Let's wait and see if the BBC can do a better job than they have done. Their live Cup coverage has improved massively in recent years so I'm sure they could do a better job that the Super League Show - which as far as I know is kept going because of the enthusiasm of Harry Gration and the team that make it.

Maybe the Beeb's move to Salford's Media City will help? They might start taking more of interest in things that happen on their doorstep.

I don't see that it has already been mentioned but why not have the RFL or Super league present their own online version?

They should have one, but it shouldn't be in place of what should be a national highlights programme.

I wouldn't even mind if they kept the current highlights as they do on the website, just add some commentary over the top. Even if its just some intern doing it, better than that dodgy music over and over again. I see they have started uploading onto youtube though, slhighlights I think the channel is called, much better than the rubbish player they use on the website.

yes, and those are fresh clips with a bit of effort put in. As you say, a bit of commentary with the highlights they have already would be good, hell i could do a better commentary than some of the rubbish gration comes out with. Would be good to get one fan from each side to do it.

the man responsible for producing the show isnt as enthusiastic though, a mate of mine did some work there and said it wasn't very professional. Say's it all really.

you have no chance of channel 4 they have to be paid now to show the horse racing.

It wouldnt be regional if it went to ITV apart from the news they dont do regional programming now. I think next season we will see The Super League show on ITV4 as they are ramming that channel with as much sport as they can show.

Channel 4 won't have any interest in any sport that wouldn't take up a regular spot on its daytime schedule. I.e. not cricket or horse racing.

They have most of the top "entertainment" shows so aren't ever going to replace anything after like 3pm.

I'd disagree with you there. You've fell in the trap of just because a player was great he'd make a great pundit (or manager).

Shearer is woeful, he just inanely describes what's just happened as if we haven't got eyes ourselves. He offers no insight into the game at all. Hansen is a little better and comes up with good stuff sometimes. I don't mind Dixon but Lawrenson is probably the worst of the lot. He's smug, arrogant and acts like he doesn't enjoy the game most of the time.

Last years World Cup showed the BBC team up for what they are, an old boys club out on a jolly up. Lawrenson, Hanson and Shearer all guilty (and happily admitting it) of not knowing much about the teams involved. They'd never even heard of the likes of Hatem Ben Afra or Hamsik despite them both being on the radar of the top European clubs for years. I'm pretty sure they didn't know too much about the young exciting German team at the time either. I'm not sure if he was on the beeb but when Roy Hodgson turned up you could tell instantly that he knew so much more about the world game than the rest of them.

I once saw Danny Baker on MOTD and he was talking fairly knowledgeably about a couple of teams. Shearer just took the p!ss out of him for knowing so much. I don't know how many medals Lawrenson has won but I'd much rather listen to the likes of Baker or James Richardson. They should even try and get Zonal Markings Michael Cox involved somewhere for some real insight. How many England caps have them three got between them.

The best pundits are generally on Sky with Souness and Guillet leading the way by a mile but Seedorf and Leonardo have both worked well on the BBC.

As for Rugby League on ITV, I always thought Rob McCathery and Clive Tyldesley worked well as a anchor/commentry duo in the early 90s but that could be age blurring my memories.

I agree regards to the BBC pundits. But I can't stand Souness OR Guillet on sky, both wind me up no end. Nearly as bad as ITV and Marcel Desailly who can barely speak English!

Souness is the best analyst by a mile. He's even better on RTE were he is given more freedom to say what he wants.

Sky for next season,just need to revamp the whole production package.Get fid of the morrons who,spoil the commentary.Bring in some new fresh faces,to present it.Have a decent re run programme,which has mor of in depth fell to it. So the the weekend trys on Monday at a decent time.

It's like the CC the other year where all of the post match reaction was on red button, so for those of us who had gone to the game missed it all. Hence the reason i have informed our six fingered loiner friends of their pridicament.

We are now in the 21st century, and surely when Claire Balding informs us to flick over to the next channel on the dial, then even the biggest idiot will be able to manage that??

the problem is for those people who go to the game, set record on the one and rightly expect that to be enough. As was the case for those who set the tape for the CC final only to come home and find they had missed the celebrations and interviews after the match.

And how do you propose those people who have gone to the game thinking they had set the tape to cover everything.... only to come home and find out they miss all the interviews etc. handle it?

They do the switch between channels loads of times, it's nothing new.

.......I'd suggest calming down and getting a life, considering you have just spent 80 minutes watching the match live.....There are more things to get worked up about than a missed video recording.

All i am saying is that how pathetic that they don't value our sport enough to keep a whole 80 minutes on the same channel.

Sky managed to cock up boots an all this week for me. Sky + it last weekend for wednesday 9pm as i was working nights. Got up thursday afternoon to watch it and ended up with an hour and half of federer and some other bloke playing tennis. Even said boots an all in my planner. But if it was ITV showing boots an all i would have had to set the planner for some obscure hour i.e 3am and then find i had sky+ an hour an half of jeremy kyle instead of what turned out to be a decent tennis match. I know this adds nothing to the BBC v ITV argument but thought i'd mention it anyway.

I hate to break it to you, but we are a minority sport, and not many in the media, BBC or not, 'value' our sport.

Just be grateful that somebody on terrestrial TV actually shows it....The reality is that if the BBC dropped it, then nobody else would step in, as it just isn't a viable option in this day and age.

are you always so condescending? i know we are a minority sport, and i know that there is value in our sport because otherwise sky wouldn't put money into it and it wouldn't be the 2nd most watched sport in the country.

Maybe no-one else would pick it up, but why does that mean the BBC should treat our game like a ing game of chess and split it however they feel. It's embarassing for the sport, but if you feel that's okay then so be it.
