| I think its difficult for a lot of younger people voting for the likes of Hesketh, Watkins etc.. when they never got the privilege of seeing them play. I started watching in 1984 so my players would be from that era onwards. Not chosen only for their talent but their commitment and passion for the club. Steve Kerry, Adrian Hadley, Fata Sini, Sean Rutgerson, Malc Alker etc...not superstars of the game but legends to me and many others.

I'd agree with all of the above, although my Dad will argue for David Watkins over Chris Hesketh for Legend 4.

Harry Eagles - Salford - 35 RU England/ British Isles Caps .
It appeals to me to have the Sale fans walk past a banner / mural showing a Salford Player with more RU caps than most Sale players bar Charlie Hodgson..

You can't knock that maybe the club should take note, that said it would hurt me to much not to have Dai the "king" Watkins in there somewhere.

This is bang on the money.
I'm 30 and have watched Salford since I was 13, so 1996. 17 years without much to shout about, so "legends" in that time are pretty hard to find. Blakeley, Alker etc may not be legends of Rugby League, but within the last couple of decades they're as close as some of us have had the pleasure of watching for Solly.

| Think it would be better to get the East stand all standing, to recreate the shed alongside the pitch. You are nearer to the play in the East stand, the view from the South stand is awful. Put seating in the South stand

| Your assuming that the SMC would sell it anyway. The best bet would be to get a decent local brewery to look into it, though are there any decent local brewers? Holts would be the obvious choice but its hardly a decent pint at the best of times never mind before the trained chimps at the stadium have poured it.

I disagree but then it's only my job to know decent beer so I guess I'm misinformed
I do know it's all personal taste but to an entity like the SMC they have to look at what will sell, it's not like it's a pub that's open daily to enable them to shift stocks.

| Holt's is a great pint. I don't understand MR's problem with it.
I've been informed Hydes is now brewed in Salford. Get a tie up with them and get the Gold on the bar. Simple.

| I've no problem with it at all just can't handle to taste of it, the issue is if you went for something like Holts is the market there for a beer that's an aquired taste?
I guess you also have the factor in the price you'll end up paying for it at Barton when it is a cheaper pint elsewhere.
And my prefered tipple is Belgium beer like Duval, Chimay or De Koninck but I doubt very much that they'd sell any of that at Barton.

Kansas Ave off South Langworthy Rd, not that they will brag about it by sponsorship as they still brand themselves as Family owned Manchester Brewer.
Saints own their ground and brought in Robinsons . Their ground , Their choice
the SMC sold the catering ( including beverages ~) to Azure UK on a 10 year lease , they have a deal with Carlsberg / Heineken conglomerate , which in turn owns the brands previously owned by Scottish & Newcastle
Deuchars IPA Caledonian , is owned by Heineken, the only Ale sold not directly linked is Thwaites Wainwright bottled Beer.
Outside of a separately run non match day Beer festival , cannot see much chance of local real ales finding their way to Barton.
As soon as the link bridge goes in , the JD Wetherspoon's Castle in the Air will be within walking distance, with a not too bad selection of rationally priced cask Ales [urlhttp://www.jdwrealale.co.uk/ales[/url

| Aye it'll be great when the new bridge is finished. I went to Castle in the Air pre-match a few times, using the shuttle bus to get to the ground. I think they had a discount on food for match-goers too.

Indeed. I've always thought that drinking Holt's must be what it's like having a homeless being sick directly into your mouth. Quite like Marmite though, even though it's a jar full of =#000040shit.
I remember Holt's tried to produce a lager about 30 years ago. They called it Regal, which is 'lager' backwards. They should have called it Ssip.

Got to agree GT, Holts Smooth is without doubt a great pint.
Also they have the award winning lagers the" Diamond" was awarded the Gold medal at the International brewing Awards in 2013.

They do a range of bottled beers as well, which are quite varied in taste. Usually something for everyone, although I'm not sure they've made it into the Belgium market yet.
The price would also be a factor. Can't see a stadium knocking out pints or bottles for £2 to £2.50.

This is fastly becomming a CAMRA topic
My Favourite holts Lager pun name is ' Holtenbrau ' .. Funnily their Crystal lager is..
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ma ... r-12495700
Holts claim to be the only Brewer still delivering Beer in Hogsheads ( 54 Gallon Barrels, Normal is 36 Gallon )so it's needs a landlord who keeps a good cellar & regularly cleans the cask pumps .
I like Holts Bottled beers , 1849 & Maple Moon.
