Thats beyond the control of RLFAN's we can only do so much to keep them from being leaked as Mods.

It wasn't a criticism on RLFANS or the mods its a criticism of the RFL and the idiots who it sees fit to release the fixtures to prior to the 'official' release.

Since when did an independent fan site have to do as the club tells them?

I post on a Liverpool forum where pretty much anything goes and Liverpool are a million times bigger than Warrington. The forum is aligned to a well known fanzine sold outside every match and is well known by the club and the media so it's certainly not some little secret but no one from LFC tell the owners what can and cannot be posted.

The proposed fixture lists are sent to each club 2 weeks in advance of the official release date. Each club is entitled to request certain changes if they have good reason or point out any errors that they may see.

The lists are normally acceptable but I do believe that this year there were a couple of glaring mistakes and several changes have been made albeit not to ours!

I can just imagine the furore on here if the fixture lists were to be released only to be changed 2 weeks later

I'm not trying to start an argument but I'd still be interested in a genuine answer to this question if any mod would like to offer one?

The Liverpool forum I refer to is frequented by journalists from national newspapers (Tony Barrett of the Times is a regular poster and Brian Reade of the Mirror is a well known reader of it, there are no doubt countless more). Officials of the club are known to be registered too.

It does not have even 1% of the amount of rules that this forum has.

Warrington RLFC are a significantly smaller sporting institution than Liverpool FC so I fail to see why they apparently have almighty control over an independent supporter's website.

I think the owners of Liverpool have bigger problems to worry about than some internet warriors on a message board.


On a more serious note, I understand this site takes a cautious approach to matters like this due to the threat of legal action. As this site is funded by donations and run by volunteers, any type of legal action would cripple it and force it to disappear (which judging by some post on here recently may not be such a bad thing, but thats a whole different thread). In theory, legal action may never be taken but while the possibility is there, the threat is strong enough for the mod's an admin to take a cautious approach.

Some common sense at last.

There is an embargo on fixtures being posted on RLFAN's.

The fixtures are still subject to change until the official release date.

I am locking this thread and any further threads that pop up until they are released officially by the RFL.
