The thing I find most irritating about him is the way he builds up everything he says, as though it is going to be the most insightful, intellectual and profound statement ever to come out of a rugby league commentators mouth.

I'm not sure he has ever said this, but if not, he will next week.

heres the thing, its not paranoia, i know what you mean, up till around 2009, possibly 2008 when we were plucky challengers on the fringes, you're right, he was very very complimentary, skip forward to us winning the cup in 09(or possibly after the semi final) his tone and his is i game comm and "did you know eddeh" have not been favourable to us, you say that about the abuse that he's had off us, thats as a result of his slanted commentary.

You just have to watch our games over the last 12 months, this isn't the first one of these threads i've started (first one that relays a homeless persons thoughts though) and on sky games that we've won, he's snarked and pointed out our errors but its been mentioned, how he goes silent when we get on top.

Tis really annoying, and disapointing as well, clarkey(again) used to be one of the highlights of sky commentary when everyone was slagging off eddie and stevo, he's now become as bad as them.

Agree Clarke is a nob. He hates Leeds. Did you not hear what he said about Danny McGuire last season? I also thought Eddie Hemmings was a Wire supporter?

Have to agree with both sets of arguements here. He does come out with some utter sometimes, but his job is to commentate and give his opinion. Just be thankful his opinion means nothing to the outcome of the game. I prefer commentators who add a personal view of things rather than text book, drab crap. I dont think he questioned the grounding of the try just because it was a Warrington player, and dont think he'd want to ruin Rhys' 'special moment'.

He saw someting and questioned it, well within his job description. Anyway, it gave us all a chance to watch Rhys tear Leeds apart with his angle's over and over and over.

I wholeheartedly agree with what you say, he is composed and considered in his comments. I took exception to his deathly silence when Hemmings asked his opinion on Myler's try, whilst opining without prompting regarding Watkins' effort.

I loved his considered point (at Cardiff) regarding dragging off injured players for treatment as it was holding up the game. This was in the wake of King's and Sa's injuries. Priceless. What a plank.

what made me laugh is that because the video angles were not conclusive it was a 50/50 call and he wondered why Ganson didn't go to the vid ref, well Mr Clarke,Ganson was right next to the action watching it from ganson vision not sky vision.

Sorry mate, but squealing "no, it was-eeeeeeeeeernt" after that clear forward pass didn't come across as 'composed and considered'. It was a mardy reaction that was decidedly incorrect.

Sorry mate...re-read it. Should have read "if the ref wasnt sure he would have gone to the video ref..he was". Must have been a beer moment, thanks for pointing out my error (must remember to only drink softdrinks with sunday lunch when recovering from late saturday night session!)

The bit about personal decision is still valid though. If the officials on the pitch (a damn sight closer than sky cameras) make an honest call then thats it. pretty much why TS dont like video refs

I agree with a lot that's been said allready.

To be fair to Clarke, he used to be really fair towards us, until about 2 years ago (coincidently, the same time when Eddie + Stevo used to be really against us, now E+S can't stop purring about us(imo)). We used to get a level headed analysis from him before, during and after the games. He didn't get much abuse from the South Stand, and he used to take whatever the banter was, in good favour.

Maybe he's read this forum in the last couple of years, and he's got a t1tty-lip on with us. Maybe it's the abuse some elements of the South Stand have given him recently.

He doesn't do himself any favours with his non stop "stats". TBH, you can make a stat for anything, and spin it round to suit in a lot of situations. Clarke just takes it to the next level of antagonation.

Going back to Saturday's match, Clarke's performance was at best, poor, at worst, just plain biased against us.

Some of his prolonged silences with the mic (particularly when Barry Mac made him look like the end of a bell regarding the Leeds forward pass) were pathetic. It was almost like he was sulking.
His purring for Watkins try (a v. good SL try) was embarrasing "I'll be very surprised if that's not the Irn Bru try of the month", yet our sensational try a few mins later, barely got a grunt out of him.

Yes, Clarke is a nob, but have we brought on his obvious dislike of our club, on ourselves?
