| Monas, Grix and House have only played a game or so since their injuries, so we were always going to struggle to win this one. I was surprised how little ball Hill got during the match, until the second half I hardly knew he was on the field. Still, we seem to have the experienced players back for the end of the season and they should be fit and healthy for the important matches, so perhaps we can make the GF again.
At the moment we seem to have two players in the HB position who are not quite good enough for a top four side - GOB and Myler. I think TS really needs to take a decision on both at the end of this season rather than persisting next year and subjecting us to Groundhog Day. I think it was Lilly Allen that once said "madness is repeating the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different result".

To answer your question Ratchford has, generally when paired with Bridge, done it in several matches this season and proven himself worthy of a starting place at half-back.
Myler hasn't. He has come off the bench once or twice and played well on the back of a dominant team performance.
Years after we signed him, I'm still waiting for him to take a game, [iany game[/i, by the scruff of the neck and deliver a controlling, authoritative, dominant, skilled, mature performance.

I think you've summed it up perfectly, Winslade's.
GOB (to me) is just not up to it, at this level. He's a Widnes, Wakefield, Hull KR level player (no disrespect to any of these sides). He hasn't the nous/savvy of an Andy Greg, Derrick Fox, and doesn't look like he can change a game, should we need to.
Myler isn't an out and out scrum half (which we need). He stands on the edge too much. HE NEEDS THE BALL IN HIS HANDS, AND HE NEEDS TO GET INTO THE GAME MORE. Some of Myler's kicks today were great, but nowhere near enough ball in hand stuff
If we want consistent CC/GF appearances, we need a top level scrum half.
Mr Moran. Time to get your chequebook out.

| Leeds are a good side and so are Wire. If McGuire's pass to Hall has been called forward as it deserved to be then the 2nd half would have been even more Wire's. Just not our lucky day today.A GF win at Old Trafford is far more important to the club at the moment, anyway.

| The semi final is not a game in which to be experimenting with different player combinations unless TS is hoping to fry bigger fish this year. Arguably our best half back pairing this season has been Bridge & O'Brien but we are stuck with having to accommodate other young players in these positions because we have a team of utility players who need game time to build a first team for the future. We seemed to have too many Jack of all trades on the pitch today with the result that all structure disappeared till the last 10 minutes ,although the defence was good mostly throughout the game. The repeated lost ball & panic rugby was not helped by the lack of a designated playmaker . I think Ratchford will be an excellent future loose forward to take advantage of broken play running.

And from where will this 'top level scrum half' come? There are no UK halves any better than we have already, and no Aussie talent will come over now as we can't offer enough money.

| Am I the only one who actually thought that rather than knock the team the Leeds forwards bossed the first half, and but for a dodgy looking (forward) pass we could have been in a good position to dig ourselves out of the hole in the second. That's rugby league though, a lesser team might have got a real stuffing there but we almost got back into it and credit the team for not throwing in the towel.

Go back and watch that pass again. Watch the line on the pitch and where mcguires feet are when he passes the ball. Then look at Halls when he receives it. Then look in the mirror and tell yourself off for being a stupid boy.

| I'll tell you something. Agar wouldn't have split a winning formula up.
If Agar had have done what TS had done in his first season as coach he would have been sacked.
TS will get away with it on the back of previous success.

Ratchford impressed me most last season at Full Back. Other than that I've been impressed with him at Loose if we're not going down the road of predictable Looses who are just extra Props. I find him to be a good open play/broken field runner. You don't get that space at Half Back. He's no HB, for me.

I've just watched the match on replay and must admit that on tv it doesn't look that bad a pass. However I was sat bang in line with it at the match and can assure you it was several feet forward. When Hall scored I wasn't too deflated as I thought there was no way Bentham could have missed that forward. How wrong was I.

In the replay he stretches his arms out to catch that ball, implying to me it's yards forward. Dubious grounding for his first, too.

| What is this blindspot warrington fans have with regards to ratchford? He is about a good a half back as Adam doyle. In the first half we were probably the poorest with ball in hand i have seen for a VERY long time. When he was moved and bridge was put there we got going and created several clear cut chances. As for people saying put him at loose forward, did they not see his attempt at defending today?

Clutching at straws big time there. Not even a flat pass, perfectly expected pass. Get over it.

That's not how you judge a forward pass. Its the direction the ball leaves the hands when passed.

Thinking about it in positive terms, we have as good a set of halfbacks as any team in the UK, and no team can get better than us from Australia because they won't have the money.
When were we last in this position?

| Honestly not too fussed. Just wasn't our day. The first half killed us, really. Giving away a stupid obstruction, then kicking the ball out of the full, to defending 3 straight sets. I knew that we'd have to pull out something special to win. Think if we'd have played how we played in the second half then we'd have caned them, they were just too good in the first half at pinning us down, coupled with us dropping left right and centre when we got down their end.
Happy to see they didn't give up second half though. Ratchford is no 6 or 7, especially with Myler, they're both runners, Ratchford gets that ball and there's no way he even looks to pass, not even if he's caged in, I've said it time and time again, he's a one man band, tries to do everything himself, that's liveable at Full back or centre, but not at 6 or 7.
We should have started Grix at centre, Bridge at 6 with Myler at 7, and have Ratch come off the bench when and if they tired. Which they did tire.

We didn't play that well, but we had at least three clear cut chances to score which we bombed: if two of those had gone to hand, we would have won and the debate on here would have been about Wembley tickets not about Myler/Ratchford/Bridge.
We aren't a million miles off Leeds. Play a 10 game series against them and I reckon it would be either 5-5 or 6-4 to Leeds. Considering the players we have lost we have done well to stay with the top sides this season so the players deserve some credit for that.
