| The longer the wait for the unveiling of who Williams has signed for, and when this contract is starting, the more I'm reminded of the David Myers saga. Apologies to the younger posters who may be disappointed that we hadn't signed a hairy biker in the past. Myers signed for us from Widnes, but claimed he had signed for Wigan. An RFL tribunal ruled in our favour, however, he didn't want to be at Warrington and after a handful of games for us he was transferred to Wigan.
It's also very odd that a player who claims to be home sick, appears to be in no rush to get back to the UK.
If, and it's a big if, we have signed Williams, we may not necessarily have a player who is 100% committed to the Wire.
Only time will tell, but I've a feeling there's much more to this under the surface.

| We seem to have a history of signings who are not fully committed to the club ,especially in recent times . Not committed & ridiculously expensive to maintain.

The bonded part. To be fair to george williams in this situation. He did wish to leave at the end of the season. And it was his team who released him straight away. He was committed to the cause until the end of the season in australia. So being in Australia at this moment may not be much of a bad thing.
The question comes on if he wishes to play in the world cup. Which wane would certainly want some game time from Williams if he wishes to play. Whether he can secure that deal in Australia until the end of the season. or if he comes home this year to play at home. Whether it be at warrington for the next 3 and a half years or if he goes to a loan club until the end of the year.

I'd Pick up Ligi Sao from Hull to add some size and aggression, he's one of my favourite forwards. Aggressive, hits like a truck and plays about 60mins a game. Defends very well and attacks very well, pick him up and let Sita go and that would be a BIG upgrade.

| I highly doubt Wigan will plump for Richardson. They’ll be patiently negotiating with Williams trying to get him down towards a salary figure that they’re prepared to pay, as they know him best and what he’s realistically worth. The problem is that Warrington can dangle the dollars carrot, which puts Williams in two minds - go back to Wigan where he’ll be the most comfortable or chase the money and try to make it work down here.
I’m not sure what Richardson could possibly offer Wigan that Harry Smith doesn’t. If anything Trueman would be a better fit if they could hang on another year.
I still think we’ll see Williams at Wigan and Trueman here with a transfer fee to Cas, who really need the money.

| Iirc Widdop signed for 3 years and we know he wants to get back to Aus but if he doesn't land an NRL deal he has to stay..
Then we know Austin has been told to look for another club
Then throw into the mix what is happening with DC. Will he go to the NRL or stay here and take Austins marquee spot..
So worst case is that Williams signs for Wigan (which I expect) a NRL club come in for Widdop and Clark. We could be left having o find a 6/7 & 9 for next year.
Being a bit mischievous we could end up with Richardson and Patton.

You'd be alright replacing Boris. Just bring in a pretty reasonable 12 year old and they'd do a better job.

My 12 year old Labrador would do alright. He's far more intelligent and manages a decent haircut now and then.

| So on Sky that an announcement is coming on Monday of who he's going to play for next season, but he might not be playing for that club this season.
Doesn't really narrow it down any. But I suspect if it was Wigan they would have been able to release Hastings early to accomodate him.

Strange one that if true. You would imagine Wigan could afford him now under the returning talent allowance, especially losing Burgess. Why not take him now?
Realistically, he’s Wigan’s to lose. I’d be surprised if he went elsewhere.

Yep, more likely it would be the home grown dispensation ( but I’m only going off what I’ve read elsewhere).

you know, part of me thinks that shouldn't be allowed in this instance, (or similar instances across the board) the 50% cap hit was for home grown players, retaining home grown players, however wigan sold him, pocketed and transfer fee and he's coming back, on super higher wages now.
Seems a little unfair if he's developed and got better elsewhere.

| I said on here a few weeks ago that we've made him a great offer (almost to good to turn down) and if he has turned that down in order to go back to Wigan for much much less money than what we've offered then fair play to him. Because of our lucrative offer I'm quietly hopeful that he'll be our player next year.

| The trueman rumours seem to have ground to a halt recently.
I'm not sure which of the two i would prefer, next year is an uncertain blank slate so its hard to decide or predict how we will go or what the thought process is.
Williams, more or less the finished article, coming into his peak, nrl background.
Trueman, 22, still developing, would cost less, possibly have him for 10 years, also possibly have the same situation we've got with clark about him going to the nrl if he gets better.

Maybe in the fine print they can’t apply it which may cause Wigan some difficulty?
