Wigan won because of their great defence, but as a 'spectacle' I just hope it's not the way forward for other teams.

I was distinctly underwhelmed by the match. Glad I wasn't paying.

ok, the game wasn't a classic but semi finals can be tense and nervous for the teams taking part. There is a lot to gain and also lose in a semi. IMO getting the victory is the most important thing, if the game is a classic that's a bonus.

Lose a semi and the wembley dream is gone. The Wire have lost numerous over the years so we know what its like. Fortunately we have had the pleasure of the two wins.

Wigan seemed to have the edge over saints today, even with all the saints possession in the first half. Good comeback by saints but a little too late.

Is that the dreadful side that put 44 points past you a mere two weeks ago ?

I think he was making out you're boring and tedious to watch, not that you aren't effective... Like Vladimir Klitchko is very effective but is also boring to watch.

know what he meant but its a daft thing to say...we play fantastic rugby, maybe not as off the cuff as Warrington, but that doesnt make it boring. and we were'nt boring hammering your lot 2 weeks ago.

Knockout rugby isn't about looking flash, it's about grinding out the result. We're more than entertaining enough in the league, and tbh, a couple of our tries today were great team tries and a couple of bit of individual brilliance in there.

The first 20-30 minutes was crap because both teams were being tentative and didn't want to make the first big mistake.

Thing is I don't think the first 20 mins was crap. Saints had god knows how many repeat sets on our line and Wigan's defense had to be phenomenal to take that pressure. Some people just like to whinge that it's only exciting if points are being scored and completely fail to appreciate good defense like they appreciate good attack. They need to learn to enjoy Rugby League as a whole, not just the sparkly bits.

Our defence was fantastic. I just mean both sides were crap in attack, no-one took risks and everyone just drove the ball in.

tbf we didn't have any possession to take risks with, and Silverwood ruined any sort of continuity either team tried to build. But 20 mins of defending your own line with something like 75-25% possession to Saints is a massive achievement and should be one of the aspects of our sport we admire, rather than just the tries.

Seems like Norton has a rival, Wigan have the best online defence in the world. That's the impression the syooperb John Kear gave me anyway.

In all honesty, I watched 40 mins and put the Liverpool friendly on after the first half as it was absolutely mind numbing.

That first half was pedestrian - both sides were more afraid of losing than wanting to win. Second half improved but where was Saints famous offloading?
Just a note to little Sam - quit the acting. Excellent player but annoying little devil with his antics.
Can't see Leeds or Cas giving Wigan a hard time at Wembley.

End of the day we won we are through to the challenage cup final I could care less it you lot found it boring.

They've both given us hard times in the league this year, and it was Leeds who knocked us out last year.

No game of RL can possibly be as tedious as the average wendyball encounter - bad call. Wigan did what they needed to do to win: good tactics, good play.
