I honestly think we could beat you (or come extremely close to beating you) without Benny or Gaz back. Obviously we couldn't first time round but I believe we lost more down to us bombing our chances. For the most part our defense was very good I thought. Against another team the scoreline would have been far bigger.'"
I don't know which one was correct as both work.
Yes I rthought it was atkins' poor passing first of all when you bombed three good chances but when I watched the replay it was riley over running it I thought.

I'm certainly at least as creative as our half-backs.

| If we had capitalized on our chances the game could have been very different ![Sad icon_sad.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_sad.gif) But that's rugby and we must move on. win or loose I'm looking forward to a cracking game ![Thumbs up icon_thumb.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_thumb.gif) and... [u=#FF0000IF[/u we do loose (which we won't because we're ded ace so there) ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif) then I hope saints win the GF. (Yes shocking I know! ![CURTAIN curtain.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//curtain.gif) ) As I can't really be doing with Wigan having yet again, something else to talk about. Or Leeds, as they finished 5th and shouldn't be allowed to get this far IMO.
Best of luck, hope you get beat ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

I see from that summary you haven't actually read that thread, or you would know that's complete rubbish - even the opening thread said "if we get there", and the vast majority of Wire fans told them to stop being ridiculous and getting ahead of themselves. Maybe you would have a better idea of how our 'legions of graceless fans' behave if you actually paid attention to the real world for a while, instead of spouting ignorance and, after insulting them, claiming an insult in reply as proof.

| Saints have the experience, they are at home and have quite a good record against us. It's been 4 years since they lifted a trophy and will be very hungry to taste success. On the flip side we have already won our annual trophy so may not be playing with as much desperation as Saints. I think if it's dry we will win and if it is wet then Saints will as they are more of a penalty, penalty, try type of team and we like to strike from anywhere on the field.

I've never seen it rain as hard as I saw it at Wembley a few weeks ago, and we won against the World Champions, so theory doesn't and up to the evidence I'm afraid.

| As well as playing in the wet at Wembley, the most fluent, error-free and cohesive 40 minutes of rugby we’ve played this season came in the first half of the Leeds game at home where it hammered down throughout. We were 30-0 up inside half an hour, but then when the rain stopped approaching half time we started messing up and didn’t score a point for 40 minutes and almost let Leeds back into the game.
So we can play wet-weather rugby when we have to (at least we can against Leeds), but obviously, our game is more suited to dry conditions.

This is the key - we stop playing as recklessly when it rains, because that's suicidal. Perhaps what we need this weekend is rain, to keep the silly plays to a minimum, and give us more Saints mistakes to take advantage of. It was very dry a week last Saturday, and look how much good that did us.

Fair enough comment Jay, although playing 'catch up' rugby might just be harder in the rain especially when it becomes "reckless" and then "suicidal"?
We need to stop panicking whatever the weather and try and control the game like our last visit to Saints when we were top notch IMO

I do enjoy watching the creative rugby we play, which isn't clear from my earlier comment, but we do seem to be panicking more easily this season (especially in the playoffs) which is when it becomes reckless. You need to be calm and aware to correctly judge when an offload or a long pass is likely to work, while desperately trying to offload from every tackle will result in giving the ball away as often as not, and put you further behind than you were already.
