Quote ="RED LEAGUE"Yes I see what your saying but when Hull applied for Chase's Visa he had a blemish on it with the assault charge, that is now spent as far as I was aware so there is nothing stopping a renewal? And no matter what people think, being married to a British national and having a British child will heavily go in your favour (aslong as you've been a good boy)'"
He hasn't been a good boy though, that's the whole point - www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... itability/
As far as I can tell, the only thing that's changed since his visa for Hull was turned down is that he's now married, but that doesn't affect a thing if his conviction isn't spent. Which it isn't. Now it may well turn that he is granted a visa and everything will turn out OK, but I can't see how anyone can think it's nailed on. Could be a lot of egg on faces here.

| Quote ="nottinghamtiger"Unfortunately not. The conviction that Chase has is spent after 10 years from the date of conviction. Chase has 8 years before it's spent, and this has been my point throughout this whole saga.
Been married to a British national and having a British child means zip. Last year a British Soldier with an English wife and 2 children was refused due to a military court conviction for a minor skirmish. With a conviction for a violent offence, Chase has less chance.'"
You're banging your head against a brick wall mate.

It's not unknown, however, for a decision to be made within 5 days. 3 weeks is the maximun time period.
If the application was made this time last week the initial decision could have been made.'"
Given that he was at UKBA today, having paid a premium fee, he's probably expecting a decision quicker than that. I suspect the application was made today.

| Well i am no expert but having done a bit of research it seems that Chase had a Visa renewal in 2012 when his contract at Cas was extended to 2015 which was after his conviction for assault which would have been taken into account at that time. Now for whatever reason the UKBA granted his renewal on that occasion.Would be unusual to say the least if they now refused him a Visa extension/renewal to go to Salford especially as he now has a dependant British wife and a dependant British child.
What would the UKBA be saying if they refused his work visa.We cant kick you out of the country but we deny you the right to earn a living for your British dependant family.Just doesnt make sense to me.
Just to clarify,he wasnt refused a Visa to go to Hull as was said in an earlier post.Hull never proceeded with the application because the time frame to get it processed was longer than the transfer deadline date and they didnt think they would be able to get it done in time.
As for the references that are constantly being made to his concviction. The actual wording is "Not in the public interest".As any half decent lawyer would know this leaves a window of interpretation that would allow a ruling for him to get a Visa if it can be shown that it is actually in the public interest for him to stay, such as the amount of tax he pays, the charitable works he does,The community projects he has been involved with .All examples of how his being here is to the benefit and interest of the public.
Also there are many documented cases where the courts have not prosecuted a person because in their words "it is not in the publics interest to prosecute" even though the evidence would overwhelmingly obtain a guilty verdict. Those words leave a lot of room for discretion to be shown by the UKBA which can easily be applied to Chases case.
Just because it is in the UKBA guidelines that several of you seem to be reading does not make it cast iron. They are guidelines and as such are always open to interpretation and discretion and every case is decided on its own merits.

| If I was a betting man, I'd still go for him being granted a visa and everything being grand. However, I also wouldn't be surprised if it was turned down. And he was deported. And Koukash was too. And the stadium fell down. That's what 20 years as a Salford fan will do to you.

| Sorry lads, I cannot believe home work has not been fully researched here before money has parted hands. Its peculiar the fee isn't higher but Dr Koucash is an astute businessman - you don't part with any money unless you are sure of your investment. surely.

Blinky flip MR, are you on your mansies or something? I can't see anything wrong in what nottinghamtiger is saying or has said. He hasn't been gloating or trying to wind anyone up, just saying that the Visa [icould be[/i a problem, and for the reasons he outlined. Fortunately, it seems now that Rangi Chase has got his Visa.

Given the number of Swinton fans in existence and the proportion of those fans intelligent enough to have a job that doesn't involve sorting sewage by hand, I'd guess the chance of one being a UKBA case worker is vanishingly small.
