| well you not mentioned Gidley there, Ratchford will go to fullback, so it seem 4 into 2 now although 1 person on the match thread said he did not know Patton was playing.

Did Evans pick up a knock at the end of his charge maybe a space at centre? Gidley played well at FB tonight and who knows what effect the international will have on the other contenders, I would have no qualms sticking with Patton/Livett

At the 20 minute mark I said to my mate is Patton playing (it was a genuine question) to which my mate said "don't know I've not seen him"

| Patton was nowhere until Morgan Smith came on. Was it Morgan Smith coming on or Dwyer going off that changed the game.

| Morgan Smith was keeping Dwyer out of the team until his injury last season. It's only time and he'll be the bench replacement for Clark.
Dwyer's mistake last season was to get cheeky over money and upset TS. Dwyer's form was patchy too. Morgan was biting at the bit looks to be as good as last season, and Tony has a long memory.
Was it Wigan Dwyer was wanting to go? I won't stand in his way.

| Patton still had 2 try assists last night, when he was off kicking duties with a leg strapped up. He does need to learn how to impose himself on a game but he will only pick that up with game time. I want to see him wanting to be on the ball more, he is a talent. Livett looked great last night some of his pick ups were brilliant, especially for his try, good to see the errors never put him off his game. If Patton is injured I'd perhaps rest him next week and put ratchford in the team (he has to play if fit at FB or halves. Morgan Smith just did everything simple from dummy half and we looked better for it, I enjoy a good scoot from Clark but it doesn't really allow half backs to get involved and running support lines is difficult when you don't know where the attack will end up.
Please Tony don't put brown back in to this team.

| It was a great win, but lets not kids ourselves too much - we scored 3 quick tries that had nothing to do with half backs - two were directly off the back of Saints mistakes, and one was down to a great offload by Russell. Had those mistakes not happened, we would still of been 14-12 down. They did happen, and suddenly we're 16 points ahead.
Patton, Livett, Gidley, Ratchford - I don't care - the one clear thing is though - Brown should NOT get back in that team!! He will, but he shouldn't!!!
Someone tell me (because I can't be bothered): what is the win - lose ratio with and without Brown "starting" the game?? Have we won a game with him in the starting line up yet??

Maybe so, but our first try [iwas [/ifrom a clever short pass by Patton, and Gidley had effectively stepped into the half-back space for his equally good pass to Cooper.

| Very pleased for Morgan. He had a stinker against Saints in the semi last year and was hauled off. He came back this time and was sensational. Hats off to him.

| With our forwards in better shape, I have no issue with Brown at hb. Our pack has been poor and made everyone look pants. You can't make a silk purse from a sows ear.

Kevin Brown has 8 starts with 1 win only (against Wakefield)

| Sounds like Brown had a pretty good game for England, with a couple of assists.
Maybe someone who watched can fill us in, but a fit and in form Brown would still make my 17 particularly in view of the confidence that visibly surged through the team last night, and the way the forwards imposed themselves.
Incidentally, I agree with the general view that Smiths introduction changed the game. Dwyer now third choice hooker, fourth if you count Gidley.

| Brown had a decent game for England. He was heavily involved in three tries. He's a very good passer of the ball. I think we are being over critical (as we often are on this forum about our own players). He's been out injured and most of the team have been playing badly. He'll play for us next week.

"Patton was poor again", 2 try assists and a few kicks that were spilled in their 10m zone. he put 3 kicks deep into the corner or over the touchline to control the game in the last 10mins. What has a player got to do get some praise. I am sure that people don't actually watch these games.
