| Quote ="john_wilshires_physio"I'd agree with that.
Paul Cooke. I know he's an off field loose cannon. His natural game is to the left as we play, he provides excellent ball for Yeaman and Raynor. Briers naturally enjoys the right and his distribution this way is superb.
I'd like a halfback that compliments Briers too, Burrow roams around alot and isn't too structured in his play which would concern me given how we set up.
Cooke would be my 1st choice and another goalkicking option.
I wouldn't mind somebody like McLinden to be honest, although he's largely played fullback for the past 18 mths.'"
Paul Cooke would be an excellent signing. It's getting him over this side of the penines though. I see Sinfield as more of a leader on the field. Professional to the end. Great kicking game and can also kick goals. If I were to choose between the two, for me it would come down to attitiude and Sinfield would get it.

Yeah, either or really. I wouldn't be fussy. Both excellent at what they do, Cooke just seems to have issues, Sinfield you get the impression lives, breathes RL, consumate proffesional off field too.
We've got the bunce to make these things happen, it's how attractive a proposition we are really.

| Is Sinfield out of contract? if not, the chances of Leeds letting him go to us are roughly the same as us accepting an approach from Wakefield for Briers. Also he would be another of those players whose had success elsewhere and would see Warrington as a step down in his career.
If Salford get relegated then Luke Robinson would be a good signing, alternatively if we are looking in the NRL I wouldn't write off Kimmorley who has always done damage when he's played British teams. The danger is we may now be left with a second-rate replacement, such as when we were planning on Orford and ended up spending over the odds to bring Sullivan over.

| I can`t understand why you would put Paul Cooke forward as a signing unless you were on about reverting him to 13, Lee Briers and Paul Cooke are both players that like to control games and they are leaders and if you play them both together then one of them will have to take a back seat at being a leader and you will then only have half the player.
Lee Briers needs a foil to attract defenders away from him, we need that nippy type half back that will cause defences a lot of problems by taking on the line and Rob Burrow is one of the trickiest customers in the game at doing that and he wins a lot of penalties as well for high shots and defenders trying to hold him down.
Lee Briers and Paul Cooke are both organisers, distributors and they can kick teams into submission but we don`t need 2 of the same type player in the half backs as like i said one will have to take a back seat role at being a leader. We need an attacking threat like a Burrow or Lockyer type player that will take on the line which will leave Lee Briers to do the organising and kicking with the occasional taking on of the line.

| You don't see Lockyer as an organiser? I watched him orchestrate on of GB's biggest defeats on home soil. Don't be fooled, he is an organiser.

I don't agree. We need a half back that can take the weight of Briers and Cooke / Sinfield that mould can do that. In one post your criticising Bridge for individuality and saying he's not a team player then putting Rob Burrow forward as a viable option who is much the same. Rob Burrow is largely individual. That's not to say I wouldn't want him I'm merely pointing out your indifferent approach.
For me any halfback that improves Warrington is welcome, Robinson I can see the merit in, as Sally has said the likes of Sinfield would be diffiult to attract.
If we were as you say after a ball runner at 6, no more, a guy who attracts defenders, i'd rather they signed a Preston Cambell, Amos Roberts sort of charachter.
At the end of the day it'll boil down to who's available at the end of the season, who's genuinely interested and at what cost.

He is a great organiser i agree, he is also a great attacking threat that looks to take on the line when ever possible and he still retains his pace to finish off any breaks he makes. Paul Cooke is similar to Lee Briers, he is most effective when in the opponents 10-20 metre area with a short kicking game or a killer pass and he will not make the long range beaks that Lockyer is capable of and then finishing off the break.

You know full well Im right.
How arrogant is it that you have assumed that Johns would automatically sign for you just because he played 3 games for you a year or so ago?

Yeah your right, that's all we based it on. Never mind the 1,000,568 articles whereby he stated that if his body help up he'd be here in 2008. The arrogance of us, incredible.

| Johnathan Thurston - talented young player. IMO be the best player in the world when Lockyers playing days are over.
If not Thurston, I think we could get Dobson and he's proven in Super League.

| Michael Monaghan had a fantastic game against the warriors given the chance at half back. I havnt seen him play enough half back to say I want us to sign him but if he continues to play that well while Orford is injured then he should definitley be looked at.
Stacey Jones and Sean Long are both off-contract at the end of the year and while I dont think they should be given a massive salary they would be worth looking at.
Im not sure on Gowers situation with Penrith at the moment but he wanted out not so long ago and would be a better option then Long IMO.
One half back I cant help but think the club is going to be interested in is Brett Kimmorley who IMO is way out of form. However I thought Barrett would be a flop with Wigan and it turns out hes far from one.
If Cullen wants to stick with Briers, Bridge and Grix then it would be worth looking at stengthening other positions such as wing.
Hazem El Masri doesnt look like he will be staying at Canterbury and is a decent player who kicks goals for fun which would let Briers consontrate on setting the team up after a try is scored.
Brent Tate is also off contract, can play wing/centre and would be worth a look at.

So you based it on tabloid info. Superb.
BTW, Ive seen most of those articles when the links were posted on here. Most of them centred around the journalists opinion that Warrington are the front runners etc. I dont recall any direct quotes from Johns.

| Long is off contract at the end of this season and I am sure would welcome a move to be closer to his drinking/gambling and all round aircraft antics buddy, Martin Gleeson. A word of caution, the taking of kicks at goal would not form part of his contract.
With the wedge freed up by Long's departure we'd be able to get Lockyer no messin'. It's a win, win, win, win situation.
Get him signed, now!!!!
