Decent defence so far, widdop has nothing to work with he'd look a different player in a more attacking team. We. Still look like a team of individuals rather than a team unit.

We're playing an above average championship team here and they've burned up a lot of physical and emotional energy v Wigan.

We should hammer them, we'll see.

Faster ptb ball and we score, we are a lot better down the left though, moves like that stop with Hughes on the right but he was missed out there. It's much better so far although we should be beating leigh comfortably really. I like the look of mulhern.

Fair to say, we will have a better idea of how good/bad we actually are, after we have seen Castleford's game with Leeds later, because you can't really judge on knocking over what is obviously a championship side in Leigh?

Hills having a stormer, breaking the line every time. The forwards in general are playing well and thereby enabling the backs to do their bit.

Liking what I’m seeing today, so was last week purely arrogance, or laziness. Some of said Leigh are only a championship team so we need to hammer them.

Leigh not really at the races. Currie and Widdop have made it look like men against boys.

That said, much better effort from the pack. Cooper is aggressive and Hill dominant.

Can’t let up now, use this as a momentum builder.

How was that not a sin bin for pulling Widdop back.

Leigh have been really poor, widdop has been really good today the best I can remember him playing in a wire shirt. Nobody having a bad game, done a professional job on a team that's played very badly.

Widdop is a revelation this year, so much sharper, looks keen and looks a yard faster too than last year.

Very good performance, even allowing for the poor opposition.

Widdop superb, Currie, King, Lineham and Hill all excellent. Tougher tests to come but the season starts now.

Left side got better as the match went on. Curries offloads and support play was very good.
Now need to kick on BUT not getting over excited.

Agreed, we need the right edge to look as dangerous as the left now. The whole left edge were excellent today. Widdop really opened the gaps down there and the other lads exploited them over and over.

Butler and mulhern were really solid too, they look like very capable players allowing us to rest hill and cooper a lot more. We have to back that up every week though, there are far tougher tests than that in superleague.

All those who were sacked last week have now been brought back.
All our cynical, sad and negative "supporters" will all be back when we lose again.
It is so easy when you just throw a bit of crap at a forum with no responsibility at all.

I was a bit surprised Butler got a game but well done SP as it certainly beefed up the middle and didn't leave all the work for our stalwart props. He still gets null points for wasting a spot on a 10 min Ashton the previous game though. I thought Mamo did ok although he missed a tackle on ? Thornley that gave them their second try. To be fair I hadn't expected Price to make even those two changes to the team.

The two players that I thought were disappointing were Walker and Austin. Walker should surely be making more breaks against a tiring Leigh side that was short of some of their better players. Perhaps Walker should be swapped with Davis for the Hull and Catalan games. Austin seems to have continued his very mediocre form of last year whilst Widdop showed him what he ought to be doing in sparking attacks.

I was trying to decide whether to be encouraged or not by the team display. It was certainly a lot better than against Cas. with more fluid passing, a better pack and some clever work between Currie, Widdop and Ratchford to open up the defence. But we will not get the time / space against Saints or Wigan, and their defence will be a lot tighter. We are still not seeing enough running off the ball from the forwards, we are still passing flat footed in the middle, and we still look pretty stagnant attacking their try line in the last 20m.
I think my cup is still half empty.

Saints & Wigan are both looking good. Saints have recruited well and Wigan still look dangerous with several backs out injured.
I did spot Austin chime in nicely when the ball moved left ... but we need to be fluent going right as well.
