I mean Jason Clark as a prop??!! Hope to goodness Powell doesn't entertain the thought. I think that petition that went around Souths about Clark was not to retain him but quite the opposite. Aussies seeing us coming yet again.

ha ha ha yeah i agree with that, i don't think he does much at all. And all the comments of "He does all the hard work and unseen stuff"...........no he doesn't at all. I watch him all game and he doesn't do anything special or do the hard yards. Unless he is an emergency Prop filler he's pointless to keep other than to add numbers to the squad. I hope he does go home.

I've noticed him pressure kickers quite well but that's about it. For his steady Eddie reputation you'd at least expect him to be a tackling machine a la Gary Sanderson but his defence isn't brilliant either. Nice fella just an utter waste of cap space. Saints had the fortune of their dud Thompson deciding to go home, ours is about to extend his ruddy stay.

I agree that's why I'd be disappointed with a contract extension for Clark. I don't see where he would fit in! I wouldn't want him second row at all and not really at loose forward either. He's an honest professional but he's not worth the cap space. We need a prop. I'm concerned enough about next season squad without the injuries and not signing a suitable replacement for Hill.

The thought of Jason Clark playing in our first team worries me. The thought of Jason Clarke playing PROP in our first team TERRIFIES me. Say it ain’t so…

It's absolutely not what I would do, I just can't understand the thinking behind a contract extension at all. Was just surmising maybe the thought would be to play him front row and try to sign a prop next season? We would be better keeping the cap space free IMO, see what happens you never know who could become available unexpectedly.

I can see next season being called a transitional season, recruitment so far has been unfortunate with everyone (except Bullock) picking up serious looking injuries. We can't have spent all the cap space freed up so far and I would like to see clarks cap space spent on a more effective player personally, ideally a prop.

Kurt Sorensen, Les Boyd and Kevin Tamati were 3 of the bests props I ever saw play. I would give up a limb to watch them play for Wire instead of the signings we have made for prop over the last 12 months.
They were all about 5ft 7” to 5ft 8” and no more than 16st tops.

Imagine these 3 taking to the field..what fun we'd have..gladly buy a seaso ticket to watch players like that

I remember being stood in the the Time Square, and thinking "wow, Boyd's a midget"..... certainly didn't play like one. Proof alone that you don't need to be 6'4" and built like a proverbial one to be a prop. Let's not forget either, when Boyd toured with the 82 Invincibles, he was a second rower. People want them to be fast running 6"2' athletes.....he wasn't that, either.

No substitute for class.

Boyd could negate lack of true size by being squat, fearless and intimidating as well as taking the ball in like a freight train and possessing quick feet, hands and brains. How does Jason Clark make up for his lack of size? He's got none of the above.

Luke Yates is a prime example of not having to be a big dude to hit like a truck......unfortunately Clark is well below Yates level. Squad filler at best.

We don't need Jason Clark IMO, it's a waste of salary cap. We have signed Holmes so have a back row of

Philbin plays 13 as an option as well (I'd rather he didn't really we don't have enough props as it is).

We don't need expensive bench cover when longstaff can do a better job for less on the cap.

Put his wage towards a prop please, I would be really disappointed if he is re signed, nothing personal but he's not what we need.

13 is a prop these days, just one that's usually a little more mobile. I'd be very surprised if we didn't see Clark rotating at 13 with Hughes next year. I'd much rather us use the cap space + Clark to bring in a good prop, but its looking unlikely now. Jack Hughes is another I'd be struggling to see a spot for by the end of 2022.

I'd rather we moved away from this now Price has gone, I don't necessarily think 13 is another prop these days either, I don't see Morgan Knowles as a mobile prop to be honest and he's probably the best around at the minute.
