Been announced today the details of the England vs Exiles game.

Will be played on Friday 10th June at Headingley.
Captain of the Exiles is Danny Buderus, vice captain is Thomas Leuluai.
Coach is Brian McLennan, assistant is Terry Matterson.

I think that playing it on a Friday night is a mistake, the crowd may be affected by this.

What is everyones thoughts then? I personally think that the team that I picked would give England a good challenge for once, and it is much better than playing the French and beating them by 40-50 points.

My method:

1. Pick any available Salford players as we play Salford on the Sunday.
2. Pick any available Wigan players as they have a tough game away at Cas that weekend - and are our main rivals.
3. Make the rest of the team up of Saints and Leeds players.
4. Avoid Warrington players!

On paper it could be awesome, but I can almost guarentee numerous hamstring tweaks etc the week before, and the Exiles will end up with a few NL1 players and fringe SL players.

By looking at the current results... Might as well say we've got no Hodgson, King or Joel that week already + probably Moz, Bridge and Westwood too!

It could be superb or it could be as you say, a selection farce with the side that takes the field bearing no resemblance to the one the speccies select. If the Exiles side drags players out of SL selection that weekend I'm sure there will be a few fans reflecting on how this became the defining round in the hunt for the hub cap. Just as long as the Wire players come out of it unscathed I'll be happy.

To have this game on the Friday, when there is a round of games on the weekend is ridiculous.

If they wanted this game to be taken seriously, they should have held it on a sat/sun and suspended all SL games for that round.

It will either be

a) Riddled with players dropping out due to little injury's.
b) A stroll around resembling tick and pass.

I doubt that they will cancel the Salford game, which may mean you have to do a bit of squad rotation, tho last time Tony did that it didnt go too well



Didnt Sean O'Loughlin play an international and for Wigan in the same weekend a year or two ago?

I used to play football every night for 3 hours in the park when I were a lad

I think the actual idea is good.
Scrap the magic weekend and play this fixture mid season with a free weekend of all games i.e no Superleague or Championship fixtures.

I did! It looks like Chase is well ahead in the voting though.

This farce is stating the obvious.

A SL regular week round is more important than this sham of a match, for the fans and probably for the clubs and players.

I wonder what we will learn 'new' about the players?

Some people said after last years Four Nations that Ryan Atkins wasn't up to international level. If he shows himself able to compete against the likes of Buderus and Morrison will that answer questions, that he's not just good against SL opposition but can step up to the international stage?

Mind you it could be worse they could have put England against Wales for a mid season stroll.

I wonder if soon we will have an England v National League All Stars game.

Are people honestly suggesting that the SL games that weekend will be of more importance to the players than the immense pride they will feel pulling on the "Exiles" jersey? Surely not!

p.s there only one cas player up for selection.

Can't believe i'm going to say this but i just sent an email to the RFL, i loved the idea but not at the expense of potentially a first league winners trophy in my life time.
