Should Chase, Reed and Heighington sing the National Anthem?

I think Rangi Chase should do a haka before kick off.

I thought that is was appalling that not one of England players sang a word. Embarrassing...

I'm not surprised, not everyone knows how to speak Maori.

I'm not surprised that no-one sung it. There was no music to sing it to! What do expect, a 17 part acapella conducted my Mcbanana.

Why not, her Majesty's full title is "Queen Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God Queen of this Realm and of Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith" so she's their Queen as well.

The national anthems are crap when nobody bothers to sing, can you imagine a USA or Russia team in any sport stood there silent when their national anthem plays? I would have sung along to both anthems if I was playing tonight, everyone knows the "ooh ahh Cantona" bit of the Millaise even if they don't know the verse.

Oddly I know more of the words to the Millaise than I do GSTQ. It helps that the frog one has a better tune...and lyrics...and sentiment... Thinking about it they did us a favour and played the only anthem worth hearing tonight.

I actually love the wording, feel and sentiment behind both the Australian and NZ national anthems. They're the two best, worldwide, for me.

I always find myself belting out "Advance Australia Fare"!!! quite catchy when you are full of Ale..

The English national anthem is the worse I have heard.

It's a slow,monotonous dirge and is an embarrasment to the country in my opinion.

About time it was changed for something celebrating the country itself.

Now the Stone Roses are back together how about adopt this

Agreed, what we need is "Flower of Scotland's" English equivalent. A song that has a bit of tempo and reminds everyone of what we do to foreign invaders - i.e. stick them in a council house and pay all their bills!

No, seriously we do need a change - but lets leave it until the present Queen retires or whatever.

I really like GSTQ - it's got a rallying cry quality to it and builds up nicely to a crescendo with send her victorious, happy and glorious etc.

Looking forward to belting it out at Wembley.

I think whether you like GSTQ depends on whether you are a royalist or a republican.

I've nothing for or against the monarchy, but, as far as I'm concerned, it's our national anthem, and I've 'belted it out' on many an occasion (Wembley, for the last 2 years), and felt quite proud.

When the Queen dies, I think there maybe a call for change. Wether there is one or not, who knows.

One thing's for sure, JERUSALEM needs to be used more, for English stuff, rather than GSTQ

I'd say its more to do with whether you're living in the 21st or the 19th century.

Wether your a republican or a loyalist you got to be honest God Save the Queen is the worst national anthem. National Anthem should be about the country you live in not about a privliged individual that is supposedly to rule over a nation.

Lefty goldblatt i think is correct Jerusalem needs to be used more if not become the national anthem. After all people need to be preoud of the country they represent not sing the praises of 1 individual.

Ireland's call and flower of scotland are both goosebumps raisers for me. I'd happily go with Jerusalem as our national anthem though.

Flower of Scotland is a bit embarrassing though, its about Scotlands only ever victory over England and they are still singing about it now. They are like those sad act City fans that bang on about 5-1 in 1989.

I almost agree; its just that the lyrics probably need something of an update, for example:
