| Some of our fans are a fuc*king embarrassment. We will have this discussion in 5 years time. In the mean time why don't you all go and w@nk Sale off go and watch them and suck Kennedy off
And o Fu*k off Tarry.
No1 can give me a positive as to why the Sale move is going to benefit Salford and the reasons that are given are quite frankly something only a chimp would believe. I know why don't we all go for a nice greek before the next Sale home game?

| Has the penny not dropped yet? Nobody needs to give you a positive or otherwise. They are here now. And whether you choose to look for potential benefits and maintain a positive outlook or simply sulk and expect the worst to happen, it's an unalterable fact.
I'd actually have more respect for the doom mongers if they actually did something (arrange a demo, blockade the stadium, anything!) rather than just sulk behind behind a keyboard throwing out scattergun insults in all directions.
The truth is, I was annoyed when the Blue seats suddenly appeared and our club failed to be transparent about what was going on, I was annoyed by some of the disrespectful remarks that Diamond made in the press and I've no more idea than anyone else on here as to whether Kennedy's intentions are malicious.
But I also know that once Red City Developments died a death (can anybody believe in hindsight that we swallowed that fairy tale?) and we effectively agreed to assume the role of tenants, that it was inevitable that we would be sharing the stadium with someone else and that the someone else would almost certainly be Sale.
I'd have preferred us to have had a little longer to stamp our own mark on the stadium first (although there's little to suggest what difference this would make) and I'd have preferred it if our own club had been a little more open about what was going on. But that wouldn't have altered what in my opinion is/was an inevitability.
The point I will continue to make is that, regardless of your feelings on this inevitability, it's in the club's best interest to look forward and do all it can to ensure that it plays an active and equal role in this partnership.
If we're able to do this, there are a number of [u[ipotential [/i[/upositive outcomes (eg, improved transport links and stadium infrastructure, increased fan base, reduced overheads, increased corporate support).
However, if the club follows the lead set by some on here and chooses to sit back, sulk and wait for the worst to happen, then we are indeed doomed.

| Quote ="Shark J"Some of the comments on here are laughable. I had to check the date then to realise it wasn't the early 1900s and it was in fact 2012.
Somebody used the term Dinosaur. That sums up some of the views perfectly.
If you think the divide between League and Union and indeed the working and middle classes is still exactly how it used to be you are absolutely warped.
Here's the harsh reality - I don't mean this in a snobby way as I like both codes, but a lot of Union fans don't actually give League the time of day. Now before you quote me on that one line let me make it clear what I mean. They don't think about League, it doesn't pass their minds, they get on supporting their own team, their own sport. It's not just me who feels this way, this comment I'm about to use is used on this, the Wigan forum and the Union thread too - but a lot of League fans have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to Union. It's a shame, as no Union fan I've ever met has had a bad word to say about the other code. As a United fan (Manchester United, but of course being from Salford you all support them and know who they are anyway) I know exactly what it's like. Stockport County fans absolutely hate us and City. Yet you ask a single United fan to name a Stockport player and they couldn't. Not through ignorance, not through dislike, but because Stockport simply don't effect their lives, it's not a club that doesn't pass through their minds. A lot of League fans seem to take a negative stand from the start. All because of a period that even their Grandfathers would be too young to remember. I think a very small minority of League fans care more about being working class than they care about their team. So what? You're working class? Good for you. So am I, it's not something I care about though or feel the need to go on about. Football is historically a working class sport, isn't it? You don't hear the fans going on about it all the time. Maybe that's to do with the fact times change. You're not telling me working class Joe pays £110 for a ticket at Arsenal every week are you? Has a corporate box at Old Trafford? My mates are all working class, yet some have done well for themselves, got 2 houses, 2 cars. Surely on paper they're middle class? Again, times change, things expand and develop. It's not as black and white as it once was. So no, the divide isn't the same as it once was.
If you're using historic references and judging Union as a sport for the middle classes down south, then fine. But in all my years supporting Sale I've never come across one toff, one person with plumbs in their mouth, one person who hates Rugby League. Over on our forum we've got Catalans, Wigan, Salford, Warrington and St Helens fans. Bitterness is a terrible thing. Whether you've been brought up to hate Union or whatever, fine. That's your life. But don't be coming on here telling us you know more about Sale fans than the Sale fans themselves without checking your facts first. I understand some people have had personal interactions with the League and Union divide, I'm not coming on here to tell you you're wrong. If that's happened to you, then it has, and it's a shame. I'm not thick enough to believe that elitism doesn't still exist in some areas. Personally though I couldn't give a poop. Granted there aren't many Sale or Rugby Union fans where I live compared to Football. But for me it's about the class on the field, not off it.
As I've said on here before - it's lucky a few of you are obviously keyboard warriors. As the majority are very pleasant and have been welcoming to Sale fans in the flesh and online. iBozz is a good guy and a gent, so to take what he said, knowing full well it was a nice, welcoming message and turning it into your own paranoia about Union still killing League is just not on.'"
Bore off! Go drink some pimms and watch your kick and clap in a stadium that you would never of had but for SRLFC!

As I said, it was a fairytale. "iconic" stadium, 'enabling' projects, super casinos, "richest club in the league" etc etc. Looking back in hindsight it seems ridiculous that anybody bought any of this (least of all the Super League licensing panel!).
What we now need to do is refocus on reality and make the most of the situation we find ourselves in. Is that really such a contentious statement to make?

| Quote ="Horatio Yed""The days of antagonism between Union and League are long gone and the two codes now exist side by side in harmony, as indeed they should."
Do they though?
Union was intent on destroying league for decades whereas League just got on with its business and ignored union. We never banned players for supporting league or playing another code. We didn't ban players for 'amateurising' themselves.
Union have only stopped attacking us since they themselves became professional and realised the hypocrisy of carring on as they were.
Knowing full well that their finances are vastly superior to ours, saw us as an irrelavence or a noisey and poor neighbour.
They tolerate us and i'd wager a bet that they only do that because they know occasionally we'll produce talented rugby players and rather than lose them to a completely unrelated sport like cricket or football, they'll have basic union skills as well as advanced league skills which sometimes translate to their game and make the transition easier.
People go on about league insecurities, but i think they're warranted, we are the pretty blonde poor girl with no prospects and union are the ugly rich fat man banker offering lifetime security and opening her up to a whole new level of society.
Union are not our friends and they never will be and if they had the power to kill off a sport at the flick of a finger they wouldn't touch football, they'd do it to league just out of spite.'"
Love it! How any plastic league/Salford fan can accept Sale/Union whatsoever is beyond it for me! Its not draconian either, just common sense! F U C K OFF Sale and RU! I'll say it if no one else will!

Probably made to look so much better by the complete disaster or board made of the only and only chance they had to move to a new home in style and encourage potential new supporters. That's not sales fault its ours.
Also if our board do get bullied by another organization on a similar contract will tell us everything we need to know about the quality of their management.
It seems to me a large part of this hatred of sale is more due to the realisation of many that our club probably are the potential makers of their own destruction.
If salford can't become a success its not sales fault'"
Has it not quite sunk in that people are quite aware the we need to be wary of Salford's ability to go forward and make the best of this situation more than anything else? However, Sale are a factor in that considering their previous record...

| If the asset-stripper extraordinaire does to Glasgow Rangers what he has allegedly done to Stockport County (?) we could have thousands of Caledonian psychopaths descending on the SCS giving us their historic renditions of William of Orange songs, which pre-date the forming of the Northern Union,so we could all enjoy
backward-looking,future-fearing,bigoted,working-class brotherhoods en masse.
Deep joy

Also, not sure where they sell Pimms in Wythenshawe, you know? That area that's even more of a dump than Salford *disclaimer for those who don't understand jokes or irony and are getting ready to tell me that we're not wanted in Salford for the 11th page in a row*
I'll have a pint of bitter and think of you though. Cheers.

“It is better than any other rugby stadium around. It’s the perfect size for the next five years for us. Its locality is spot-on and hopefully we can create a bit of an aura about the place.
So Sale Sharks have only signed up for 5 years have they ?

What are you basing this on?
You yourself just said Sale have a lease for 25 years with review after 5. Salford on the other hand only have a 10 year lease with a review after 3. Nothing similar about that.

If the length of our lease is based on JAW's age then I'd be seriously worried at the Council/Peel's opinion on the club's long term future.

| Quote ="Wayward Fan"I remember the captain of the union team at my university tried to block our path at every turn when we first started up a rugby league team. He lobbied the management of the university to block our application for recognition/funding, tried to have us banned from using the university sports grounds, threatened to ban any of their players who turned out to play for us and, when all that failed, he then tried to get us banned from using the word rugby in the name of the club in case it 'confused' anyone.
I found this bloke's ignorance and bigotry towards another sport completely baffling, but I'd like to think that the world has changed for the better. I can understand why some on here are apprehensive, but I'm disappointed that more people aren't able to keep more of an open mind before condemning and judging those - from both clubs - seem sincere in their wish to make things work.
The proof of the pudding will be in the eating but it's a shame that one or two people seem to offer the impression that they want problems to emerge.'"
