| Quote ="rubber duckie"I never said better. I believe the question was about the strongest starting 13.
I think we are stronger and better as a team when he doesn't start.
In fact one of the best games I saw him play was when he made a rare appearance off the bench. I think Asotasi started.
So in answer I feel we are not stronger in the starting 13 with Sims.'"
Yes you did; 'Sims isn't as good a prop as Dodds and I'd also say Cox too under his form.' Quote.

| Why are some people picking Jordan Cox. When he is not even in the squad.

I was thinking strongest starting 13 as prop (which was asked about the full squad not for the leeds game as I understood it. Even though it's on the v leeds topic)as that is what I was discussing.
Once again we are stronger IMO with Dodds or possible Cox with his recent form, starting in the 13. As a team we are better having Sims come off the bench to overlap and alternate a resting roll with Hill.
Babble over.

| I agree with Duckie on this one in that with the players we currently have to come off the bench I would prefer us to start with Hill plus A N Other and bring Sims off the bench. As players return to fitness (Dodds, BEvans) and/or find something like their best form (Bailey) or move full time to prop (Westwood) then my opinion on Sims as a starter or interchange could change.

| I think we are certainly missing a second prop that can make the hard yards like Hill. Jordan Cox seems to have the potential but needs to grow up an awful lot and I am dubious as to whether Smith can bring about a change of attitude. We need to cross Jack Hughes with Cox to get the right sort of player for the job. Ben Evans has been out for so long that I don't think we will see what sort of player has returned until next season. Dodds was only just starting to play for us when he got injured, so it will be interesting to see what he can deliver. We know he is excellent in defence, but can he make good yardage as well ? And then there are the rumours about Mitch Clark. He certainly seems to have the right set of skills, not to mention the attitude to go with it. If the rumours are true, he could well be an ideal foil for Hilly.
In the meantime Simms is all we have. He is a great player to have around but has been pointed out, doesn't make that much impression on the opposition defensive line. He would have too much competition in the back row I think, so yes, perhaps he could be an impact prop from the bench.

| Either way. Sims will be sitting 15-20 mins on the bench each half. It's no more a demotion to come to come on as it is to go off!?
Just a tweak for a stronger 17.

| I've travelled up from London today with a mate, thought we would take in the races at haydock. Suns out ! Plenty of skirt about ! Cold beers ! Then they have just interviewed Shane Wane and a few of the thug players spoilt a good days racing lol.

| heres an interesting one as well looking at that, addressing another discussion on here.
hill average gain 8.48/sims 6.86 (235 carries-1993m/202 c/1386 m)
Hill offloads 11/sims 31
penalties hill 11/sims 4
errors hill 6/sims 9
I think with the eyeball test as well, you get more aggressive defence off ashton, which is what you did see at the start of teh cas game at the weekend, as he was pumped up, i'm a bit surprised at the penalties though i'd have thought that was other way around

| Hilly has a tendency to hold the man down in the tackle for that fraction too long and gets penalised.

| Sims doesn't make those extra couple of yards in the tackle that hilly does, but a lot of his other stuff is pretty good. No probs from me with him starting.
Ref 'Cox's attitude' - not sure what that's referring to. He's a character and as a 4th/5th prop he's exceeded my expectations.
Good rap from Bailey tonight. Some good hit ups and one very good ball take that led to dwyers try.

| Sims was so much better when he came on after his bench spell though.
Perhaps you see what I mean now?
He's better against a tired defence because he is so much more mobile.

| Sims had a cracking game tonight. In his first spell he seemed to take 2 carries every set, he had his hands on the ball a lot and got through plenty of work. Also made some good offloads which led to at least 2 breaks.

| I understand what Rd is saying but we don't really have a forward to start wit that will ware down.a defence sufficiently and also that will give us the start with the intensity that we need.
Until we have a fully fit set of forwards I don't think we have many options apart from hill n sims to start. Baily cox king and dodds Harrison Evans when fit will give us more options and ability to give players a rest if needed. Not to mention the competition for a place.

| With players starting to come from injury there is enough skill in the team to spread the ball early within sets so as not to have to rely on barnstorming runs from the props.
