| Good luck to the lad. Itll be interesting to see whether or not hes got the skill set to operate around their contested scrums and rucks.

| Just been linked along with Richie Myler might be a complete rumour. Patton could learn alot off Widdop so he might stay for another year?

| For me Patton needs to leave the club to have any chance of progessing. For me, and ive said it so much on here. He isnt good enough for the required level we aspire to be at, i.e winning the championship!! I wanted him to be the homegrown superstar, like everyone else. But it aint happening im afraid. If he goes, good luck to the lad......

Completely agree with Longbarn Wire on this, it’s time to move on for him. He’s unlikely to play at all or be a bit part player in his preferred position for the next 2/3 years. I’d rather give Riley Dean the opportunity to fill in if Widdop/Austin isn’t fit at any point next year. Also, Ratchford & Livett can cover if needed at half back.

| +4 ...he is a solid kicker of the ball and can tackle.... perfect union player really.
he would get a nice pay rise as well i imagine.
wouldn't blame him for looking to move on... just not quite good enough.

| Yeah, think everyone wanted Dec to make it, reckon he would be a good squad player but that equally would restrict opportunities for Riley Dean as others have said. Wish him the best if he is to go, thought he was good @ Wembley, but he needs to be playing first choice at his stage.

It might not have worked out as planned but that's bit disrespectful IMO.
We've had plenty worse some have come with reputations and for decent money. I think we all including Patton may have hoped for something better at least he didn't act the goat and if he leaves then good luck to him as far as I'm concerned.

Agree, if he leaves then I hope he goes on to have a good career in rugby, whether that be league or union. I've wanted him to do well for us and in spells he has, I'd take him as cover next year but salary cap may not allow for that. I don't know what Dec earns but if we need cap space for a new prop then Riley Dean will do as cover for me. He needs game time for sure, I hope the reserve grade really helps Dean and thewlis. They're the sort of lads who will benefit the most.

| Maybe this is the big deal that Martin Offiah has lined up for him.
Stephen Myler went to RU and had a fine career, he ended up getting an England RU cap.

| Maybe just maybe Price has finally accepted he isn’t the answer and let’s be honest he’s not going to leave a big gaping hole in the side but either way good luck to him.

| Could be another eloborate plan to re-sign him from RU on megabucks in a couple of years with the RU salary cap exemption.
In all seriousness it is a shame as I am a believer that a successful team needs a stable 1,6,7 & 9 for a few years.
We have stumbled around with full back with with the Russell experiment until Ratchford has settled there. 9 is sorted but the halves have been a bit of a car crash with Sandow, Gidley, Brown, Smith in the last few years. I was hoping that Patton might develop his combinations on that left edge with Currie, Goodwin and Lineham whist he had the opportunity.
If he does leave then I don't think anybody could say that he wasn't given a proper chance.

| I have a natural antipathy to slagging developing players off. I know in my own job I have made some absolute howlers when younger, and it takes time and patience to develop the skills required. The difference is our players make their mistakes in front of lots of people, there is a huge weight of expectation on some more than others, and it must weigh heavily.
Compare and contrast Patton and Philbin.
When starting a prop gets a few minutes here and there, nothing much is required other than don’t drop the ball and don’t miss a tackle. They can be nurtured and allowed to develop.
I’m not for one minute saying Patton is a world beater but a little compassion from the fans of the team he plays for wouldn’t go amiss.

| The lad did it on the biggest stage against all the knockers....and without Austin.
Pound for lb Austin has been a right flop...yes I know he's class but his on field contribution has been about 20% of what I thought we might get, and has rnear zero social media criticism.
I proud of Patton and I can't wait till he rubs your noses in it as
He will be the most successful Warrington half in living memory if not ever.
Has Patton earned a contract reward?....well he deservesthe freedom of our town when we win the GF....
Do I want him at half back in 2020....the hell I don't, we've got Widdop!!

| Playing well in 5 games (being generous) out of 100 does not prove anyone wrong - even if one of those games was a cup final. A cup final, in which he also invited an unlikely Saints comeback by smashing the ball full into touch when he had a WHOLE Wembley pitch in front of him to aim for.
Good luck to him, hope he does well but Duck just accept he simply isn't good enough as a starting half in the upper echelons of SL. 95% of his performances prove that to be correct. I should imagine there is only you and other members of his family that will be sorry to see him leave from a rugby perspective. Saying that - Matty Smith has made him look MUCH better.

You mean when Patton was rushed down under pressure on the last to try and clear from out from well inside our 30 after all the forwards had been unable to do so, failing to give him some depth to clear away from the charging defence ...but that's all Patton's fault.
Have a word with yourself Ratty. You see what you want to see.

You want a word with everyone that has a different view to you, and wish to make what you believe in to be a one person person crusade. People have different opinions, that's the way it is, just let it be as it doesn't change anything that's happened, or will happen.

| A starting half back for a whole season amassed 2pts in the season long Guardian voting. Seems some people see what I also see.
