Not really in the case of Grix. Has been outstanding all season. The others won't.
Bit harsh also the criticism on the other thread of Williams and Evans. Neither was given a single pass into space last night. Williams did score a try and Evans would have if the London defense hadn't tried to take his head off in the act of scoring. He did well to get up and carry on after that.

Watch back some hilarious sub U8s tackle attempts by Williams and think again.
And Evans wasn't involved he should come in and look for work.

| Williams looks out of his depth, doesn't fully commit and tries when he can be bothered, not a scapegoat seeing as most of the tries came down the middle but simply Cas material, cheers for memory Rhys don't forget to send us a Christmas card with a Wakefield stamp on it every year.

| Wind back two years ago and Williams was supposed to have had everything that Kevin Penny didnt. Quite clearly not the case.
Williams is a truly awful player he makes Henry faafilli look like a 21 year old Beaver Menzies

Which is why I don't buy the hype that people make about how great our young players are and how bright the future is, before they have had a good run in the team. Most young lads even if they are good in the academy, get found out in Super League. Guys like Paul Wood and Chris Riley didn't have that much hype around them when they emerged but they were the ones that could deal with the step up.
I don't understand your analogy about Fa'afili and a 21 year old Menzies....Menzies wasn't a winger and Fa'afili was a pretty successful player anyway.

I disagree...
Williams has no speed, no enthusiasm, no wish to get stuck in, and no ambition to succeed despite having faults.
Penny had none of these things (I still wonder "WHAT IF"he had been given longer under Smith how things would have gone.)

| Was dissapointed Evans didn't score, he hesitated for some reason before diving for the line would have made the score 30-24 possibly but doubt it would have changed much.

He would have never got much of a game in our first team. I can't see who out of Hicks, Riley, King or Joel Monaghan that Penny would have displaced. Smith got rid because he knew he was not good enough, if he had have been he would have signed for Wigan or Saints and would be showing us what we are missing.

| I don't even see the point in discussing Williams, he has virtually gone as he has no contract for next year. It's a pity, because he is certainly fast, but he just never kicked on from the U20 's.
I was more concerned with the form of Evans. He has had a lot of injury time, but when he has played he has failed to shine. I don't believe he is a natural winger, but rather a centre. Let's hope he gets a decent run of games to get some form back.
Next year, quite a few of our 'U20's will have to kick on if they are to make it in SL. They are lucky that we have a group of 30somethings whose shoes they can fill, so they have every incentive. I don't hold the same views as you Sally, but certainly quite a few will fall by the wayside and move on. It is very difficult though to judge who will succeed / fail as they all progress at different rates.

| I suppose we have to have a scapegoat - and Williams has become it.
I cannot accept that any player in SL - especially one trying to secure their future - ''doesn't look interested''.
Solo is still trying to get back to fitness
It was the first match back for Bridge. Injuries have hampered this season for him.
Agreed that Evans is not a winger, but a centre yes. He's coming back from injury. TS is bringing him on and he doesn't go from a good player to a bad one overnight.
I think Cooper seems a little lightweight as a prop but you can't fault his effort and at the moment as a squad player he's fine.
Many players had a poor game. It's a blip and TS has to answer for some of that.

As I've said before, they pull on a Wire shirt, they'll get my support.
(I've said this before, too) Cooper needs a BIG season, next year, or he'll be the next Pickersgill. Lots of potential, just not capable of reaching 'the next level'.
We all know that Cooper can play (CCSemi 09 v Wigan), he just doesn't do it on a regular enough basis.
Kick on, lad. You don't want to be cast aside.

lazyness...Sal lazyness... Beaver Menzies earned the nickname Beaver because of his workrate on the field of play,
Williams is astonishingly lazy for a young player, as was Faafilli(for an older international) so I made the comparison that Lazy Williams would Make Lazy Faafilli look more like the beavering workhorse Menzies.......... it clearly missed...

Definitely has the ability but his mistakes are normally due to a lack of concentration. It is in his own hands.

sorry for grix, coops etc but reasoning for them 2 is if things don't go there way they have a habit of getting impatient grix trying to rip the ball out in the tackle or throwing silly passes. and coops has the odd high shot.
i think discipline will be the key

I stuck up for him at the game. Carrying the ball away from our line he's brilliant, consistent 10m minimum. I can't put my finger on what his problem is but I'm finding it harder to defend him each time he plays.
Against us, he had a blinder for Cas. According to their fans he's been outstanding. I just don't understand why we don't see this in the P&B? Is it because of the lack of consistent game time or is he just not "top of the league side" quality? At the moment I'm with the former but he's probably got 1 more game to impress this year otherwise he's out the door.

Grix for Tyke for me. Simon's versatility and good form (apart from Friday) makes him the better choice. After missing out in 09 and 10 he deserves his place imo.

i do feel sorry for him but it is not time for sentiment
tyke has been outstanding this year and so has grix (when we have been winning) unfortunately he does lack the patience i have seen for the last year and then some it has always been there that if things don't go our way then he tries to force the issue too much.
my opinion but i would prefer to see tyke in their he has bust a gut to get regular first team place this year and i find it hard to say sorry son but no.

| Grix is suffering from Grix Syndrome: one poor game/injury and people retrospectively invent some weird backstory in which he has been inconsistent/poor all season.
For me Grix v McCarthy is a toss-up between two players who've been excellent all season. Simon didn't cover himself in glory on Friday but not many did. I'm sure Tony will make the call based on what's he looking for, who he thinks will do a job and their relative fitness, rather than jerk his knee because Grix gave a shocking pass out on Friday night.
