James Child is screwing us big time and Ratchford as done nothing yet.

Overall a scruffy game by our recent standards, but a win is a win i suppose.

It's also seven on the bounce (6 league and 1 cup game). I would also think that this weeks preparation was made more difficult by the England get together. We are still fifth, but gaining momentum, especially with Cas getting turned over at Saints and Wigan losing at Wakefield.

Morley's try was received well by the Wire crowd, but I want the fella to retire at the end of the season. I don't particularly want to see his reputation stained as a man "going through the motions". I can't remember him gaining a single yard through his hit-ups.

Child (please note, no S at the end of his surname) was told to keep Salford in the game, with his total disregard for Salford's constant head high tackling.

Kept Chase relatively quiet except for that moment of class at the end of the game

Sure. Strange how it took about three or four from Warrington players before he finally decided to call one against you. Nice couple of dives from Westwood to con the ref into giving two penalties for interference as well, one which extended the lead to 8.



I believe it's called getting behind your team. Maybe you lot should try it some time, was like a church at times today.

Yes, I've noticed that the Salford fans have been getting behind their team this season. At least our church was fairly full, unlike the AJ Bell Stadium.

1. We did get behind them.
2. Singing Man Utd songs isn't getting behind your team pal, it's being a moron.

4. The fans you bought today are all that turn up to home games too, it's like a ghost town at the AJ Bell.

In regards to the game, was a scrappy game and there were too many errors for my liking but we got the job done.

Hope Evans heals up quick and Monas is alright too.

Strange decisions from JC re Dwyer getting up from what he thought wasn't a tackle & playing on & the ref gave Salford a penalty. Salford player does the same a few minutes later & Child takes him back to the mark to play the ball which i believe is the correct course of action from this season.

We did look a bit off the boil at times though ,but then again Salford didn't just roll over.

I won't deny in terms of numbers our fans are crap, have been for a long time. Hopefully if Koukash does bring us success we'll bring in some glory hunters, a bit like you guys did.

No matter what Kockrash spends on players Salford will never the get the support through the turnstiles to make the club viable. You always have, and always will live in the shadow of Manchester United. You even sing their songs.

To be fair, I was originally just responding to the petty $hite from lefty with petty $hite of my own. I don't really intend getting in a boring back and forth of the same old tired crap that both sides' fans sling at each other. Probably shouldn't have responded to it in the first place.

Serious question, if you get it right on the field what do you think your crowds would escalate to? I think it would take some considerable time to attract a regular 8k, that magic break even figure that was touted around when you moved to Barton under Wilkinson that quickly turned to we need 8k to spend the full cap when they ground was full of no shows.

If my memory isn't playing tricks, you didn't have massive numbers in the 70's real glory years which leads me to believe that there isn't a huge appetite for RL in Salford to expand your hard core or entice some Glory Hunters

BTW what's wrong with attracting Glory Hunters, seems like good business to me rather than something to be scoffed at, or will you be one of those that's going revel in the " I remember when we were that bad we were outnumbered (but obviously never outsung) by such and such a body teams' fans so I must be a proper supporter" type of person?

No, it really doesn't (see my previous post).

I think something like 8k is the best we're ever going to really get and even that'll take time. I'm generally a pessimist when it comes to RL and while a lot of people in the game have big ideas about expanding it and bringing in huge amounts of new fans, I can't see it happening on a massive scale. I live in Stretford and most people wouldn't have a clue about RL despite being 10 minutes away from a super League ground and having the Grand Final here every year.

I agree with you, we need 'gloryhunters'. Like I said, I was being childish in response to childishness. It's not rocket science that winning games, brings in crowds - this year's shown that just having a rich backer and bringing in a couple of big names isn't going to simply bring the fans in consistently.

My worry for you is that you'll never get the response from the people of Salford to match your owners ambitions and he might just lose patience and that would be calamitous. We would seem to have more of a chance with Moran as first and foremost he is a fan. BTW I'm not crowing as I'm a little disappointed with our numbers through the gate given the quality of RL that has been on offer in recent years.

He may well get bored, you're not the first person to say it! If he doesn't then we should hopefully have financial security for a long time and who knows, we might one day actually win something. If he does get bored and leaves, we're back where we were at the beginning of last year on the verge of administration. If he hadn't stepped in we'd either be where Bradford are now, awaiting an inevitable relegation, or worse, we wouldn't have even been able to fulfil our fixtures and we'd already be out of the league. Might as well just try and enjoy it while we can!
