| Quote ="Mr Snoodle"It's hard to believe that in only 4 posts, 2 players I dislike the most have come up - Currier & Myers!
Also, Paul Bishop. I know he had some good games for us, but I never took to him at all. I caun remember a bloke at Wilderspool once screaming at him......."Bishop, you're a fuffing milk man!!" ............. that said it all for me. (Oh yes, and he had really curly hair, weirdo!!)'"
I hated Paul Bishop with a passion when he was playing for Warrington but loved him when he was at Saints.
He had two top seasons for saints and should have won the Lance Todd at Wembley even though we was the losing team. He also should have gone on the GB tour that year.

| Alex Murphy. What a great player he was but sadly because he'd caused me so much pain when playing for St Helens, I could never truly accept him in a Warrington shirt.
Kevin Ashcroft, also never seemed to me as someone who belonged.

Perhaps the fact he was australian got in the way.....unless you're suggesting he should've played for the kangaroos....in which case I'll question your sanity.

I think Bishop was an aussie mate? I could be totally wrong though.

| Was Scott Wilson as bad as I remember or is my memory tainted by the state of the club in general during that time period?
For some reason I can't remember him catching a pass and not dropping it. Adam Doyle also stands out during that same period Van de Velde inspired Aussie dross... what a way we've come since those dark days. Don't feel so bad about not winning the treble last season when I think of the late 90s.

Lot of high shots iirc....

| People always say Gillies and Wilson, whilst individually they may not have broken any records, kohe love would not have scored anywhere as many tries that year without those two inside him

| Adam Doyle though does sum up a lot of dv2's signings, jobs for the boys, which BTW as we were a basket case of a club at the time, Was The best we were gonna get.

| I find it hard to hate any player in the P&B, but a few I couldn't take to were Currier who is Widnes through and through, and turncoats Steve Blakely, David Myers and Kevin "oooh it's raining" Campion (despite the reasons in Fozzies book)

| Quote ="Steve51"Matthew "Rocket" loving Rodwell is singularly the worst half back I've ever seen anywhere, let alone playing for us. Dreadful in all areas and the cause of Paul Markett receiving a concussion at least once a game due to his awful hospital passing.
His shining moment was bringing us back from 16-0 down to beat the Halifax blue sox (the poorest team to grace Superleague).
He was so crap that when Kevin Penny tried to adopt the nickname "Rocket", his form and place at the club.'"
i don't agree that Rodwell was our worst player, he was part of what was a very bad team (whole new breed yeah right) yes he was very predictable and he used to wind me up using that inside pass all the time. but he did try and tried to get a good repore with the fans. For me the worst player to ever grace our primrose and blue as Asotasi by a mile, how he had the cheek to pick up his wage packet is beyond me.
Not sure how Halifax were the worst team to grace super league, when if you say we were lucky to beat them being 16-0 down at one point and assume we must have been at home, as i am sure it was 2002 when they beat us away when Briers kicked about 5 drop goals to try and scrape a win, Topliss came on as a sub and won the game for them. The year after we signed him.

| I don't understand the animosity towards Rodwell either. He had the misfortune of being brought in to Steve Anderson's team which made a slightly above average player look well below average.
He was hard-working and honest and his behaviour off the field was impeccable considering the drinking culture at the time. I remember a disgusting incident where his family were verbally abused leaving wilderspool after a match, which must be his lasting memory of the town. Nice.

| It's Steve Roach. Did the square root of eff all when he was with us, apart from bossing a game against Keighley (I think) in an early round of the Challenge Cup. Woop. For a player with his reputation, he was shocking, highlighted more by the fact that Les Davidson in that same season was absolutely immense.

Iirc, you could get specialist gear from the clubshop, with the Lima brand plastered all over it, clearly aimed at members of the Wolfpack, and the Rugby League ignorant.
Shameful marketing.......(well done)
