i just think its a load of rubbish. If a young man like Glenn can come into such a physical and competitive game as rl play a few games and not look out of place SURELY that is impressive in its own right!!!

Simon Moran is smart enough to leave this stuff to Tony Smith. Wire can hardly be said to be 'in decline'. We may not have completely blown everyone away like in 2011 but a close defeat in the CC semi and 3rd place in the table isn't too sloppy. From the number of posts you've made maybe you're a newer supporter, but five years ago we were still dreaming about our current level of achievement.

I've seen him play 3 times for the first team btw and two of those games i was stood with people off this site if you need proof.

why do people always revert to an easy cheap shot about Rhys when they have run out of things to say.
just getting a spot in the first team isn't enough its what u do with it that counts. Which when we have give the lad the opportunity he has taken well, whilst not meeting ur v unrealistic standards for a prop has not let himself down. Whatever strength there was in the rumour he was going to the nrl, then someone else may have been impressed with him.
that nrl gossip is by the the by now, at the end of the day tony smith knows more about this game than me and u and has decided by letting more experienced props go that players like Glenn can step up.
so lets end this debate as u are boring me and have it again at the end of next season. When i reckon he may have impressed u

I give up, nowhere have i criticised him, you used the word 'impressive' i disagree with that word because it implies he's stood out and he hasn't, he's done a job, he's been strong and he's not looked out of place but 'impressive' no.

That btw isn't a criticism, just a realistic opinion of a young lad stepping into the first team, he's done enough too justify a start but i've not thought 'wow, we need to drop Moz, Carvell or Woody and get him starting asap'.
Contrast that with Hill when he first came, i thought wow i'm impressed with this lad, the reason?
The reason is because i thought he was better than some of our starting props and i still think that.

The problem with this discussion is your, and by your i mean youth of today, overuse of hyperbole, everything is so polarised these days.

He's been good, he's not been impressive, that is not a criticism, Glenn is making the natural progression from youth team to full team and i think he 'could' be a great player but lets not
a) overstate his 'current' ability.
b) place unrealistic expectations on him because we're losing three forwards in the off season.

No one, but if he'd done it i would have been 'impressed'.

I'm basically in a semantic argument with the new guy, because i'm not some happy clapper fan who thinks that everyone who puts a p&b shirt on is the best thing since slice bread and that any form of critical analyse should be derided.

He has looked solid and he hasnt let anyone down.

The comment that he should be judged as impressive because he has made it into the first team is utterly ridiculous. It also seems to be the only argument being given towards his 'impressiveness'.
