What is "official"?

I haven't posted on this site for quite some time however I would like to thank 2 gentlemen who were sat next to me. They used to live in Hull & were originally HKR supporters but now live in Liverpool & having made many visits to watch Catalan & made numerous friends over there they are now Catalan supporters.
Yesterday they came as neutral supporters to lend their support & contribute to Salford's cause, I just wish that more people in this vicinity would offer a helping hand however small.

So you saw the lads collecting and just assumed they weren't "official"?

As Iain says, what is "official"? Why would people collecting money unofficially to help save the club have club badges on?

Also, the road up to the ground is on private land - owned by the SMC. G4S will have been told where people are collecting, given a rough idea of who they are and so on. Knowing how on top they are on most things they certainly wouldn't let anyone be there without permission.

Still, it's easier to just snipe and assume people are dodgy, I guess. I'm assuming you put money into a bucket nearer the ground once you were happy they were "official"?

I have to say in Marshy's defence myself and Jo commented the same thoughts to.ourselves. the only bucket holder we saw that we knew was both ave it and his lil bro.

As indirectly part of my ticket price is refunded back to salford by our club the mere fact that I bought four tickets is ample donation add to that the purchase of two cup cakes and I think that was sufficient for now.

Iain, you have to agree that some for of ID card could have been issued to the collectors froom the Salfords fans perspective they may well have been known to many of you from the Swinton and other fans perspective they wasn't.
I saw the figure raised and it was a good effort but in this day and age you have to take care to cover the chancer.

By the way Ginge I forgot to add i also purchased £5 worth of Draw tickets inside the ground and if your club had really pulled their finger out( bearing in mind the possible adverse outcome of the petition hearing) I would have bought a match day programme.As it was there wasn't even a team sheet available, i might have chucked a £1 at one of those also.

Marshy they're were programs, albeit very thin ones with the team sheets on.

Highlight for me was Snyed again with the boot. I really can't stress how refreshing it is to see Salford to convert tries. As good as Holdsworth was with ball in hand, his kicking ability was poor. Fages seems to get a lot of attention, next big thing etc, honestly believe from my point of view Sneyd will turn out to be the better prospect.

Incidentally Hinge, I prefer Ginge as my only other option would be Toss and that just doesn't seem right.

Wasn't impressed with Sneyd, thought he looked average against Swinton. Can't see him being good enough to be honest. He has been around the first team for long enough now and still looks like a rabbit in the headlights and struggles to pick a pass. Just because he can kick goals does not mean he should be in the team. Theo needs another year or two as do a few of the other academy lads from last year. Would benefit them more if we could get them loaned out to Oldham for a bit and learn there trade there. Obviously beggers can't be choosers but I would imagine 2 halves and top of Phils wish list when he gets some money

While it would be nice to exchange views on the merits of rugby league performances it may be a bit premature,and certainly not helpful,to be negative.
It must be very hard for the players to keep their heads in the right place while the off-field drama has continued for so long so to play in a convincing team victory is more than welcome and they can continue in the same manner, with the same results,as far as I am concerned.
The past few months must have been particularly difficult for the 2 young players you mention and I thank them and the rest of the players for their dedication to the cause.
I think it more beneficial for our young players to come through the system and be willing to learn from our coaching staff as they,the players,mature and gain more experience.
I'm sure Sean Long must have played an average pre-season game and I seem to recall he didn't have too bad a playing career.Judging players over 80 mins.against lower league opposition isn't the ideal way to assess their playing ability.
Anyway,wasn't the Licensing system meant to encourage clubs to develop their own players without the fear of relegation and prevent clubs spending their way out of trouble and getting into financial troubles

I'm not judging them of 80 mins of a pre season friendly tho! I agree I would rather watch young lads coming through but not every kid who comes through is good enough. Sneyd is not. And although I agree with a bit of what you say, I don't like painting Rugby/Football players as mercenaries for having to put up with a take over. Thousands of people across the country have to put up with the same or worse in their line of work due to the economy and unemployment yet are not given the adulation that we like to bestow upon professional sportman or woman. It all gets a bit OTT.

Bit harsh. Will hopefully prove you wrong with a decent run in the side.
