I did say sometime back that Sims is a direct replacement for Trent.
As I'm aware Sims was brought in to play 2nd row and cover prop but there is reason to see him playing his career out in the front row as I see it.

Coupled with the backroom staff ,that is some clear out & it will be interesting to see who fills these posts .

I bet there's a certain chair of the deck variety that is happy with this.

Riley and Waterhouse were certainly my 2 biggest gripes last season.. For completely opposing reasons though.... Riley was all heart but lacked positional intelligence. He did well to keep his place for as long as he did when you consider he kept making the same mistakes game after game... i wont repeat myself on Waterhouse.

Riley leaving is a bit said though, as he was a local lad that obviously loved playing for us... I wish him all the best at his next club and hope he has nice long injury free career.

I know it's dangerous to go against the grain on here, but I think Waterhouse has been a very good signing and performed particularly well in big matches.

I also had the misfortune to view an earlier post in the thread as I wasn't logged in and the solitary member of my Ignore List made an appearance.
Ashton Sims might have played a bit of back row earlier in his career, but he is definitely an out and out prop nowadays.
I very much doubt he has been signed to play left second row.

Mick Turner from Wigan will be head of strength and conditioning.
I did hint a while ago.

It may very well be true what Riddler says in his last sentence but he was bought as a direct replacement for Trent. But Sims has an extra feather in his cap than Trent and can play prop at an out and out level just like Morley did through much of his career.
But he was not brought in as a replacement for Big Roy.

There is more to it than meets the eye with these departures. I believe SJM is reducing his input into the club.

I don't how true ,but there was a rumour that John Clarke was coming onto the back room roster as well.

So asiteasy is staying then.

I have mixed emotions on Trent. He has done a job for us performing at 80% in attack and solid in defence. When he came on for Grix last week, his first drive was amazing- full of energy and making probably 10m. We've hardly seen any of these big drives and I'll remember him mainly as plodder when he leaves.
I feel sorry for Chris but his defensive mistakes were especially prominant last season in key games.

Two things.
1. Very suprised soooo many backroom staff are leaving at the same time. I assume the club has got replacements lined up, or that and a re-organization to amalgamate roles (taking the above into account). Even so - stability is a key indicator for me and we've got a 'wobble'.
2. If by input you mean 'cash' then the business model isn't working. That's a really big isue for me. We shouldn't have to rely on one person (and no-one can reasonably say that we haven't relied on SJM), but I would have hoped the reliance would have been reduced over the years.

I was surprised not to see Paul Wood's name on the list of people leaving too. I know he's still contracted for next year, but as was Riley and for me Woody has not offered a lot so far this year.

Chris has been great for us, hope we sign him permanently. And I hope Agar doesn't do to you what he did to us. Good luck in the play-offs #WTID

Just reading the post on the RFL site regarding the people leaving, seems michael monghan will not br getting coaching role with us.and looks like waterhouse is suplus to requirments.

If we get Riley I'll be very pleased.

This thread sees a few of you critical of his defensive performance last year, well if that is the case he has certainly improved. He's not scored many for us but that is more down to the service. His defence has been exceptionally good and this wing has improved significantly compared to last year due to him being there.

We'll take Riley and you can have Agar. Sounds like a cracking deal to us

Riley came in for a lot of flak, mostly only from just a handful of posters. IMO he was let down badly by the form of Atkins. Atkins got the patience of TS but Riley and Penny didn't.
I like Riley, and never dished him myself. He stuck to his wing and was left countless times with a whole as big as Shuan Wanes ass.
Our left side is stronger for the want of using Rhys Evans and I wouldn't swap him for Riley but for the wrong reasons. Not because Rhys is a better winger, but he gives Atkins confidence and with it Atkins plays almost as good as any left centre in SL.

Trent has had a solid 3 years I think, when he joined people at first found it hard to come to terms with the type of player he was. Runs one of the best lines I have seen in my time (I'm 17).

Don't think we need to replace him and I don't want to either, we've got Laithwaite there and he's the one who should be in Trent's place next year.

Sad, but expected, re Riley.

Waterhouse. As I've said on here countless times, I wont be losing much sleep on him going home. Ta for your efforts. Far from a bad player, but you didn't justify your big overseas player's wage packet.

Now, I'm well and truly out of the loop regarding the youth players, but I thought Saltenstall (sp) was going to be the "next bright thing". What went wrong with him?
