I was over the moon when we signed Mann and Mercer.I think they had just toured with the Kiwi's. I can't ever remember seeing a hooker kick a ball from dummy half until he came along. I remember the day when mercer got moved into the pack which was a bold move back then but he made a good second rower. I know Nikau went through a lot but when he was playing for us I was not his biggest fan.

Has to be Nikau for me. However watching Fa'afili playing for Leeds Tykes the other day I couldn't help but miss his amazing dancing side steps!

Gary Mercer for me but a tough decision with the likes of Tamati, Ropati, Toa, Nikau and Mann (plus others) playing for us

Kidwell was shat when he was here

Overall he was but he did show some brief good moments. Highlight being when we beat Wigan at Wilderspool (I think it was the last time we ever beat them there) and Kidwell turned into Mal Meninga for about 15 minutes when we got 3 or 4 consecutive tries without them having the ball and turned a Wigan lead into a Wire win.

I reckon you can draw parallels between Kidwell's Wire career and the early part of Matt King's Wire career. First season - slow start, then good midsummer, then tailed off back end of the year. Jury was out on him and high expectations for second season, when he had another bad start. The difference was, Kidwell left at that point....King turned it round at that point. But I reckon if King had left around the time of the Harlequins incident he'd have been remembered in the same terms as Kidwell.
