith. I'm glad to see that TS doesn't feel he has to play a player that isn't performing as he likes just because he signed him. I said at the start of the season i wasn't overly impressed by Myler as i like creative half backs and my opinion hasn't changed an awful lot over the course of the season.

| I'd like somebody to pinpoint the games in which myler has been underperforming. If TS wanted somebody with an all round game he shouldn't have spent 200 grand on myler who's main attribute is support play and he is brilliant at it. Don't forget that briers missed a large chunk of the early season due to his injury against wigan and we managed to win most of the games in his absence.

All of the Hicks tries in the CC Final required more than just a simple touchdown.
Give him due credit.

| I think he is far to small and weak. He almost has the physique of a 15 year old boy... he certainly will not succeed if he doesn't bulk up... i think his size is one of the reasons he doesn't take on the line.. what's the point in trying to burst through if the first person you come up against is going to smash you into the ground... we have already seen that he hasn't got the elusiveness of a tomkins.. he also doesn't appear to have fantastic ball skills.. he has pace.. so now he needs power and lots of it.
I am expecting him to be bulking up considerably over the next 12 months.... they should make him go the gym with Ryan Atkins and give him some of what he eats.

| I heard a story that Myler had a go at Tony Smith publicly after your Challenge Cup semi-final win. He was unhappy about only being brought on when he considered the game to be already won. There was something on the Hull forum recently about Warrington accepting a bid for him but apparently Myler didn't want to move to Hull for travel reason's.
This may be total rubbish but it's what I heard.
The thing with Richie is he's not a creative player, he's more of a Danny McGuire opportunist type player who's quick and backs up any breaks. I wonder if Smith has considered switching him to stand off in a similar role to McGuire at Leeds.

| Quote ="LoyalFan"Richie Myler was never ready to take the step up and decided that the money was too good to turn down. Even at Salford we could see that he was far from the finished article. Personally... I felt his weaknesses were going to get found out when he moved, and I think that has been the case. We honestly couldn't believe our luck when Warrington came in with the offer they did. It allowed us to move forward. We signed Daniel Holdsworth who has been amazing and looks the complete player.... this enabled us to sign players like Luke Patten... and a number of others have followed.
Back to Myler... He's a support player primarily. He hasn't got the game at the moment to be creative as a scrum half. Compare him to Sam Tomkins at Wigan... They are a million miles apart. Tomkins creates and supports... Myler doesn't create too much. At Salford he stood out due to the players around him... He played for England when he was the star of the show at The Willows... so played mostly on confidence. At Warrington... the fact that he's not getting it all his own way is knocking him and his form has suffered.
As it stands... you took a huge gamble paying what you did for him... and I still feel he's going to be a bit of a flop right now. His best move for him would have been to stay put for another 2-3 years... gain the experience... and then move. As it stands... he's moved too soon and unless he takes the advice being given to him and deals with the disappointments... then he's not going to move forward. I understand that he has been complaining that he isn't happy at Warrington... This says it all for me. He made his bed so perhaps should lie in it... He will come out of this a stronger character and perhaps a better player if he does.'"
You had the mercurial Ratchford to take over from him as well.

I Disagree.Rob Burrow is 5'5 and 10'6 Stone, regarded as one of the best in the game at scrum half and an international. Lets use him as a comparable.
Richie Myler, Games 20, Carries 230, Tackles 238, Tries 15, assists 12
Rob Burrow, Games 18, Carries 253, Tackles 198, Tries 5, Assists 7.
Everyone will say Rob Burrow takes on the line more, is stronger in defence, can create more tries. Please look at the stats first eh??? Yes Burrows done more carries, but theres not much in it.
I think weve got one of the brightest young players in the game, stats say it all.
