| IMO he is one of the best, if not the best, players that I have seen in the P&B in the SL era and beyond.
His tackling and bravery is second to non. He creates things that other players can only dream about creating and he is going to be sorely missed next year.
He seems to be a decent bloke on and off the pitch and should be commended for attending to Simon Grix in the immediate aftermath of Simon's terrible injury last night when others could hardly bare to look.
I sincerely hope that the Warrington club retain Michaels services next year in a coaching capacity as I believe he will have a lot to offer in this sphere.
If anyone deserves GF success at this club then Michael is one of them and again I sincerely hope that the team can pull it off this year before he retires.
Thank you very much Michael for what you have brought to the club and its fans, lets hope you end your playing career on a high and that your coaching career kicks off at the Warrington Club.

| Totally agree Colin. I too hope we can find a position for him when he hangs his boots up as he has so much to offer.

| Agreed, we need to keep his experience at the club. Potential future head coach should tony ever decide enough is enough (please don't).
He looks fully intent on signing off with a bang, he has all season.

| I would second the OP, and watching him this year has been all the more pleasurable given that there have been moments over the last two years when it looked as if the flesh was willing but the body was weak. Great to see a player coming back like that.

| He has options of staying at Warrington in a minor coaching role or moving on to Bradford Bulls as a first team assistant. So I heard some weeks back.

| Took another heavy one last night, looked really bad at first. Can't blame it for wanting to pack it in with all the blows he's taken lately, and although he looked out of sorts for large parts of last season he's been unbelievable lately. His legs might not quite be up to his peak of 2011 but everything else is. What a player, will be very sad to see him go.

| He's a bit of a genius. I hope he stays in some capacity, if only to pass down some of that genius to Clarke, who at the moment is only a runner.

To be fair he's a bit better than RL's Forrest Gump!
I agree with the praise being heaped on Monaghan back to his best let's hope he goes out on a high

| Should be commended for his reaction to Grix's injury on Thursday too. Total love and respect for his team mates and he should stay here as a 2nd assistant coach for definite.
If he does go off elsewhere I hope he returns as a head coach when TS moves on (hopefully a good few more years away).

That's not what I said. Maybe I should have said that Clarke is a completely different hooker to Monaghan, he doesn't possess the skills that Monaghan has when it comes to being able to unlock the toughest of defences. Hopefully that will come over time.

| What happens regarding work permits if we or anyone else want to appoint Michael Monaghan as a coach?
As he's not an EU citizen he's going to need a new work permit if he changes jobs in the UK. He's not got any coaching experience so will he be able to get one?

| Hold on! Hold on!
Yes, MonaghanM is (was) a class act, but this doesn't automatically mean he's going to launch into a successful coaching career.
He's been paid well for what he currently does.
We've just given Briers a job (again, after great service). We'll have Woody and Westwood retiring soon. Are we to instantly make job titles up for these two, as well?
We don't owe these people a living.

All I will say is you're in for a bit of a shock if you're expecting Clark to play the same game Monaghan plays. If you would like to take words out of context that's fine. Clark plays a running game.

I didn't take them out of context and that was my point, I noted your use of the word only and responded that he's a bit better than Forrest Gump, a reference to a runner that might not possess other qualities. I also agreed with your praise of Monaghan so there's no need to get touchy, or act like I'm twisting your words.
I recognise that they are not the same type of player and would also agree that if some of that "genius" could be passed on to Clark then what a player we would have. My problem with this is can you coach what Monaghan has got, I'm not so sure as it's about instinctive play and experience not something that could be taught by video or on a whiteboard, otherwise the game would be full of 23 year old Monaghan's and Briers's?

| Regards work permit, isn't he marrying an English girl and been here long enough for that to be almost a non issue, he could end up with duel nationality.
