So on reflection, was Englands unlucky draw against the (supposed) 14th best team in the world so bad?
France looked very poor against Uruguay.
Argentina may have looked great going forward, but I think their defence looked very suspect.
Germany looked good, but having been using this new ball in the Bunderliga since January they are at an advantage over the rest.
The Dutch look OK, but hardly convincing against the FIFA 36th ranked team.
Had we drawn against the 31st ranked team like Italy did the press would be demanding Capellos head already.
Could say the same had we only managed a 2-1 win against the 105th best team in the world as Brazil did.
The Portuguese couldn't even score against the 27th best team in the world.
Defeat to the Swiss, who are ranked 10 places lower than the USA must be very disappointing for the Spanish.
Could easily argue that, out of the genuine challengers and considering the opposition, only the Germans managed a better result than England (and they played a huge chunk of their game against 10 men).

I don't understand the commentators saying everyone bar Uruguay are following SA, i'll be glad when they're out and i hope there's never another one in Africa too
