| [del[/delWhilst I'm disappointed to have lost in the GF again, I can't help but be positive. Getting there 2 years in a row and being disappointed just shows how much we have progressed as a club.
One thing that this years grand final showed me is that we need some fresh players at the club in order to develop further. Whilst Morley, Carvell, Hodgson etc have been legends and great signings for us, I think now the time is right for them to go.
A priority for me is a class full back - this should be our 'marquee' signing to signal our intentions
and a winger - Teams this year have exposed our weakness on Riley's side defensively and this needs sorting!
Half back - To play alongside Myler long-term
And some pace in the side - which we severely lack
England is a unit and Asotasi will bring experience to the side
Thoughts anyone?

| Versatile backs. Don't think we need a dedicated full back, winger, or centre, but someone that can play all of them. Two of our best players this year were Grix and Ratchford, partly because they're top players, partly because they can play in so many positions their value increases even more.

id have Bridge in at 6 so long we can be sure those legs are right.
Then seek out a right centre with a style in the likes of an Allan Bateman or a pre substance linked Gleeson.

| Ratch will be first choice full back - as he deserves to be so don't think we will strengthen this position specifically. Prop seems to be lacking in quality in compared to last season, but with England coming in we have our four frontline props, with Riley due a shot at first team himself. We can't keep loading quality from above, we need to give these younger guys a shot at SL level.
Backrow seems well covered with Westwood, House, Grix & Harrison (fully fit). We also have Currie to find extra gametime for next season.
We have just given Atkins a new contract so he is a cert to line up in the threequarters. I'm hopeful Bridge can regain his form with a full pre season and hopefully a clean run injury free next season - if he doesn't I think his place in the 2015 squad would be in question.
Half back is well covered with Myler and Briers and GOB as back up, the time to bring in a player here will be 2015 with Briers' assumed retirement.
I agree it would seem we have room on the cap with Morley, Carvell, Cooper, Hodgson, Tyke and Williams leaving and only Asotasi, England & Penny coming back in. BJB would be a good signing for me, a good wingman with the potential to fill in at fullback if Ratch is injured, or needed to cover elsewhere.

I'd agree with this. Riley is our weak link and has been exposed time and time again defensively and this needs to be addressed. Personally, I'd like to see Evans given a shot at making that position his own, and I think we'll be there or thereabouts again next season.

| Some of the passes that Bridge puts out to Joel are sublime & it looked like he was lining up an inside pass when he was bundled into touch. Unfortunately ,Joel hadn't read the script or we may have scored again. In my book though, Bridge knocks Gleeson into a cocked hat .

Riley is far from being a great player and has made countless mistakes this year that has cost us points - semi-final defeat to name but one. He should have scored but dropped the ball under the pressure of a tackle (a GREAT PLAYER would have scored) and he went to sleep and allowed Richard Whiting to score that gave them a 10-8 half time lead that we never recovered from.
BTW - I'll knock who I like if I have an opinion - after all, that's what free speech is all about!

| I think dropping the ball with or without the aid of being tackled is a particular talent that runs through most of the team especially during one of our "don't respect possession" weeks ! I think one of the main turning points in the CC semi was the penalty against Bridge for moving off the mark ,which was something Silverwood seemed to ignore for the other 79 minutes.

I'm sure Riley's family are on wire-wire's dedicated forum presently, slandering him...
#twang
Ironymeter has just broken with you of all people pulling somebody up for having an opinion. Any Warrington player is fair game for criticism if their performances haven't been up to scratch. That you defend Riley blindly is simply another indication that you're not watching the same games as the rest of us.

agreed. but a 1 or perhaps 2 mistakes that every player on the team makes in a game doesn't mean that suddenly there who form is off!
I'm fine with riley, if we find somebody better then that's fantastic. But he's a wire always gives 100%

He's had a poor season imo (and that's all it is, my opinion). He's capable of so much more but in key games he's gone missing. The play off semi vs Hudds also featured some shocking positional play that a truly top class winger wouldn't have made. If there's one thing Smith has shown is he isn't sentimental, and that's the case for Warrington lads. I don't think he'll let him go, but I do think that Penny's return to the club has come at just the right time, he'll be breathing down the ginger's neck. All good. Riley needs to up his game next year. He's lost a yard of pace for me by bulking up - he's lost the zip he had. I'm all for Riley in the team if he plays to 100%, but for the most part this season he appears to have been around 80% (not helped by Atkins' dubious form).

| I keep reading we should sign some more players. Who are these players?
Huddersfield have just signed Jodie Broughton. Should we have signed him? Leeds have signed Tom Briscoe. Should we have signed him? Both are wingers.
Wigan have signed Matt Bowen. Is that the marquee signing we should have gone for?
I wish we could replace Riley with Ryan Hall, Bridge with Kallum Watkins, Paul Wood with James Graham but wishing is one thing, the players being available or fittable under the salary cap are different things.
I still think we have the best squad in the league with Huddersfield just behind us. Funnily enough the league positions are not far off in my view as I'd say Leeds are next then Wigan (yeah I know they won the double), then St Helens etc etc.

| Much rather watch Rhys Evans weekly instead of bridge...don't think Riley is good enough for where we Want to be going, big questions is, would Riley get a regular wing spot for any other top 6 team? The answer is no, need to spend on a winger and some more props

I would have also like to see us in for Kyle Amor too as well.
