Its odd that they're not making Catalan & Saints play, since that could affect the 4th & 5th placings - academic in terms of play-off, as 4 plays 5, but maybe impacts on any finishing place money/bonus.

I guess it suits Saints, but don't know if there's been any official announcement/explaination as to why that game isn't going ahead.

Seems like they're now saying it's because of Covid and international travel....

Think some of you are forgetting if Wigan get beat by the Giants we will go 2nd, this game is important for the Giants as it will guarantee 7th which is the standby team for the play offs.

Can see why you all don't agree with my comment but we all know that only the fans of the team that wins it will rate it.

It'll be a win with an asterix next to it. Plus I would quite like to be there in person to see our first win. I also want our win to be after a full interrupted season where no one can question whether we deserve it or not.

Seems that Salford v Wakey is a dead rubber now after Salford's win deduction for financial irregularities.

Salford have been deducted 3 wins with immediate effect, so as far as I can tell they won't come in to contention. I'm pretty sure that means Huddersfield will definitely get the standby spot regardless.

Well then let's win it this season and then win it again next season and have an even bigger party.

That's fair enough I suppose. I'd still rather win it now though. I don't want saints fans to be gloating and lording it up, I find red vee a far more entertaining place when they're all moaning, miserable and coming up with lunatic conspiracy theories. I don't want Wigan winning it again because they're wigan and I really don't want Leeds to win it from 5th again, Hull re ally don't deserve the chance IMO they have been mathematically out of the running for about a month. Catalans are the least offensive alternative winners but I'd rather we won it before them.

Don't think anyone can gloat about winning it this year. Games being cancelled, teams being handed weeks off at a time whilst some teams played 3 games in a week...

The only people who will try and big the GF up this year, is the teams that are in it. Ultimately, after that, it's only the the team that wins it that will try and claim it as a win as good as any other year. Everyone else will wave it off as a nothing year and a final that was reached with controversial and questionable decisions in terms of the format along the way.

You know for a fact thats how it will go and I for one don't want the year we finally do it to be the year where conversations like that happen. I want a legitimate full season with a big fat W over a top 4 team at a packed out OT. Only then will we be taken seriously.

I don't see any negative reaction to Leeds winning the challenge cup but that could be a bit to do with the emotion surrounding Rob Burrows battle against MND.
If we do manage to do it I think in the press it will be about us winning it for the first time since the same year that Newcastle last won the FA Cup or Churchill resigned as PM.
Fans of other clubs will try and pass it off but when Saints went on the run of GF defeats between 2006 and 2014 they just wanted a win and they would not have cared that the 2014 final was about Ben Flower and that they were pushed all the way by a 12 man Wigan. It was chip paper.
It would be the same for us.
Having watched the Saints v Wigan game last week I am not
convinced we are good enough anyway. Wigan were ruthless and Saints will be a lot better when big Al is back in the team.
If we do win it we will probably have to beat saints and Wigan and considering how they played last week if we du lift the SL trophy it will be by beating the best 2 teams.

Well I would like to win it and so would many more. I cannot see the reason for being so concerned about being teased. I think we would just about manage to cope.

The Challenge Cup was a lot less valid than the GF will be.

But Leeds are the cup champions, everyone knows that, and whoever wins the GF will be SL champions.

There will be no asterisk, it'll be in the history books forever.

I desperately want to win the GF this year.

I said we only had a slight chance, but it was a chance, the only game we lost was against Leeds, the game we played at less than 24 hours notice.

I really don't think any of that matters, simply because the teams that were always going to be in the play-offs are still in the play-offs. Bizarre though the season has been, it hasn't really affected who has qualified for the top six. There will still be play-offs and a final, like any other year. I really don't see how winning a grand final this year is any less of an achievement - unless of course one team in the final is scuppered by Covid absentees.

Speaking as a Wigan fan, if Warrington win the GF this year they will get full credit and no griping from me. Every team is doing their best to make the best of a terrible situation, and to keep the game from going bust due to losing the Sky money. I still think Saints are favourite, I still want Wigan to win but whoever does win will have done so as fairly as can be managed and will deserve due credit for the achievement.

When this season is done and dusted would I be correct in thinking the new season would start in February.. If so and we are still cursed with corona virus the new season could be interrupted like this one is.

I'm not sure how we could go into the next season without scrums though, what with the RLWC at the end of next year (noting NRL continued with scrums).
