You don't have to be 'very clever' or 'very wise' to see when a team is about to throw a victory away in a big game... Although you are correct, I am very clever and wise.

| Gidley kicking game was terribl etoday, when we had Hull on the rack in the first half, and their forwards looked like keeling over he kept pointlessly kicking it into touch.
What is the benefit of doing that, they get to rest (apparently at every scrum in the final a 5 minute rest is mandatory) and regain some energy.
I can also see why Sandow wasn't wanted in the NRL, his game management is terrible, was completely anonymous in the last 30 minutes, less said the better about his defensive efforts.
I thought Clarke was excellent, always impressed with him... again our lack specialist players, fullback and wingers let us down I feel. Why Ratchford just let the 40/20 sail past him ill never know.

| Sandow has a habit of going awol in games. No doubting his ability but he needs to be like Rob Burrow was + still is for Leeds always running at the opposition.

| I've just watched the tries again. No wonder I'm losing my hair. Both of their tries came from kicks that we barely contested.
FFS, this is a Challenge Cup Final in it's latter stages, with a slender lead, not a blow out against bottom of the table with a 40 point lead.
Both attempts, we were like a timid bloke at a 1930's tea dance excuse me.....not good enough.
Buckets of money spent, and we've now lost 3 finals on the bounce. We need to regroup quickly, and make sure we get something out of the season.
Mark Sneyd MOTM?......seriously? No wonder people think standards are slipping. I could think of half a dozen players more deserving.

| They always tend to give them to those type of players, like when Briers, Gidley or Sandow etc get MOTM when they haven't done much.

| Feel sorry for so many players who worked so hard today. When we look back at it, Clark, Hughes, Currie etc were immense and our right edge of Evans and King was rock solid. A game ultimately decided by kicks - we missed two shots at goal and failed to deal with two kicks to our left edge. In that sense we didn't deserve to win. If we want to win at Old Trafford we need to be more clinical. Nevertheless, a great advert for the game, just hope we can pick ourselves up for the rest of the season.

| Fully agree KT.
I really don't think anyone should feel bad about how they played.
It was all about inches.
Toby stood up well and George was very impressive, but all the lads deserve credit. They'll be hurting for a few days but they certainly haven't let themselves down.

| It didn't really run your way today. To lose Gidley who I think is your calming influence was massive and then Westwood went off and others like Ratchford looked to be carrying injuries and struggling with the intensity of the game.
In a strange way I think today will help you to kick on in the league. It's easy to relax when you've won a trophy and to tail away but that clearly won't be the case now. I think you'll have a massive tilt at Old Trafford now.

| Houghton was man of the match....however....
Sneyd...40:20 on the fifth tackle....Hull score from the next set...kicks conversion from near the touch line...chips to the corner...regathers and puts Shaul under the sticks....kicks winning goal...match winner.

| through a missed kick is gutting but not worrying.
We can't win them all and 3 out of 4 is nothing to sniff at. Hopefully we can nick the LLS off them now at the back end.

I'd rather have 4 trophies and 3 runner up medals in the last 8 years no matter the order they came in, than what we got in the prior 30 years. It was a wayward goal kick and the loss of two very influential players and Hull's resilience that did us today. I'm not worried. We're still very much in contention for the remaining two so that'll do.

| You were class today guys on the train home. And indeed your coach Tony Smith was superb in the build up.
Quite possibly one of the most bizarre games ever in a final. You dominated the ruck almost throughout but our lads never know when they're beaten. It's the first time I've experienced a game played in a sauna and to be honest the heat spoiled the game.
You're a great side well coached with some talented players. I have a feeling we'll meet again. Hull have so much negative history with the cup but for once this was our day. We'll enjoy but your side is a credit to you. Great to see some alternative names in the frame.

| Just watched the match back, Danny Houghton deserved the Lance Todd for that tackle at the end alone! Heart breaking, if Currie hangs onto that as it hits the turf, he slides over. Inches in it there, such a shame.

| Well done to all the fans that stayed to cheer your team off, been to challenge cup finals many times and lost so I know how it feels.
Great credit to your team thought you out played Hull for a lot of the game but not since the 80's have Hull had a team that never knows it is beaten and plays to the last minute.
Two best teams in the league this seaon and it showed by the score and the game, not sure Hull will come down from this so if we do not not win the GF I really hope you do.

| From my ground level perch behind the sticks (i haven't watched it back yet) my impressions were that it was a a very entertaining game with mostly very little between the teams who gave everything in stifling heat. I think the differences that won it for Hull were their refusal to give up & their finishing was much more clinical & concise when sniffing chances to score. The Hull goalkicking was more accurate & ,was it Houghton who kept turning us round in the second half with precision kicks that had to be run out of our in goal area.I thought both defences were excellent.
As for the Wire we need to up the ante in finding a solution to scoring from close quarters...we had some good pressure on the Hull line but there is no one who can execute the telling moves & many a time we ran round like headless chickens. The goal kicking from us was again poor. It has let us down several times this year & could well be the epitaph to our season. We are much better attacking opponents from outside the 25 when we have room to run & had some good assaults on the Hull line yesterday which may have been more fruitful but for unfortunate game stopping injuries to Hull players on numerous occasions that allowed their defence to regroup. If we can iron out our deficiencies then we will have a complete team, & hats off to the King brothers for rising to the occasion.

Tony Smith doesn't win close games in big cup/playoff games (with the exception of the 2004 GF). Since then his victories come from getting a few score ahead before the final quarter. If it's close going into the final quarter he usually loses. That would be my worry if I was a Wire fan in the final 20 mins of the GF (if you get there and it's close) a Smith side fails.

| Commiserations on the loss, obviously we know how you feel.
Warrington played their part in a great final, Hull's sheer refusal to lose was key. Honestly thought you'd nicked it before Houghton's try saving tackle, the stuff dreams are made of.
The Warrington fans I met were very sporting and magnanimous in defeat.

It was, and I am pretty sure it was Houghton in the 2013 semi that kicked us to death... And a a few games in SL...
