Yes he is.

He has one geat skill - backing up after a break has been made. Don't get me wrong, being in the right place at the right time is certainly a skill, but you need to have a wealth of talent around you - he didn't have that a Salford, but does at Warrington.
Never thought that Myler would be the half back that controls the match.

So we've got threads On Myler and Clarke, yet not one word on the player who was the worst player on the pitch by a country mile .... Ben Harrison .... I'm never one to have a go at the players but it just gets on my nerves a little bit when the usual suspects are always slated on here , yet a performance like that from Harrison can go unmentioned ... The lad was shocking .

Jury has been out for me since MM,same thing happened, i mean this in terms of controlling a game. Briers went off and Myler was unable to take the game by the scruff of the neck and control. As i have said in another thread, we need someone that can do this other than Briers.

I disagree mate, our pack wasnt pulverised at all. Our pack did pretty damn well, we were just clueless in their 20.

The bit where Westwood put a cross kick in is a prime example, he should NEVER have been at first receiver.

But we've never had the luxury in the past of spending approx £200k to address the problem, for that sort of money you would expect the problem to be cured.

Have to agree......watching TS interview post match though, he doesnt seem to think briers being missing was an issue, but then again he isnt going to say we were clueless without him!!!

And what were the opposition ? Huddersfield are far stronger this year, we certainly didn't beat Saints, Wigan or Leeds last year without Briers.

Myler is fine when your teams on top where you don't need a creative 7, when were on top its usually either Monaghan or Briers thats running the show which allows Myler to concentrate do what he does best which is his support play.

Exactly the same thing happened at MM, Briers went off injured and we had no idea. The game was crying out for myler to take control, never happened!! So not just once this year, and it will happen again im afraid.

In my opinion Richie is a support player ( and one of the best in the league ) in the mould of Shaun Edwards and I don't think he will ever control the game. I see him moving to stand off and us getting a quality scrum half to replace Briers.

Myler has developed a lot as a player, just because he's not leading the side around the pitch doesn't mean that he's a bad player. People seem to forget that he's only 20 years old and still developing now.

To be fair to Richie (who I think is a very good player for us and will in time become a great player for us) was playing behind a beaten pack.
Lee Briers could not have done much more on Friday we were beaten up front and had no platform to play off.

Can't take control behind a pack which continually drops the ball, misses tackles and gives away needless penalties. We were outplayed as we were in Cardiff. Neither loss could be blamed on a 20 year old.

As i stated in another thread, we were outplayed and out-enthused by Hudds, but questions do have to be asked about the mylers ability to organise the team going forward, take command. We had 7 different players kicking on the 5th tackle on friday, no idea what so ever, the game was creaming out for an organiser, Something that we lack when Briers is not playing.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying if Briers played we would of won, but i bet we would of had alot better structure when we got into try scoring postitions............

and your right, there were more than enough players out there that had stinkers, but this thread is about Myler...........

Exactly different Kettle of fish with regards to comparing Myler and Briers. If you are expecting Myler to step into the same role and playing style as Briers then you will have a long wait. It was more up to the hooker and other half to share this role and let Myler continue playing the way he normaly does. To me he's another Danny Maguire don't expect him to supply more be supplied more like.

Been said a thousand times but still people seem to look at Myler as a ball playing / running half back. He is not and never will be a Sean Long, a Lee Briers, a Sam Tompkins or a Kyle Eastmond.

He's a Danny McGuire style player - backing up, excellent positional play, average kicking game, very fast, and already a good reader of the game - They are his key skills.

We lost out again against Huddersfields because they were far more up for it than we were and nothing to do with Mylers involvement (or lack of).

Just been a couple of bad weeks at the office for us. Rather this now than in the playoffs again. Wigan in a similar rut, but they will still be top come October.

I'd look decent playing at your teams level. Next.....
