Brian Noble is a classy individual. Clarke is a prick.

| People were throwing stuff at Clarke the other night, jelly babies etc. The cameraman picked them up and ate them which I had mixed feelings over, I'd hate for him to be ill.
It's stuff like this that lets us (as a club) down, I know he's a bit mardy at times and lets his heart rule his head when speaking on TV, I'm prone to calling him a widge, but I don't think there's a line. The satisfaction should come from us hopefully winning the league, knocking them out of the cup etc, and him having to comment on it, not launching stuff at him.

| One thing is for sure, he's not going to be any nicer to us if we boo and throw stuff at him. In fact it just embarrasses the club and it really makes me cringe.
I can't stand Clarke when he commentates on Wigan, and indeed when he brings Wigan into games they're not even playing in, but he is doing his job of creating discussion, giving viewpoints we may not have considered as ordinary fans and promoting good rugby league. I've sworn at him a few times on TV, but equally he has argued with the other two cretins to make points that I was making myself in my front room.
All things considered, he could sit in the commentary box wearing a Wigan shirt and shouting 'Warrington #### Dire ####### Scouse thieving Wire scum #####' in some sort of Tourette's-style rant for 80 minutes and it still wouldn't affect what takes place on the field.

| Just look at the replays of when he has commented on Wire games this eason, the man is clearly showing a bias that should not be permitted by his sky bosses. Before any smart comes back and says this is rubbish, then listen to the commentary of previous games first and then give an honest opinion

| Quote ="fartownfan"If anyone should go from the Sky team, it's definitely Hemmings.
Not only is he horrendously biased and has a huge chip on his shoulder, but he also has absolutely no idea what the hell he is talking about. That just isn't on.
Clarke does display a pie bias, but he knows the sport and has been there and done it.
It's a little ironic that some folk are bagging Clarke for praising one aspect of Fartown's game, when if in fact you listened to his full match commentary he was very complimentary about Wire for most of the match. And justifyably so, they were great that night.
It was lucky we could hear Clarkey say anything at all over the sound of Eddie beating himself off over Wire in the commentary box.'"
I really don't understand this supposed bias that Eddie has for Warrington. Yes, he lives in the town, but from listening to his commentary, if he has to have bias against one team, it would be St Helens, not Warrington.
And looking at his Wikipedia page, it seems that his "bias" also extends to Wigan too.

| As I've said before, Clarke used to be OK with us (he probably thought along the same lines as Lindsay "they're a nice little club"icon_wink.gif, he'd give us praise when needs be, and was, on the whole, quite complimentary 90% of the time. Now we've become a threat to his beloved Wigan, his attitude to us has changed over that last couple of years.
Clarke does himself no favours, with his obvious pro Wigan bias. You don't hear it (much) from O'connor and McDermott, who were both ex-Wigan players ....in fact, they're reasonably objective about Wigan, but Clarke's attitude to Wigan makes the Hansen/Lawrenson love-in to all things Liverpool, seem non-existant.
Yes, Clarke was (on the whole) complimentary to us on Friday, but I think some posters on here are getting a touch paranoid about it all, now.
Final Clarke point (for now), why the #### did he do that piece infront of the South Stand on Friday night, when he knew he would get a reaction from the South Stand...just stupid...nearly as stupid as the ends of bells that were allegedly chucking stuff at him.....nobs.
Oh, and to call Hemmings a Warrington fan, is quite frankly, ridiculous.
I've known Hemmings for about 8 years now, and he's never had a good word (even through gritted teeth) to say to me, about the Wire.
As we all know (well, the ones of us without our heads buried in the sand), Hemmings is a Widnes fan...END OF.
His pet SL team (when the Comics haven't been in SL) has been Stains. We can all tell it in the tone (and vocabulary) of his commentaries, and pre and post match analysis.
Since our CC win 2 years ago, Hemmings and Stephenson have been (deservedly) very complimentary to us, as you'd expect. Compare this to a few back, when, if we were on Sky and we'd won, they'd grudgingly praise us. But if we'd lost...wew, they wouldn't half lay into us.
That's what happens when teams start to transfer good form to trophies...commentators like to engratiate themselves to successful sides...it gets them more interview time etc.

| Phil Clarke is a Wigan fan, so is always going to be biased. However, he is not anti anyone else, and his analysis is top drawer.
Get over it and stop whining, for once.

Did you miss this from earlier in the thread:
Quote ="Paul Youane"I thought his intro on King was good and he used the stooges in the South Stand booing him perfectly.'"
I agree with this, he used the crowd to make a good point about how fickle and short sighted some of our fans can be. It became popular to boo King when obviously there were other factors going on affecting the whole team. It's now popular to boo Clarke, despite him often saying very complimentary things about us.
And yes, throwing stuff at him is completely unacceptable. Ironically, it his supposed bias that is a problem, yet the bias against him is even stronger!

I just thought it was (obviously) inflammatory, as we were always going to get the "Clarkey is a @#%&er" chant, and made the club's fans look like nobs (of which there are more than a few, unfortunately) . Someone at Sky should have had a word with Clarke, and told him to do his piece elsewhere. This was "pouring petrol on the fire".
We all know every club has some fickle fans (ffs, there were even some boos which could be heard at half time v Stains the other week).

| Personally I use the x30 forward button when his mug appears on the screen. His 'opinions' are usually ludicrous like at MM, when he came up with a statement about faster diagnosis of injured players and their removal from the pitch to get the game restarted. Since then I've not had any interest in what he has to say. If he's biased towards Wigan, so what? It'll make it taste all the sweeter when we turn them over (again).

But if Clarke had done his interview on another part of the pitch you know as well as I do that some of the kn*b heads would have claimed it as a victory in that Clarke was frightened to "face" the fans.
In any game there will be a remark from one of the commentators / summarisers that a "fan" will take exception to if they so desire.
What happens is that they forget the other positive comments made during the game.

no they wouldn't Rogues...no-one would have given it a second thought.
I can just imagine it, your average "fan" on the South Stand, saying to his mate "HOW DARE THAT @@@@'ED CLARKE NOT DO AN INTERVIEW INFRONT OF US, SO WE CAN'T ABUSE HIM"
It was inflammatory
I'm surprised we didn't get the usual Sky appology "We're sorry for the chanting, which may have upset some viewers, which you may have heard during Phil's piece" from Eddie

| Phil Clarke...... He's probably a nice Bloke but he's a Cock between two Balls....
lets not, absolutely, not forget that we Warrigton wolves swing the Ball from one flank to the other better than any other side I've Seen over the past five or so seasons......
but i just can not forget the time he taught us all "two outstanding examples of Wigan getting the ball out wide" to show what wigan "do best" and end up saying "alright the final Ball goes to ground" and "although that play breaks down".
its the same as Alan Hansen on Match of the day saying "the Spurs keeper is one of the best penallty stoppers in the country ...alright that one bursts the roof of the net..... and that one just goes past his hand.... but they are just two examples of what he can do"
he's a stupid lover like I say a nice bloke But he talks
