To judge anyone on a game a few days after the biggest victory of your career is a bit harsh. Didn't we beat hull 80-10 on the Thursday after they played at Wembley. We were defensively excellent in the first half, then they scored a few tries off errors and we ran out of steam.

The CC final has definitely papered over the cracks, Saints just performed very poorly, and yes Warrington deserved to win. But does a good cup run mean that a season of poor rugby on the pitch should be ignored, not sure.

Wigan and Leeds fans used to complain about their coaches despite winning grand finals because of the rugby on show.

I personally think Price is bang average as a coach, and winning the cc may set Warrington back a few seasons if it means him keeping his job, whilst ignoring form over 90 percent of the season.

We were talking about this last night and you actually beat Hull 80-10 on the Thursday after you lost at Wembley last year. Shows it can be done but perhaps the partying takes more out of you than the game. And rightly so!!

Once we have Austin back we do need to get back to a). winning and if possible b). winning in style, but we're in knockout rugby mode now so winning is what counts.

Earlier in the season we were playing much more expansively, and I'm not aure how fit Austin was prior to the ankle problem tbh - this plus the loss of Ratch dulled our attacking threat.

Next year, I agree - with Austin, Ratch, D Clarke, Widdop, Currie, a fit BMM (hasn't he been a revelation last two games?) we have a wealth of attacking options and I expect us to reclaim the entertainers tag from the bottlers.

We turned up last night with A rightly hungover squad without our first choice from row and halfback pairing , playing an in form team and we ran them close for 60 mins . I was expecting a cricket score to be fair .

Next Friday when we absolutely take wakefield to the cleaners and stick a marker down we'll all be happy and gearing up for a playoff run .

If you look at last season also, Price may not entertain us every week in the league, but his record in knockout games against big teams is second to none - we've lost two knockout games only (against Cats and Wigan). IF we can stay in the playoff race AND get our best players back and show some our early season attacking form we could surprise those who have written us off.

Last night we faced a full-strength 3rd placed team without Austin, Brown, Hill, Cooper, King, Charnley, Currie and Patton. All but one of those are internationals.

Then we've got the usual moany-groany merchants pitching in.

Cas have a run in of Hull Fc, Saints and Wigan. Thats tough. If they cant win those games then we'll finish 5th. If they do win then we're buggered i think. Leeds and Wakie are in last chance saloon and will be desperate more than us for those points. Their jobs are on the line.

Simple answer no. We’ve just won our first major trophy since 2012, I wouldn’t consider this season a failure if we didn’t make the Playoffs. Although it’s frustrating our form at the moment I still trust Price to win the next two games.

I’m hopeful we can knuckle down the next two weeks and get two wins! ...Fingers crossed with Austin back in the halves along side Patton. Personally from the two games I’ve seen of Smith he isn’t up it, so I would stick with the spine of Ratchford, Austin, Patton and Clarke at 9.

I hope I’m proved wrong by Price and he’s plotted our route to the grand final via the long way round on purpose but reality is our form in the league is horrendous and last nights game should never had mattered as much as it did, but we’ve fallen that far from grace it did! that’s why despite our fantastic cup win we can’t paper over the cracks with it, we’ve gone from comfortable 2nd to in serious danger of missing out on the play offs which probably makes our situation seem worse.

In my 40 years of watching I can't think of a better victory than the CC final 2019. We are STILL 2nd in the league! Give your head a wobble. We do need to freshen up the squad, a couple more decent, experienced forwards + Widdop and a fit Austin is something to look forwards to! This squad is proven to be able to win the games that matter...so 2019 has a lot more twists and turns yet.

agreed.... and as readers of the warrington forum, i would say we have been subjected to probably the worst ones (outside of the VT)..... so quite some accolade.

In theory wakey and Leeds are like knockout games..lose em and its bye bye see you next season..win em and we are in the end of season comp.

Great really... so we have 2 games, against teams that wont finish in the top 5... with probably all our best players fit.

We will be 2 games into knockout rugby before the play offs start..... with a challenge cup in the bag.

pressure free rugby, with a group of players high on confidence and coming into form (hopefully)... 2 wins from the next 2 games will set us up nicely for a run at the grand final.

If we miss out on the top 5 I will streak on the HJ first game next season.

Jesus christ this forum is becoming more and more pathetic. Yes we do need to up our skill level and have dropped off for a while, but jesus christ. The man took us to both finals last year ( wait for the but we lost comments) took us to another final this year and can still make the playoffs and get to the final again. Yes clearly an awful coach and we'd be much better off with Chris Chester or Ian Watson who as far as i can tell have not even got to a playoff before.
