| I am amazed this has got no mention. The atmosphere last night was probably the best of the year, and I thought if any player can't get up for this game then why do you play?
I was wrong yet again Mr A looked disinterested and I'm sure he may even have made negative yardage, he was dominated every time and when we really needed him after the injuries again he went missing. Anthony England gets criticised but for mr he never shirks his work and has improved this year. It surprises me that Tony Smith seems to be letting Roy to get on with it, I was under the impression he worked with every player individually and I am sure that's regular reviews, I've seen no improvement this year and I am unsure how he can look himself in the mirror! Last night was a great game and twitter was full of praise from all sources. I was disappointed we gave away the lead however as a year in progress we have reached CC Semi and are competing at the business end of the season. Sims and Clarke will add some aggression and speed. You never know it could still be our year!

| Are you sue you watched the same Big Roy?
Although I don't think he put too many passes in, he did run the ball up hard and it took 4 defenders at least to stop him.
He tackled as well as anyone during his spells too.
He was reminiscent of a Danny Lima last night.
He ran a decoy prop a couple of time and on one off the last play Monas made the daft mistake when Roy was about to be dummy runner of passing too him. Roy wasn't expecting it and took it flat.
Mobs made some poor passing calls but was defensively good.
As for Anthony England, he has heart but that's his credit on last night for me. That game was much too intense for him. Too many costly errors and one that completely swung the game with the daftest knock this season.
Within 10 of our own line and from that point we just couldn't reverse the territorial advantage.
That knock on was the pinnacle of loosing the game.
He just ain't fit enough at top SL level.
Big Roy has his critics and very justified this season but not v Bradford CC not v Saints but not at least last night. Give credit where due.

| He didn't have a stormer but it was by no means his worst game for us, and there were far worse performaces out there last night. But I guess unless he's breaking five tackles and making 30 metres every drive then he's just not good enough. I've not hidden my disappointment with Roy so far this year but you're talking out arris here.
Oh and RD, putting 'tackled well' and 'reminiscent of Danny Lima' next to each other? I've never seen a bigger juxtaposition. Laziest I've ever seen defensively.

Fair point GHF, I was thinking about his driving the ball up at the time and not defence wise.

| I've had my fill now of him. I've given him all year and he is frankly dire. I can't believe he ever captained NZ. Never has a man shirked hard work as much as he does for a front row forward.
I'll say this again too.. Anthony England and Paul Wood are WELL below the standard for any top 4 side.

| Roy was crap last night, at one point, he was running backwards better than he did forwards, adn then got drove back 15 metres,
Ineffective is a polite way to describe his performance. Following the injury to harrison and woody looking way off the pace, it was calling for a big effort off the bench and he only came on late, he had at least 30-35 minutes sat down, he could have come on and bloody skittled people, but no.
Compare that with Moz and that game against wigan with his knackered eye

| When you compare any prop to moz they need to be special. Perhaps I seen it wrong. He looked a handful to me and drawn in 4 or 5 defenders with his drives.
Perhaps the occasion got to much for me and I didn't see the bigger picture.

| Have to agree with the comments raised on both Aso'lazy' and Paul Wood.
You have to ask yourself the question, would this pair get into the Stains or Pies line-ups?!

| Thought Roy went ok last night. The one thing I'll give England is he is enthusiastic. At least he's putting the 100% in, and I think critics are being overly harsh. Wood on the other hand looks completely useless.

Spot on.Think Woody needs to go + England should step up to the plate when he get chances which he doesn't seem to be doing + think i've said enough on Asotasi in previous threads so no point in wasting any more internet space on him.

| Apologies for going off thread a bit, as I didn't want to start a new thread just about him, but one guy who was seemingly talked about last season much more than this season is the other Ben who we really need now to step up and play, Ben Currie. I know he is still young but focussed as we are on our pack resources at the moment what are people's thoughts on his development this season?

| I dont think I've been more disappointed with a junior coming through the ranks than Ben Currie. I haven't seen a single asset that makes me think Oh he's good.
He doesn't break tackles, he doesn't run through gaps, he doesn't smash people in defence, he doesn't put players through gaps with nice passing. He doesn't't Offload, and he has average pace for a back rower.
It won't sit well with people because he's only 19 - 20 and filled in well enough for Trent in the ten game run.
But I think the boy is rubbish. its just my opinion and no one has to agree. But I fully expect his names will be in one of Sallys post when bagging us all when we are taking about the next big prospect in the academy set up.
Oh and Roy ....... Hes bad. ... He made a decent run on 70 minutes.....seventy minutes. ..
To quote Darryl Brohman.... His wife should be embarrassed for him.

| Asotasi is the worst signing I have ever seen us make. He is garbage. When you finish the game with asotasi and wood, two props who only run sideways, it doesn't bode well. Absolutely sure, get rid

| Must admit, watching the game last night I dont notice that if Roy found himself in a defensive tackle his first thoughts appeared to be "how do I get out of here and get back 10+" rather than "nobody else here, better step up and play marker".

| The Asotasi era was summed up when he was driven back by the Wigan defence and offerred about as much resistance as an Afghan hut in a missile attack. More damning was the fact his teammates weren't exactly rushing to assist him.
The days of props rampaging through the defensive line or dragging defenders on their back for extra metres may be virtually gone, although in Chris Hill we have one of the few props who still does it regularly, but that doesn't excuse the woeful work ethic. I note the bagging of England on here with some dissapproval; he has taken a huge step up in terms of demand but his progress and attitude tells me he will make it. He may not be starting prop next year but, on the back of a good pre-season, I'd bet on him being in the 17 every week. I'd have him, and the likes of him, over the likes of Asotasi every time.

| I think people are seeing what they want to with Roy now. He actually went pretty well last night. At the absolute least he did the job asked. Yeah he was driven back in a tackle, a good three man tackle, which prop hasnt been? At one point he made 3 tackles on the bounce pretty much from marker. I'm done with wasting negativity on him, i'm seeing a change in attitude from Roy, and I actually think he's starting to settle.

If you watch Asotasi, he simply jogs forward with the ball, there is no attempt to run hard at the opposition at all. And that is pretty evident when you look at the yardage he makes. Yes he is 32, but Morley showed far more effort and determination at 36. It looks as though Asotasi is viewing this as his last pay day before retirement and is determined to protect his body from injury. But he must be on something North of £160,000. So not only are we a prop short in the pack but we are paying through the nose for the privilege. And on top of that he must be seriously pi888ng off the younger players who work twice as hard and probably only earn 40-50% of what he does. TS needs to admit he has made a mistake, stop wittering on about acclimatisation, and get rid of him.

| The thing I find really frustrating about it, is I've read two articles from Australia, both saying that he's essentially had to learn how to play again, after playing under fadge and his No offloading military percentage style, and coming here to us.
But he's not even doing that, what annoyed me last night is how quick the defenders were on him, as he's stood still.
If he was running it in hard, with a reluctance to offload, making zero mistakes h could accept it, but he's not, he's a passenger, which is being exacerbated by wood's poor form.
Trust me Timmy, I'm not seeing anything I want to see from him
