| Richie Myler is contracted to the end of the 2015 season, but with the massive amount of money in the Australian game, I think we would be sensible to try and extend his contract asap. Add to that the likes of Koukash waving money around at Salford, and the very obvious lack of young half back talent in the UK..
Remember when he joined ? Whilst he had natural talent, he was really only a 'back up player' seemingly scoring supporting tries. And his tackling was not great either. Last year he really started to catch the eye, and that kick to Monas jr in the Wembly final was something I will remember for a long time. Fast forward to this season and he is starting to look like 'the man'. He has a good tackling game, he can move the ball at will, break the defensive line, and his last tackle kicking game is starting to look very good.
It seems to have been a steady drip, drip improvement, but he has arrived. That £150k looks to have been money well spent.

| If he goes to Oz so be it
I doubt he'd go back to Salford, if he wants to win things then Salford is definitely the wrong step.
I've been one of the very few on here that has never panned Myler and i've seen him slowly improve since his arrival, his defence and speed of thought have improved ten fold, his step is good and passing is good both sides.
His backup game has always been good.
One thing people have always picked him up for is his kicking, yet i think this is unfair, most of the time he plays with Lee, i'm sure during training and all the moves they practise Lee is the primary kicker so to say he doesn't kick enough is probably being unfair to the lad.

| Could this Dr Koukash be something of a fake ? He's made an audacious bid for Tomkins which he must have known had a less than zero chance of succeeding. Not only Tomkins has been linked with Salford but everybody else it seems. He's a GP who's had some success in the horseracing world(so he says) but he's no pop impressario worth a couple of hundred millions or an oil sheikh....Only time will tell if he's the real deal or not.

What does it matter where he made his money? This is a bloke who was a refugee as a child with basically nothing, not even shoes on his feet. He came over to the UK, got himself educated, made millions in global property development and then turned his (very determined) hand to horse racing and made a success of that too. This guy is a breathe of fresh air for RL and we should all be applauding that someone like him wants to revive an ailing club. Not mocking him for having the audacity to want to sign some top players. One thing that shines through his is determination to succeed - I wish him well. Lets not forget its not that long since we were at the bottom of the table and initially we had to splash some cash to sign "marquee" players like Gleeson.

He is a Doctor in the proper, academic sense. He has been very successful in business and racing, so I am sure he knows exactly what he is doing.
This article sums up the Tomkins bid quite nicely. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... st-1377983

| ive been very impressed my Myler this season.
many from outside (and some from inside) the club sneered at the signing and the price tag a few years ago.. i dont think anyone is now.. and if they are, they are frankly a bit silly.
he is just going to keep getting better and better.

| I was wrongly informed by a Sintelliner Koukash was his GP in St Helens so apologies to the man for that. However, from what I can find out he made his money organising management seminars(all smoke and mirrors). No mention of him being a property tycoon anywhere. He doesn't even have a Wikipedia entry(yes I know, not the most reliable research tool)...If I had dealings with him I'd wait for the cheque to clear first....Maybe he'll mysteriously go overboard from his yacht, Maxwell style.

Without wishing to suffer the wrath of Teesside I agree.
Granted for me he's improving year on year, tackling and running at the line especially but I could never fathom earlier claims from some that he's only a support player

| For me, I don't think he has ever done anything wrong, and the plan is working from TS. He was signed young and had an apprentice to serve. Learning the basics bit by bit and continue what he was doing well previously.
2011 and early 2012 he was effective yet quite robotic, playing at the line and picking a pass. The back end of last year he started mixing it up and he's carried it on this year. Looks sharp and confident, making decisions and a decent short kicking game. Apprentice served, take the reigns off and show what you can do.

That is what I have always said. I think that because he was such a high profile signing (with a hefty transfer fee) people expected him to come into the squad and be a world beater. As such they forgot that he was only 20 when we signed him, contrast that with Gareth O'Brien who is now 21 but still widely regarded as a young lad who we will come to see a lot more of.

| It must be hard for Myler to concentrate on his rugby when he's probably got Steve Simms in his ear selling him Salford's vision and all those trophies they are going to win.
I don't know how Simon Moran could compete with that.

| Myler has definitely stepped up a level this year. He said TS had told him to take the line on more, which we have seen in both scoring and creating tries. I think that was the one thing that was lacking. Previously it was a bit more 'get it, give it'. Developing nicely.
As for Koukash our favourite Aussie wind-up merchant League Freak got it spot on. The need a better structure off-field in place and a decent coach - Tim Sheens & Brian Smith are both available. I reckon either would come if Koukash threw enough money at them, the other side is both are respected NRL coaches which would hold some sway with NRL players (likely fringe) one wanting more first grade games. What were we lacking a few years back? Yep, that's right, a decent coach.

Interesting analysis by League Freak. Salford is very much a 'shell' and will take a minimum of 6-7 yrs probably to re-build. But the problem Koukash has got is that the SL franchise period ends in 2014. He needs short term fixes AND long term planning / development.
