Quote ="Barbed Wire"Why is it now self entitlement, when you yourself justify this rebuild by the predecessors team beating these teams and therefore a relegation battle is necessary so we can actually then complete with them? You have said that a team finishing 3rd and getting knocked out of the playoffs or cup by Cas, Salford and Hull KR means that this is necessary. So surely the end product of this rebuild is to compete and best these teams? Otherwise what is it for?
You’ll point at the volume of changes as mitigation, but this was manufactured by the coach, it’s all by design. So why can’t we expect to compete with them? We’ve signed players from Catalan and Wigan, we’ve signed current NRL players. Add that to the group of hand picked players that he will have worked with for 12 months at the start of next season, why should 5th be acceptable?
The coach has picked the squad in its entirety, aside from Currie, Clark and Mulhearn. The coach has picked the coaching team. We have exceptional training facilities, a strong reserve team and academy.
This isn’t entitlement, it’s what the board should expect as a return for the investment. I’m not saying that we must win everything, not at all. But we should be competing with these teams. If not, then the project has failed, as the club will have regressed.
Your point in itself is contradictory. Wigan’s coach has been in post for the same amount of time as Powell, and is similarly resourced. Leeds have a newer coach, and are similarly resourced. So why can’t we compete with these? We are at the same or further advanced in our project, are we not?'"
Are you seriously saying that its self entitled for us to expect to win 2 cc finals, and 3 1st round playoff games against lesser resourced teams? Seriously? Are you seriously making that comparison to the teams some are expecting us to overtake next year as a god given right?
The board and the fans brought Powell in to make the changes. Some players wouldn't play ball so there were more changes.
Do you seriously believe that a newly assembled squad has an expectation to outcompete teams with similar resources, who are already established at the top end of the table, with good coaches and settled players, within such a short time frame. Eventually yes, but it'll take midway through next season, at least, for the additional new players to bed in.
I've got other things to do, like watch Liverpool on the box. Looking forward to witnessing some proper club support.
