You beat me to it. I'd rather support a team that had just destroyed their opposition but the fans were a bit quieter all game than support a side that had been destroyed so resorted to foul play. They can have all of their flags and Turkish football chants but as long as we finish top of the league and then get through to the GF then I couldn't care less.

| Quote ="Dropkick Murphy"Dale Cavese was when they really came into their own and yes, that was towards the end.
However, they were singing before kick off and only occassionally stopped during the game despite how badly it was going for them.
I stand in the corner of the West Stand between the away fans and the South Stand, and they were far louder than the South Stand throughout.'"
suprisingly I have an opposite view,
I do However agree the pies support was good but as already mentioned they only got going towards the end when the scoreline was blown out and they decided they may aswell enjoy themselves...
I attended the game with a Leeds fan and a Huddersfield fan unsuprisingly they were both impressed by our brand of Football but they loved the pondlife corner.
the Hudds fan told me today he couldnt stop singing the "you've had your day out now eff off home" song all day, they absolutely loved the "colourful banter" that is produce in that south west corner....
I thought the rather offensive response to that ridiculous nah nah nah chant was brilliant and most definitely put a dent in the gusto in which it is normally sung....So well done pond life corner.
A point about the Acqoustics is that while at the game i didnt hear the "are you widnes in disguise" chant but heard it quite clearly on the Telly.....
its Bizarre .......

| Quote ="Dropkick Murphy"Correct. Imagine the Fletch being out sung by Wigan on a day like yesterday.
Never in a million years.'"
I've said it before but their is no passion in the Warrington support anymore. I remember being packed in the Fletcher Street when we played Australia in the early 90's. We were stood at the back but when we took the lead the celebrating was that much that we ended up near the bottom.
On Sunday, where I was stood, people were happy and were smiling and clapping when we scored but that was it. Me and the lad were jumping up and down hugging each other as the trys went in like a pair of loons, but we were on our own.
I think I realised this a couple of years ago when we beat Wigan in the semi final. If we'd had done that a few years earlier there would have been a full on pitch invasion at the final hooter. First trip to Wembley in 19 years and first good chance of winning it for 34 years. Fans are more content nowadays with politely clapping the team off and going home.

| They are getting better but they would have all left as usual if they had lost again Leeds. Remember in 09 after the semi final we played Wigan and they battered us but didn't care as we had Wembley coming up.

Sort of agree with the sentiment as most of the best home support areas are always behind the goals. Thats why its easier for the likes of Wigan to come to the HJ and create an atmosphere. Look at us v ST Helens @ the Stobart, the cup game V Huddersfield last season.

| Quote ="Dropkick Murphy"The Wigan Ultras get a bad rap on here, but I'm gonna go against the grain and say they've improved their support massively. I'm not really bothered what they call themselves as Ultras is a common name for all sorts of organised football groups across Europe, and the likes of Accrington Stanley and York City have done it here. They're not patricularly original either, as most of their songs seemed to be reworded Liverpool or Man United songs (which has also influenced their flag designs) and Dale Cavese is as generic as it gets in Europe - although I do like it.
The fact is though, they are loud and they don't go anywhere.
Let's be honest, once the result was beyond doubt yesterday what we all wanted to see and hear was "the Wigan walk" and silence from their end, so we could all wave them goodbye and sing about being top of the league.
What we actually saw and heard was a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that completely drowned out anything we could muster, leaving us to resort to a childish "you're sh*t" at the brief quiet moments of the tune. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs/chants, because as soon as "We are top of the league" got going by us it died out seconds later when everyone accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot and went back to "you're sh*t". No point even bothering with "We're gonna win the league", or "We shall not be moved" after that.
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. If they're honest with themselves (although I'm sure they won't be and will slag me off for this post) I think most fans of other clubs who slag them off and just jealous that their own club's support is nowhere near that good.
Not fishing with any of that either.'"
Brilliant post. At last somebody that appreciates how much effort certain Wigan fans have put into improving our support.
As for what other posters have said about your home support, your the same as us and most other clubs in every sport, poor at home, very loud away.

| I suspect that our support on Friday will be very good. Generally at away games you get all the die hards so that atmosphere is more contained.
Warrington wanted the home fans stood down the touchline for us to be able to shout forward at the referee. I dont think its worked, the atmosphere is all but dead.
Joining in with that bain Wigan noise on Sunday was horrible IMO, there was no way to get any of our own songs going because of all the stupid noise.
Lets set the atmosphere, not follow it.

| Depends where you stand, was lots of jumping over people where we were but its not everyones cup of tea.
Interesting to see what effect if any filling in the corners has, what it should do is contain the noise coming from the South, if the South is packed from the new Curva to pondlife with the right songs it should be alot louder plus going the other way the East will join in more with them being right next to the South from next season.
Nothing beats the Zoo though no wonder away fans no didn't like coming.

| I'm not sure about a chant, if someone doesn't make a mock 'hubcap' out of Tinfoil, I for one will be very disappointed.
Plenty of blown up nodders too, it's THAT time.

Tom Hark and other novelty PA sh*te has killed passionate try celebration right across rugby league. Instead of going nuts the majority of the crowd automatically start clapping along.

To be fair, most people (including Dropkick Murphy) have focused their smirks at the words like Ultras and Brigantes. It's massively gay*. I'm sure most sensible people would admit that the noise towards the end of Sunday's massacre was impressive. I think those same people would also admit that the noise before the game (even when the u20s game was on) was also good. However, I'm sure you would also admit that there was a 60 minute period in the middle where you were very quiet which is unsurprising considering what we were doing to your team (i.e. whatever we wanted).
Anything that improves the atmosphere at sporting arenas is good for me. Just don't expect to escape ridicule if you give yourself silly names, pin badges and scarves, that's all.
*as in rubbish.

| Can I ask the singing commitee to adopt the Wigan chant as the away song ? I know its a Zulu chant nicked from a football club in the Ukrain or wherever but it has some very positive points.
There are no complicated words, so easy to sing.
Its very catchy and a pleasantish mesmerising sound.
And it would really pees off the Pies. So Ill try and get it going at Hull and try and join in when you pick up the timing.
Erm we might need a drum !
The words as far as I can make out are, all together now !
Whooa whoa
whooa whoa
La li la lia lia laa la di dah !
So much better than the popular
La di da, la di da
La di da diddy da la di da !
And less repetitive than
Do di doo, doo di doo
Doody doody doody doody doo,
Even with the dance its a bit boring !

| I think we should do the imperial march instead of that ukraine rubbish.
As I have said previously, the chanting from wigan throughout the match (not including before, but including the last ten mins) was dire. It was silence and then when that floundered it was ten mins of that monotonous drivel.
The only plus I can think of is that there was no wigan walk. Which was pleasantly surprising.
I would wager that if a few on here (with a drum) decided to do the theme to miami vice or old McDonald people would join in and that'd be louder than the pies.
