Quote ="morrisseyisawire"One factor in that 15 minute madness was injuries to Goodwin and Lineham. Tommy in particular ended the half on one leg and I was amazed to see him out for the second half, let alone finish the game.
Hudds exploited it, but we should have managed it better.'"
Spot on. At the end of the first half, our left edge defence of Lineham, Goodwin and Patton were all struggling badly with knocks. Had that not been the case, our cover defence would probably have been able to prevent at least some of the points Huddersfield scored. The failure of the coaching team to address the situation was quite alarming. Their attitude seemed to be 'let's just get to half-time and then think about it'. It's all very well praising the players' guts and professionalism for toughing it out, but on the back of a hard Easter period, leaving them to play on for an hour when injured isn't great player welfare management.
