Where does this leave us with the quota now?

An awful, awful signing.

This is right down there with re-signing Blythe last year.

I'm astounded, especially if it does take a quota spot.

I would assume:
Quota: Roberts, Goodwin, Brown
Non Fed: BMM, Sita

By my reckoning if we wanted to we could bring in 2 more Quota or NonFed players - unless I've missed someone?

Mitch's problem last season was our use of him as a utility back. He was given the No 1 shirt but, due to our lack of centres, he spent a lot of time in the threequarters. At centre, his lack of pace was exposed, as opponents occasionally passed him on the outside. When he moved to full back, his strength lay in fielding the kicks and running them back strongly. He had one nightmare at full back, in the 'middle 8's',when he couldn't catch anything and was then moved to wing for the remainder of the season. On the wing, he again proved reliable in defence and scored a few tries.

He was probably partly responsible for Bryson Goodwin signing for Leigh, as he was his best man. Ironically, he now follows Bryson to Warrington!

I would say you have got a solid, reliable player in Brown, but don't expect outstanding pace. However, Steve Price has coached him, at Cronulla, so should know what he is capable of.

I haven't seen him, don't know much about him but welcome aboard I guess. We need cover and hopefully he means that Russel will be cover.

He's scored 6 tries all season. In no way whatsoever does he know where the try line is. For a winger that's woeful. Lineham has scored 19 this season with only 2 assists from his centre Atkins, Yet Lineham is hounded by a certain number of people on here. Imagine how many Lineham would score if he had Hiku outside him all season.

Russell has also bombed double that amount by not having the nowse to dive in or step inside. He's awful. Then there's the amount of ties he's let in by failing to deal with a kick.

However, he has a good scoot so that's alright...

And in 2016 when we weren't crap, he was outscored in our own team by:

Two other wingers, who each played fewer games than him, two forwards (second row + loose) and a scrum half.

He was also tied with our hooker.

These are not the stats of a player who knows where the line is.

He's a decent enough player in a number of aspects, but his try scoring record isn't good enough to play a position that primarily requires you to score tries.

Russell bagged a hatrick for Scotland around that period too I think.

A good summing up there. Reliability, yes - wow factor, no.

Whats that got to do with the price of fish?

Well it can affect wether it's that or a bridie to go with my tatties.

I am not quite sure Matty Russell knew what his best position was. For me, he wasn't a winger, he dropped too many bombs, his positional play was questionabl and at times his defence was woeful. What i do know is that his face fitted and so got lots of game time. I think Steve Price from what I read, wants to get away from the 5 drives and a kick routine. He also wants blokes who are prepared to defend the line at all costs. I think Matty will be 3rd of 4th choice next season. And for those that said the signing of Mitch Brown was akin to the Matty Blythe signing: give your heads a wobble. The bloke has over 130 appearances in the NRL. He maybe 30 but I am sure the fella can do a job, both in attack and defence.
