We aren't going to have another halfback if we signing one until next season.
Bridge was a half and signed as a half, (and so was Ben Currie). Regardless of a players best positions now, it's about what to use as an Elastoplast.'"
Ben Currie was not a half. We signed him (I suspect) on his 16th birthday in 2010, and he was playing for Wigan U16's in the BR. He went straight into our U18's - in the BR. And as been already said, Bridge does not have the organisational abilities to play half. He has been a very good player for us in his time though, and IMO one of our best signings. He must surely depart at the end of this season as his injuries have not just caught up with him, they have bludgeoned him into the ground. So not much point in discussing where he should be playing anyway.

| I think we also signed M.Monaghan & M.O'Sullivan as half backs & they didn't work out either....just because Bridgey came as a half back it doesn't mean he is one of superleague standard. To be honest though,i thought Ratch also looked in the CBA camp yesterday & i do wonder at the fitness of certain team members if we are fading so badly & with such repetition.

I understand it as Currie was a schoolboy half.
He was 15 and playing as a forward when touring in Aus, Simon Moran signed him there and then before he came back to the UK.
Wigan(snooze you loose) was waiting until he came home and was 16. Pies found out when Currie got back and they threw the toys out of the pen at us.
So my post was misleading. He wasn't signed as a half, he just was a half.

He was never a half. He played loose forward for Golborne Parkside through all juniors (beyond a couple of weeks at fullback), our halfbacks were the Wigan scholarship scrum half, and the Saints scholarship fullback played stand off for us. So if he played all his junior rugby in the back row, was signed as a backrow and has continued to play backrow...he's probably not a halfback.
As much as your current halfbacks (2 of G'OB/Patton/Myler) are pretty ordinary...they are halfbacks. That is more than can be said for Bridge or Ratchford.

| I say it once again for the umpteenth time...
Unite Ratchford and Bridge at halfbacks.
I'm fully aware of how poorly both of them played this weekend.
Bridge struggled with no support play or creativity from Patton, who was completely out of his depth.
Bridge only had his defensive play of some credit but I never buy into this common rule of "defence win games" well it doesn't..,attack wins games!!!
Ratchford carried the ball too loosely when at FB which I don't like. He isn't in the game enough. He doesn't have a controlling role. He has the no6 on his back because he is quite simply the best hb we have on our books.
Remove the little men from the head of our attack and put Ratchford and Bridge back together. It was successfully our only consistent pairing.
It's hard for me to take any encouragement from what we saw v KR and I too say where do we go from here. I almost don't believe what I preach but it is the only combination TS stubbornly refuses to put together.

| Given who was available last night ratch shouldve been six and penny at full back. Say what you like about penny but he would've brought enthusiasm, pace and have cleaned out sio rather than ambling across like an idiotic Mr cool. Still no idea why penny doesn't figure given his early season form.

You know you're embarrassing yourself more than ever by blaming other players for bridge being last night, I'd like to say it's shocking but it's not whatsoever.
Aside from 3 poor kicks straight to Dixon and sio which you also pilloried Patton for, bridge was the invisible man last night.

| I can't answer for the condition of your eyesight FMC, but I'll repeat briefly for you.....
Bridge was totally lacking in ideas, his credit was his defence and that's about it. Patton was completely lacking at all levels. Ratchford was so far out of the action he got changed at the KC stadium.

I completely agree. KR had their Penny type player at FB, Dixon, I don't need to remind anyone of the damage he did to us.
Penny was doing great for us at FB, he just needed more time in that position. I'll say one thing, penny was better than Russell there.

My eyesight is fine, so much so that I've seen 3 posts from you since full time saying bridge was poor BECAUSE OTHER PLAYERS LET HIM DOWN.

I have to disagree with you FMC. Since the KR game that statement with the typo....Pe that was meant to say Patton. That isn't what you quoted. If you eyesight is fine then I cannot answer for your short term memory.

| My only concern if for my team, personally I have never met or spoken to either Raychford, Bridge or, MD for that matter, their mothers.
My concern this year as it was last season to get the best possible result from a complete coaching and player selection shambles.
Come 2016 when we have new stock or old stock, I will continually look for the best rolls to make our team successful.
Under this current stock of players, our best is Ratchford and Bridge....when they want to be.
Just get them together where they can get their hands on the ball.

So to summarise, Patton was out of his depth, and you're giving bridge a pass because of that. But he had a good defensive game even though he left a gap Dixon could have driven a bus through when he scored.
There was a debate pre match about whether bridge should play at 6 and what he should do to taken charge and boss the game , he did NOTHING.

| Bridge was lacking ideas. That is a fact.
He was lacking support from Ratchford. That is a fact.
Patton was out of his depth, and offered no meaningful combination with Bridge. That is a fact.
I don't understand your point FMC.
Love me or loath me, I care only about this team, and getting our next win. Bridge other than his defence was a useless as every other player bar Hill and Sims.
So learn and move on, recent history tells us that following a disastrous early part of the season in 2014, we found a winning combination R&B.
For feck sake, put them back together, and we'll either see a upturn in form or FMC can have a day he'll never get back, trailing through all my posts to ram them down my sweet throat.

| We'll all be happy when we win the middle 8's I think the team is done this season, 90% of the players are massively under performing so moving ratchford and bridge together finally will do very little I feel. I agree with putting penny at fullback and still don't understand why he was dropped? For me this season is a write off and is a learning year to bounce back from. I'll still go watch them and support them every week but I can't see us hitting any kind of form this year, fingers crossed a challenge cup would be nice. Love the wire but nobody's gelling and Christ knows why
