To be fair Rau had one game worthy of his signing. (Leeds home). Waterhouse has yet to achieve that. He was garbage today and to think he was rested so he could be at his best for this?

| The strange thing was, some of the players who were rested on Thursday looked the most slow and tired like Waterhouse and Morley.

| I don't normally watch on tv (no sports channels) ,but i watched today & some highlights from Thursday & TS seemed to be laying the law down at half time in both games & coupled with the huddle on Thursday it looks like he could be getting concerned.

| Well I think you've got to give Cats some credit. They won the battle in the ruck and our defence was somewhat leaky from early on.
Our forwards were 2nd best.
Looked as though it was going to be a bad day at the office from the kick off unfortunately and so it turned out.
Thought Higham gave his all and also Joel took the ball in well
Myler going off didn't help and Briers was obviously frustrated with many of the plays.
Moz tackled too high and whatever was tried simply didn't work. Cats looked secure in defence and the heat obviously affected us in the last 10 mins.
Going to be interesting to see how TS responds.

Morley looks a shadow of the player he was. Briers anonymous. A shocking day at the office and could have been 50+. Been coming a long while. 3 wins from 6 and that's including a scrape of a win against Wakefield at home. As I said in an earlier thread about 4 weeks ago and got derided. Something is not right at Warrington.'"
Every good thing comes to an end and ageing is part of life dont renew there contracts and move on simple! Were Widnes and were poop , yes we got kicked by catalans like yourselves what you have got is a great u20s squad from 1-13 that could step up to first team and wont let you down!and what agreat position your in beating wigan , saints, and battered widnes on saturday top of the tree , let me just say your clubs in great hands youth wise just give them a chance cause they have got age on there side

| I'm not one to poo-stir. As I've said before on the Myler thread (after the Stains game) we win as a team, we lose as a team.
However, the situation with Waterhouse is like going into Dr Who's TARDIS, back to 2008, and there we have Matt King.
Both come with big reputations, SoO and Test experience, and we've seen (on the whole) NOWT.
atm, Waterhouse looks like he can defend, BUT, his reputation as a ball handling, offloading beast is, well, plain wrong.
It's almost like going to buy a classic car, with a stunning advert, and finding out it's a Ford Focus. Yes it's reliable and reasonable at it's job, but it's not what was promised.
Mr Waterhouse needs to "pull his socks up".
Some great players who've not lived up to the billing, don't necessarily turn it round, a la King.
Come on Trent. Pull your finger out.

He's been a bit up and down but I'm sure that we'll all keep in perspective that he's played about 10 times for us and is still settling in. So proud that I don't follow a team where we forget that.

| If you look at him next to moz he is bigger, much bigger yet he runs like a girl..
See his attempt from dummy half by their try line? It looked like it was a slow motion replay

yes i said exactly the same thing, far too slow and doesnt carry the ball like he means it, just trundles it like he cant be d. Also thought Briers had a shocker but that may have been down to others not suppling him with the correct pass at the correct time

| all we need is someone to wind him up to the point of him making an offensive hand gesture followed by a public apology and then we've got 3 years of fantastic memories to be had
chavs: wind him up
trent: get your hand ready!

Love the optimism and hoping history repeats but King was a player blessed with an abundance of class on a bad run at the time but at least he showed promise. Waterhouse has shown none of that and was very poor today - and to think we rested him and made Westwood (who gave it everything today) toil it our against Widnes.

Early doors King showed next to nothing at all amd he was frankly awful in a lot of games. I'm not so much hoping history repeats itself (nice though that would be!) but making the point that it presumably takes time to move 9,000 miles away from home and settle into a new job, area and country. To the extent that people are writing the bloke off (and I accept that most, including you, are not) they should remember that. The fact he gets well paid is of no real consequence - it can still take time.

| Yes and Louis Anderson who people are now saying shouldn't have been replaced by Waterhouse, took a long time to settle himself, in 2008 he didn't offer much, it was second half of 2009 and 2010 when he started to come into form.
Credit to Hicks, Joel Monaghan and Brett Hodgson who were top class from the moment they got off the plane.

If that's the case then why is he first pick in the 2nd row?
I say it's because he's an Aussie and we can't possibly pay ££ for someone to come over and then not play him.
Why is it that when we sell an overseas player, we MUST buy another. We should save the cash and get someone British!

Why? Does their passport make them better players or something? Why does nationality even bother you?
FWIW, I said earlier on in this thread that he hasn't wowed me in attack. Maybe we should move him to front row and keep Grix at left second row? Either way, he's easily handled by the opposition in attack.

I don't know, I don't pick the team. I can only assume that Tony Smith thinks he's the best option to play there.
Speaking of Smith; he sanctioned the purchase of Myler for a 6 figure sum. He then dropped him, mercilessly, for the Challenge Cup final. If you think he would play Waterhouse purely on the basis of his nationality and salary then you're clueless. If he's as bad as you say he is (and he's not, clearly) then at worst he's playing him to give him the chance to settle in.

| Yesterday was Waterhouse's first bad game for me. He comes in for criticism because he is an easy target for it IMO (Big name in Australia who is expected to set the house on fire, always looks tired). His defence has been great so far, but yesterday he just seemed off the pace a bit, being left behind the PTB when he made a tackle, but it's one bad game.
Yesterday's game doesn't make him a bad player, even the best players have off days, this was his first.
