| Just following on from a post in tonights Wigan game thread. Someone said that Currie is 'shot'. I must say, as an attacking force, i fear he may never get back to that level? Our twitter page rolled some tries scored at the DW over the years, and theres one from Currie where his turn of pace couldnt be further away from where it is now......
I suppose the question is, if you agree, when does Price get to the point where he makes the change? Or do we persevere and give him more time?

| What more can he do in the positions he was put in?
He started a few breaks on the left with good hands
He defended strongly and doesnt really miss tackles.
Hes gone from having sandow next to him creating space and opportunities to having nothing now, everyones goes right or he gets in passed to him with 3 defenders in front of him.
I agree hes still missing a bit of his confidence but they're asking him.to work miracles in some positions

| Would it not be better to loan him out and try to get his confidence back up rather than just dropping him? Send him somewhere where he'll have more space to run and make a few breaks. Like a strong Championship side? I half watched most of your game as I cooked my tea and did other stuff and I didn't even notice he was playing.
Still, he's in a better place than George Burgess.

I was waiting for that after half way of 2019. He did well coming through the season without injury. However, theres only so much grace you can give. I want him to return to the player he was 2/3 years ago, however this type of injury never ends well in my opinion.
Very happy to be proved wrong though......

| The way we play, with players running laterally means the edges get squeezed and we end up with 2 or 3 players in very limited space. There is a reason our wingers weren’t scoring last season, this affects the second row as well as centres and wingers.

| I would guess there is not one poster here that wishes BC ill, but there must be a line drawn somewhere to assess the path forward with him. Last nights game is not the place to start the will he or wont he make it, given that Mr. Ill-Discipline struck again and left his team in a position where the whole game plan had to change. Easter time is my personal time for making assessments. Lest hope Ben gets his mojo backicon_smile.gif

Sadly I have to agree with you.
Unless there ia a major improvement towards the force he was pre-injuries x 2, he shouldn`t be offered a new contract by Wire.

| Question for the posters on here from the 80s:
Is this similar to what happened to Ronnie Duane after he bust his knee on a GB tour? How long after that did you realise he was never going to be the same player again?

See Mark Roberts. Young 2nd rower with the world at his feet....as fast as any centre....good hands, brilliant timing. Ruined by injury.
Ronnie Duane was similar, but not as quick as Roberts.

Now you’ve gone and done it, you’ve mentioned MR. Lefty will be on his speed dial to his therapist (what a loss he was though).

| Can’t Romberg precise details but didn’t it happen to John Dalgreen, a flying hooker (who had been a winger). I may have misremembered or even made this up, it’s an age thing.

I had to Google that one.
Romberg... a test of the sense of positioning of the spinal column.
That makes sense even if it was a typo.

Indeed, Captain.
Sadly, my therapist has ceased all contact with me, regarding MR.
He said I'm a hopeless case, and I'm better keeping my money in my pocket, in future.
Such a shame, re MR. My one problem with Brian Johnson (RIP), was his rushing back of Roberts for an A-team game, when he hobbled onto the pitch. Career finished (practically) that Friday night.
With Sally's mention of Ronnie Duane. Another one that (partially) got away. When he came back as a centre, he was never the same. We reinvented him as a second rower, where he adapted well (see Paul Cullen, a few years later). Iirc, he moved to Bradford (as a second rower) and did well, there.
Re Currie, there's nowhere else for him to go, other than a ball playing loose (out of fashion, now). He hasn't got the dynamism of a second rower, anymore.
As I said before, he needs to be told that he's no longer guaranteed a spot. Reputation and slack cutting will only go so far. When we start with Widdop, maybe he may find some more space for Currie (like Sandow did).
Fingers crossed.

Now you've reawoken miaw's Holden infatuation.
Grown blokes shouldn't have their mancrushes brought back to mind.
Holden was great, though

| Oh cruel mistress of the ligaments, and a thousand curses on the Swinton groundsman who allowed that pothole that scuppered Keith.
As lefty said, Ronnie D, Mark.Roberts and.I think Mike Greg also went the same way and the wire world was a sadder place for it.
Of course, treatment of all injuries and recovery has improved vastly since then. In Ben C's case he doesn't look to me like he is concerned about the injury but certainly the spark isn't there currently. Currie may have lost a yard of pace but his speed of thought and hands was always as much a factor as his speed of foot, and I'm sure that's atill there.
I'm hoping anyway. But mention of Holden, Mike Greg and Currie combined with a saints procession offers but one solace : time to uncork the Harvey's.
