Talk about clutching at straws! It may reveal me to be shallow in my dedication to RL compared to your good-self but I am afraid I do not follow NRL and most certainly never see any news of their under 20s competition. I reckon there are more UK RL fans like me than like you. You can't expect outrage at something no-one has heard about!

To assume we only want Hardaker banned to disadvantage Leeds is ridiculous.

He was shown on Sky Sports 1 on a Friday night appearing to say a homophobic insult. The RFL needs to react accordingly as it could damage the image of the game and could have offended lots of people watching the game at home.

As someone said earlier, a criminal investigation is also possible and in my mind is warranted.

To be totally honest, I'm not d about hardaker, it doesn't affect ot concern us, however I am bothered about what happens with ablett, due to his house action on Friday.

Now, wait for him to get 3 games, then the Leeds fans will be running around and quarreling with us over that.

I heard it mentioned on SL show last night - but the camera didn't really linger and I wasn't really paying attention.

Ablett could easily have broken Monaghan jaw or fractured his skull.. There is absolutely no place in our game for swinging a boot at the head of someone scoring a try. I think the RFL should have made an example of him on this one and given him 5 matches.

Really speaking the matter of abusing the ref should disregard any homophobic content, which is an issue that the pc brigade have brought into modern society as a form of positive discrimination. If the alleged comments had called him a t***er, a wa***r , called his parentage into doubt or even implied that he liked the company of sheep nothing more would have been said.
Kick discrimination into the long grass.

There didn't seem to any malicious intent on Ablett 's actions ,he was going for the ball in my view.

I don't particularly want to see ZH band but I would like him be more than the man his alleged homophobic comments make him out to be. Publicly apologise on sky tv and social and national media. Then get back on the horse and play great rugby league.

But he shouldn't, it's outlawed for a reason because it's dangerous and can go wrong.

He made a reckless choice to do an illegal manoeuvre, and ended up booting someone in the face, someone that appeared to be clearly concussed and couldn't stand up straight.


They don't even allow soccer kicks to the face to a downed opponent in the majority of mixed martial arts promotions, that tells you how bad an idea it is.

He was going for the ball and instantly checked he was alright, but it's illegal to kick the ball from someones hands. It's also in the act of scoring so should've been an 8 point try but the ref didn't refer it to the video ref.

Also Ablett's reaction and attitude when the ref called him over was a little poor, surely he must have expected it?

Calling someone a 't0sser' or 'w4nker' is not an oppressive slur. Those words mean you touch your genitals for pleasure, and people who touch their genitals for pleasure don't have a history of being oppressed in our society.

Using the word Hardaker used is to say 'you are a homosexual and being homosexual is bad/weak/disgusting/not normal/whatever'. The word is homophobic and helps with the oppression of homosexuals.

They are totally different in social context and application. While I don't think Hardaker is necessarily homophobic, I think this incident should be used to make the public aware that those words are not OK, and why.

I do kind of resent the picking choosing of what is OK and what isn't in terms of oppressive slurs. Sexist ones seem to go under the radar, for example.

The 'PC gone mad' shtick is only true if you live in a world where gay people don't suffer from discrimination, abuse and worse every day.... that isn't this one.

If you want to start a campaign for an end to abuse of masterbators or perhaps consensual beastialiters (sp?) then go ahead...

If you read my earlier post you saw that i suggested a sine die ban for abusing the ref .....but positive discrimination in society serves only to highlight what some people see as making some people different from others. An end to positive discrimination would allow people to blend in seamlessly, for instance when i fill a form in do i really want to see questions asking for my religion ,race, colour & sexual orientation ? It is all discrimination of some sort that i don't really want any part of.

I'm with nine arches on this one, offence is completely subjective, why people think calling someone a c**t isn't really worth talking about whereas saying fag is, is beyond me, in both instances someone is being abused verbally I remember cas getting fined for £40k or thereabouts as some fans were shouting homophobic abuse at Gareth thomas, shortly afterwards saints were playing leeds on sky, you could here very clearly the leeds fans chanting 'you fat ginger bas!*rd' to James Graham, no fine. Two people abused, two different outcomes. This argument of historical treatment of homosexuals and discrimination somehow makes it unequal doesn't wash with me, one rule for all, otherwise you are perpetuating that people should be treated differently and keeping in place discrination..

the best bit is that on the Leeds board, their defense is 'there is no proof he said it'.

You cant argue against stupidity/ignorance on that scale.
